History
Depending on point of view, the Web of Angadar is a vital counterbalance to Andrinor’s Trust or an irrelevant nuisance to push into the dustbins of history. Naturally, those who belong to this organization see it as the former. Through arduous study and dangerous missions orchestrated by the god Angadar, the Vortex of Mortal Magic was supposed to wind up under his control.  With this newfound power, Angadar intended to control all arcane matters to benefit himself, but also secondarily to expand the craft and encourage the methodical pursuit of knowledge by his subjects.  Through deceit and dishonor, the god Andrinor usurped the title instead, and Angadar continually devises methods to right that wrong.  The Web of Angadar is the incarnation of this grudge, pursuing the tenets of its deity but also scheming for the day when their patriarch will control the Vortex of Mortal Magic and rule over all mages.
Soon after the ascension of Andrinor in 1950 A.O.D, there was palpable dissent among mages, including Angadar, who, in addition to being a deity, was known during his mortal years as a powerful user of both Magic and Psionics.

As a counterbalance to Andrinor’s Trust, the Web of Angadar is both an attractor and repellent for mages. Its projects for seeking, researching, and storing arcane knowledge rival those of the Great Library of Mikona, but its anti-Andrinor stance can incriminate any member of The Trust that becomes too closely associated with the Angadarians.
Given the callous way in which the supposed new god of Mortal Magic dispatched the old Mage Orders and began to play careless jokes on his casters, mages were itching to seek revenge or undo the nightmare. They were appalled they now lived under a chaotic deity of magic who regarded them as his playthings.

Additionally, when the creation of The Trust robbed the hopes of Angadar and his followers for controlling magic, the psionic prowess of the deity and his followers came more to the forefront.  Much research on accessing magical energies through psionics came from this dynamic as a means of trying to access the Vortex of Mortal Magic without the knowledge or control of Andrinor. Success in this regard has been partial, and accessing magic through psionic intervention seems to still require some acquiescence from Andrinor, but the goal of using “psi-magic” to gain independence persists.
Through arduous study, determination, and the oversight of many dangerous missions orchestrated by the god Angadar, the Vortex of Mortal Magic was supposed to wind up under his control. Through deceit and dishonor, Andrinor usurped the title instead. To this day, Angadar continually devises methods to expand his influence, advance the Arcane and Psionic arts, and will eventually right that wrong and free all mages from the selfish, mongering Andrinor.

The Web of Angadar was originally founded as the incarnation of this grudge. Members both pursued the tenets of its deity as well as schemed for the day when their patriarch would control the Vortex of Mortal Magic and rule over all mages. In recent years, the Psionic prowess of Angadar and his followers has moved more to the forefront.

During the years of leadership under the Elysian Temple's High Priest, Rhys'lryn Si'Vidicuss and its Head Psion, Elladyr Faelanae, the Web worked together to orchestrate the founding of an inter-planer research center in the abandoned Grotto under the city. The Web was also instrumental in expanding Angadar's mantles of control to include Psionics. As a result, many non-Drangonari psions have recently turned to worship Angadar, hoping to gain Favored Psion status and increased power. In turn, this has led to an influx of new members into the Web.
The Web vs The Trust
Sometimes viewed as a counterbalance to Andrinor's Trust, the Web of Angadar is both an attractor and repellent for mages. However, the truth is much more subtle. As the god of Arcane Knowledge, Angadar has deemed fit to allow even those delusional enough to join The Trust the power to scribe scrolls, create wands, and invent magical devices of all sorts. In this way, Angadar continues to amass thousands of indirect followers, each who pays homage, knowingly or otherwise, to the god of Arcane Knowledge with every drop of ink and every imbued stone.

Ironically, even as Andrinor's followers must, in some way, pay homage to Angadar for their arcane knowledge, doing so openly can incriminate any member of The Trust who becomes too closely associated with the Angadarians. This is, from the Web’s perspective, all the more reason to abandon the mire of the Trust and embrace true freedom and power with Angadar. In addition, Angadar's secondary goal, as the patron of the Web, is to expand the craft of magic and encourage the methodical pursuit of arcane knowledge by ALL his devotees. Unlike those in The Trust who hoard their advanced magic specializations as a reflection of the selfishness of Andrinor, those who seek arcane knowledge or to hone their Psionic abilities will find Angadar will answer, even to non-believers.

Base of operations: Our temple in the Elysian Nobles' District, and most of the members are based in either Elysia or T'Nanshi.
It was the church of Angadar who originally revived the cause and coalesced the efforts of restoring control of magic to its rightful place. An Elven cleric of Angadar named Amonien Amana and other clerics of Angadar (with help and support from Grantir, the main city of Angadar's worship) organized mischief and misdirection events to disrupt Andrinor's Trust and collect information.

The purposeful disruption and interference caused within The Trust continued for many years and well into present times. However, with time comes wisdom and maturity, and followers of Angadar have generally become far more focused on discovering how to bypass the Vortex of Mortal Magic completely, with the ultimate goal to discover a source of magic even more powerful and thus leave Andrinor with his single domain of influence behind completely.

What we do: Angadar is certainly one of the more interesting intermediate deities in regard to the diversity his mantles--Arcane Knowledge, Trickery, and Deceit.
One particular area of concentration for research is on Psi-Magic, which aims to access magical energy through the use of Psionics. Current projects include research on expanding psi-crystals, both in size and storage capacity.

