Hailing from Bachwood, Kassha Firehart has spent most of his adult life as a flighty, fickle sorcerer who wandered in and out of trouble across southern M'chek. Nearing his 30s, Kassha’s happy go lucky stance has slowly changed as addictions, worry and war have taken a toll on his psyche. Despite all the chaos that seems to swirl around him, there are three constants that form the base “stool” upon all which the essence of Kassha stand, Red Order of the Flame, The Umbrella of Chaos, and the desire to become a Transmutant.

Consequences and Leaving

Kassha was the seventh child born to Peri and Sala Firehart on a small farm near Bachwood. With four older sisters and two older brothers Kassha soon learned the quickest way to get attention you had to stand out. Hasty schemes, ill laid plans, and a lack of attention to details quickly would mire the young Kassha in trouble; but some how his smile, his infectious care free attitude, and the grace of Forian would quickly wiggle him out of it... that is until Brianna Haggleshort. Brianna was with out a doubt the prettiest girl in the area; long red locks (to this day Kassha is a sucker for red hair), deep blue eyes, and an ample bosom guaranteed she always got her way. An un-repentant flirt, Kassha soon obtained Brianna's attention with treats of candy, flowers, and sweet words; all of this right under the nose of Brianna's fiancée, or so he thought. Unknown to Kassha, Brianna's fiancée was quite aware of Kassha's flirtations. At first he ignored them, but when he caught Kassha and Brianna sneaking off to a barn he confronted them in a jealous rage. The furious fiancée burst into the barn right at the height of Kassha and Brianna's erotic passion; naked, a little drunk, and really confused Kassha did the first thing that came natural to him ... he cast color spray. The spell worked, dazing the suitor while simultaneously staining random objects random colors. Brianna burst into tears at the sight of her favorite dress stained a deep orange; Kassha on the other hand was pleased that the magical misfire saved him from a severe beating and used the precious seconds obtained to gather his clothes, make a naked dash from the barn, taking a slight pause to admire his hair in a rain barrel. He at first was embarrassed that his luxurious raven black hair was now a deep royal purple; but as time has passed it has grown on him. Hearing Brianna's sobbing and a furious fiancée bursting from a barn, Kassha cast his second spell and quickly decided on a vacation; and headed north to the city of Elysia.

The Umbrella of Chaos

Random chance played a large part in forming Kassha's second most consistent trait; his devotion and use of the Umbrella of Chaos. In an early attempt to impress the beautiful, stern, and red headed Captain Pike, Kassha somehow managed to acquire skills with a wide variety of weapons and armor. Mimicking Captain Pike he first began devoting himself to the exclusive use of swords of an un-natural size; after all most of these swords were big, impressive and slightly scary; yet there was something so mundane about them. However after a fortuitous viewing of Marie's skill with a book and a fan, Kassha began to see that true prowess in battle was not the ability to cause damage, mow down your enemies or skill with a sword …. no, it was the ability to be flexible, do the unexpected, and seize the advantage in any situation. In an effort to mimic Marie’s skill in battle, be un-expected, and be fashionable Kassha began his study in what he calls the art of the umbrella. At first it was a simple flight of fancy that should have quickly been forgotten but slowly Kassha became more and more comfortable with umbrellas and less and less satisfied with swords, halberds, pikes, picks, mauls and staves. Despite all the flaws in wielding an umbrella in battle it is definitely unexpected, and those few moments of un-expectedness usually kept Kassha alive. What wasn’t unexpected though and what was a little vexing to Kassha was most umbrellas are not designed to smack against sand lizard scales, be shoved in bear maws, or crush beetle shells; in the process of perfecting the art of the umbrella, Kassha ended up destroying quite a few umbrellas. Still he persevered (which is most un-usual for Kassha, he really isn’t known for his perseverance to things) and his efforts were rewarded by finding the Umbrella of Chaos. Seized from the lair of OldFrostyGritchesAlot, empowered by magic, and tempered by the heat of battle; Kassha has transformed this umbrella into something that is more than the sum of it's parts; Kassha transformed it into the Umbrella of Chaos; or perhaps the Umbrella of Chaos was always the Umbrella of Chaos and it was just searching for a wielder; or perhaps Forian gave one to Kassha to spread a bit of chaos …. Who knows?

What Kassha does know is that slowly over time the Umbrella of Chaos has grown in power. Were only a single rune graced its tumultuous haft; three now play. The chaotic fabric that swirled between its sturdy ribs is now a uniform yellow, that when twirled just right is a confusing and maddening form of yellow. Even strange still it affords not just protection from rain but is able to ward off flames and heat. But perhaps most chaotically and most pleasing to Kassha is when the umbrella performs spectacular feats of magic. Kassha expounds the theory that the umbrella is actually soaking up residual magic, as well as blood, sweat, tears, and rain and when it has absorbed enough it spontaneously ejaculates the magic in an impressive and often surprising way. Occasionally in a drunken stupor Kassha will ask the Umbrella how it casts spells; so far the Umbrella hasn’t answered. Even more puzzling are the events that surround the Umbrella of Chaos. Since finding the umbrella, Kassha’s life has taken more twists, turns, and about faces than a Valokian’s scheme for power. From meeting himself, being among the first to meet Thanalos, having a pet Limbear, meeting a blue dragon bard, and having a slaad tell him they have a most urgent meeting that will occur in 1,000 years Kassha anxiously awaits what ever will happen to him next. He is a little worried that he will have to wait around 1,000 years and has considered and discarded several hobbies.

Fractured Foundations

It took the better part of five years but Kassha eventually graduated from the Academy of Mortal Magic. Many fellow mages were greatly disappointed that it took Kassha so long to actually graduate but, Kassha feels that the wide and varied experiences were better than all the theory taught in the Academy. He occasionally sneers at book learning but has come to accept that research, study, and learning are all important experiences and should not be ignored. Pleased that he was able to complete what so many mages have done before, Kassha left Visimontium and journeyed to Mikona, ready to take his place among his chosen family….Red Order of the Flame. Kassha settled into his new life and was content; his research slowed, his training suffered and he grew a bit fat. Things would have continued as they were but Kassha soon began to feel uneasy….almost as if he were a disappointment. Perhaps it was the umbrella, perhaps it was his conscious; it might have even been Magus Flenken reminders that Kassha was a failure and he needed to do something but eventually Kassha decided that he needed to be a man of action and he once more began pursuit of his third pillar; the desire to become a Transmutant.

When the war with Drotid broke out Kassha joined several other Flames and signed up with the army. At first it was a lark, a bit of fun, ash a few shaahesk and then go home for a celebratory drink. But after the death of Major Fyne, the destruction of the Dauntless and incessant slaughter something broke in Kassha. War lost it's shine and was replaced with the stench of battle. After winning the Copper Eagle Medal as a recruit it dawned on Kassha that he was another engine of destruction to the army; albeit a fairly effective engine of destruction. He embraced what he perceived to be his new role; the army wanted a body count so the army would get it, and consequences be damned. As several solitary patrols finally began to erode his psyche he turned to drinking to get through it. Soon drinking became his answer to everything, couldn't get the stench of blood out of your nose then have a drink, kobold screams ringing in your ears then have a drink, watching shaahesk patrols and bandits melt before you ... that requires two drinks. With that kind of mentality it didn't take long for the shakes to start.
