Introduction

Meadowlarks are small birds, slightly larger than dart swallows. There are many types of meadowlarks, but they have two things in common: they are usually found near grasslands and cultivated fields, and they are renowned for their beautiful songs. The Elysian meadowlark is recognizable by the dawn-colored breasts of the males of the species.

Feeding Habits

Elysian meadowlarks forage for food on the ground. They feed mainly on insects and seeds.

Disposition and Social Habits

Like other meadowlarks, the Elysian variety has a colorful male and a plain, brown-colored female. The males use their colorful plumage and songs to attract and keep mates, as well as warn off rivals. They are usually found in small groups of three to five, which typically constitute a mated pair and their juvenile offspring.

Habitat

Elysian meadowlarks are only found in sunny fields surrounded by trees near Elysia.

Fylgia

Most compatible: Hawk

  • Meadowlarks, like hawks, are a type of bird, though much smaller.

Other notes

Elysian meadowlarks are considered too small to be useful food animals for the humanoids that live nearby. However, their feathers are used by some fletchers when making arrows. Many locals will pluck the feathers from live birds, and the feathers eventually grow back, but others will take the feathers after slaying the birds.