Arcane Knowledge: This branch of the Web specializes in arcane research. This should not be confused with mortal magic; Angadarians working under this mantle are interested in such things as portals, artifacts and relics, constructs, the creation of magical devices, the creation of enchanted items, etc. Mortal magic, i.e., the casting of spells, is Andrinor's field.
Amass All Knowledge of the Arcane
Vorin may govern the free exchange of information, but the Web understands Vorinites hamper themselves in any sort of serious pursuit of Arcane Knowledge by diluting their studies with a menagerie of unfocused topics. Instead, the Web hones its focus and attention in order to gather any and all information which might lead to further discoveries inside of the Arcane and Psionics, or any other related magical devices, artifacts, or creatures. They are dedicated to becoming the standard for research projects and magical inventions.

The Web's dedicated projects to find, research, and store Arcane Knowledge, have resulted in a database of knowledge that now rivals those of the Great Library of Mikona or any Trust Library known across Negaria. However, this project is far from over. Angadarians understand that they do not only seek that which they do not know, but that which they know they are not yet aware even exists. Being the first to discover or create a new piece of Arcane Knowledge drives the ambition of many in the Web.

As a subject near and dear to the heart of most any mage, the pursuit of Arcane Knowledge acts as the main draw for mages to take the risk of joining the organization and potentially defying The Trust. The Web of Angadar works to gather arcane knowledge from the deepest corners of the globe so it can be stored deep within the main magical library it holds within the underground levels of the city of Grantir. Rumors say the library is expansive and occupies two planes at the same time, the Prime Material Plane and a spot in the Nine Hells. Other rumors indicate this depository is a part of Angadar's personal library of arcane secrets from all around the Multiverse. Access to such a vast array of information such as this is not possible within The Trust, even with its own extensive libraries and the Great Library of Mikona.

As with most magical libraries, there is an accompanying laboratory. Within the bowels of Grantir near the Library of Angadar, you can find one such laboratory with mythical accommodations and equipment. Members of the Web of Angadar are eligible for reserve time to use it to do their experiments, and the lab is large enough for a great number of researchers to conduct independent studies.

The Advancement of Psionics and Psi-Magic
With Angadar claiming Psionics as a primary domain of control and the influx of new psions as members, the Web now seeks to support the advancement of Psionics and to spread the influence of Agnadar’s power throughout all the psions of Negaria.

This influx of new membership has brought a new energy to the advancement of Psi-Magic. A primary topic of study for psions and psi-mages, in particular, is how to use Psionics to eventually bypass the Vortex of Mortal Magic without the knowledge or control of Andrinor. In the past, success in this regard has been only partially successful. While accessing magic through psionic intervention seems to still require some acquiescence from Andrinor, the goal of Angadar's psi-mages is to eventually gain complete independence.

The Advancement of the Church of Angadar
The arts of Deceit and Trickery are employed by members in the construction of ruses to disrupt The Trust or further other goals, but the Web of Angadar is also peripherally involved in most conflicts around Negaria. This is partly because of Angadar's extensive interrelations and dealings with other deities and nations, but also partly because the members of this organization are renowned for their arts of disguise, illusion, and intrigue. In many cases, they rival the Orcs of Brekon and the rogues of the Ravens Guild in these pursuits. To this end, many members take on alternate roles in other organizations from which they gather information to form a true web of knowledge, contacts, and resources, both for personal gain as well as to advance the Church.

The clerical branch of the organization acts to support the other two branches but also to cover up any manipulations and crimes committed by the group. Their duty is to present a gentle face to the worshipers and non-members and give a veneer of guilt-free innocence. Of course, all beings versed in basic mythology know that Angadar is indeed a god of trickery and deceit. The clergy's mission is to make those acts harder to find.

Organization
Despite its history, the Web of Angadar is no longer an organization that exists solely for defeating Andrinor and remaking The Trust. Angadar's mantle of deific control covers several aspects: Arcane Knowledge, Deceit and Trickery, and Psionics. These areas of control all have interesting areas of overlap and support, and the Web of Angadar seeks to employ them accordingly. As such, the Web of Angadar is a hierarchical organization divided into specific areas of interest, so every member can focus on their personal area of interest and ambition.

Initiates to The Web are known as Faerniir ("Acolytes"). Faerniir are encouraged to work with members of all Sage Houses, in order to find their best fit. When full membership is earned, they become Sintar ("Sages") and while any member may work with any house as needed, Sintar pledge their primary oaths to follow one of the following House Leaders:

History

Soon after the ascension of Andrinor in 1950 A.O.D, there was palpable dissent among mages, including Angadar, who, in addition to being a deity, was known during his mortal years as a powerful user of both Magic and Psionics.

Given the callous way in which the supposed new god of Mortal Magic dispatched the old Mage Orders and began to play careless jokes on his casters, mages were itching to seek revenge or undo the nightmare. They were appalled they now lived under a chaotic deity of magic who regarded them as his playthings.

The Web Today - Top Four Goals

Bypass the Vortex of Mortal Magic

One particular area of concentration for research is on Psi-Magic, which aims to access magical energy through the use of Psionics. Current projects include research on expanding psi-crystals, both in size and storage capacity.
