I have been on Avlis since Oct 2002 when my friends Ashlynn & Reinstag told me about it during several of our PnP sessions.
I joined the team after a month or so as a builder and I built several rows of the Wilderness server as well as a keep and some dungeon type areas. 
While I was working on some bugged transitions I sorta talked my way into fixing all of the transitions problems on the Wilderness and that then spilled over to other duties such as importing updates, restarting the servers as needed, doing restores, and general bug hunting. I then sorta picked up doing that on all of the servers, at the time we had Mikona, Wilderness, Le'Or and Elysia, and also started preforming a few Admin duties. 
At the same time I was doing this I started DMing and was the original Kelvos. 
In 2004 I became embroiled in real life to the point that I needed to step back some and I started turning over my duties to others who stepped up to become MC's and my Avlis time greatly decreased. Later that year I returned to some do some DMing but again I was forced by Real Life to back off as my wife and I had our home built on our ranch and I was without Internet for about 4 months. 
Currently I am active in the forums, and handle a good bit of the Admin work related to dealing with problem players as this is something that I can do over a dial up connection. I do hope to someday return to actively DMing, dusting off my Half-Elven bandits and have some fun. 
UPDATE: 2007
I am currently the Lead Producer and have been getting a little more active since I got a Broad Band connection. I have even logged in to play a little. :)

A '''Dungeon Master (DM)''' is a player who uses the [http://www.nwnwiki.org/DM_client DM client] and controls [[Wikipedia:Non-player character|NPC]]s and other aspects of the game for [[Wikipedia:Player character|player character]]s.

For the Players, a DM is a DM - whatever word is placed before the word DM.
All of them are part of the Team, so please feel free to ask any of us if you need help.

The DM hierarchy goes from high to low: Head DM - Elder DM - Veteran DM - Senior DM - Major DM - Minor DM - Apprentice DM.

DM's are not restricted to any one server, they can DM wherever they want. The category "Server" is just to show you what server the DM knows best, which could be usefull in communicating with the Team.

I then sorta picked up doing that on all of the servers, at the time we had Mikona, Wilderness, Le'Or and Elysia, and also started preforming a few Admin duties. 
At the same time I was doing this I started DMing and was the original Kelvos. 
In 2004 I became embroiled in real life to the point that I needed to step back some and I started turning over my duties to others who stepped up to become MC's and my Avlis time greatly decreased. Later that year I returned to some do some DMing but again I was forced by Real Life to back off as my wife and I had our home built on our ranch and I was without Internet for about 4 months. 
Currently I am active in the forums, and handle a good bit of the Admin work related to dealing with problem players as this is something that I can do over a dial up connection. I do hope to someday return to actively DMing, dusting off my Half-Elven bandits and have some fun.

Supporting the DM Team is your primary responsibility. You keep track of the day-to-day activities of the DM Team, and ensure that player questions are answered. You make decisions and recommendations to Orleron on all DM team applications and all Watchlist threads. This position reports to the Lead Producer.

===Responsibilities===
*Hire, promote and task DMs.
*Ensure DM coverage for peak server times.
*Make final decisions on player vault jails and make recommendations to Lead Producer on banning.
*Ensure all player emails and posts are answered by a Team Member within 24 hours.
*Ensure that all new player applications are approved within 48 hours.
*Work with the Lead Producer to formulate and implement DM policy, rules and organization.
*In conjunction with the Lead Producer add new rules/policies when they are needed, and keep current rules/policies updated.
*Ensure that a training program for apprentice DM's is in place and oversee the running of it.

===Requirements===
*Knowledge of the Avlis game world.
*Minimum 3 months of Avlis DMing experience.
*Ability to manage people and delegate tasks as necessary.
*Preferred PnP DMing experience.
*Preferred knowledge of D&D 3.0 and 3.5 PnP rules.
*Preferred knowledge of the Avlis PnP setting.

===Job Description===
It is your responsibility to monitor the team mailing list for DM applications and post them in the Team Application forum for review. Once a majority of the team has chimed in, you must make a final decision and send this recommendation to Lead Producer for approval. It is then your responsibility to ensure an acceptance or rejection email is sent to the applicant as appropriate. Applicants should expect to get a final response within two weeks of submitting their application.

When new apprentice and minor DMs are hired, it is your responsibility to assign an avatar and mentor to that DM and make sure they get the training and resources they need. After a DM has been trained, you are responsible for placing that DM on a particular server, based on need and best fit. You will be responsible for ensuring all DMs have all the tools necessary to do their jobs.

You will be responsible for approving guild sponsorships and ensuring guilds have active DMs. You will also ensure that the Team lists for sponsorships and server assignments are up-to-date. You will also update the list of DM avatars in the Ask the Team Forum.

It will be the Head DM's job to be aware of DM activity and make sure that we're not neglecting our players. This may entail shifting DM resources to match the playerbase. If we get a group of Australians showing up on Ferrell every night, but our Australian DM is primarily on Visi, it might be a good idea to shift their focus to the people playing in their timezone. As DMs gain experience, showing talent and increased knowledge of the Avlis world, you will make promotion recommendations to Orleron.

You will also be responsible for the Watchlist thread. You will moderate Watchlist discussions and make decisions on vault jailing and banning. In the case of banning, you will make recommendations to Lead Producer who will make final decisions. Once a decision has been made, you will indicate the decision made and ensure that the punishment (if necessary) is enacted.

You will monitor the Team mailing list and ensure that all issues are responded to within 24 hours. If an issue requires Team discussion, you will post a topic for discussion in the appropriate Team forum and let the sender of the mail know that we are discussing the issue. Team applications will be posted in the Team Applications forum and handled as noted above. Unsolicited subcontractor applications will be sent to the Lead Builder for consideration.

It will be your responsibility to make sure that all new player applications are answered within 48 hours.

You will be authorized to ask for Team volunteers and/or hire additional Team members (with approval) to delegate responsibilities assigned to you as needed.

I have been on Avlis since Oct 2002 when my friends Ashlynn & Reinstag told me about it during several of our PnP sessions.
I joined the team after a month or so as a builder and I built several rows of the Wilderness server as well as a keep and some dungeon type areas. 
While I was working on some bugged transitions I sorta talked my way into fixing all of the transitions problems on the Wilderness and that then spilled over to other duties such as importing updates, restarting the servers as needed, doing restores, and general bug hunting. I then sorta picked up doing that on all of the servers, at the time we had Mikona, Wilderness, Le'Or and Elysia, and also started preforming a few Admin duties. 
At the same time I was doing this I started DMing and was the original Kelvos. 
In 2004 I became embroiled in real life to the point that I needed to step back some and I started turning over my duties to others who stepped up to become MC's and my Avlis time greatly decreased. Later that year I returned to some do some DMing but again I was forced by Real Life to back off as my wife and I had our home built on our ranch and I was without Internet for about 4 months. 
Currently I am active in the forums, and handle a good bit of the Admin work related to dealing with problem players as this is something that I can do over a dial up connection. I do hope to someday return to actively DMing, dusting off my Half-Elven bandits and have some fun.
