Flenken was born as the eldest child of Dovaldom and Petinka (née Schnauzefascht) Jolliemausch. He has 3 siblings; a brother Klinkin who is 5 gnomish years younger, and two sisters, Geela (8 years younger) and Binkie (11 years younger). He also has an extended family of cousins, uncles, aunts, and other elders. By comparison, his immediate family is small compared to other branches of the clan. The extended family all lives within the same neighborhood of Minur-Khuzad, with many of them never traveling beyond the borders of the city, much less the Deglosian border.&lt;br /&gt;

Coming from a clan of hard-working miners and smiths, Flenken was expected to join the guild and work alongside his father and uncles until such time as he was accepted into the higher ranks of the guild. From there, the hope of Dovaldom was that his son would eventually take over his spot in the guild committee. However, this was not to be, as Flenken showed more interest in old books and scrolls than in rocks and gems. A brilliant student, he finally found a suitable teacher in the form of a local alchemist who had dabbled in wizardry. It was through this retired wizard that Flenken learned his first cantrips, and eventually a couple of first circle spells.&lt;br /&gt;

While Dovaldom was somewhat disappointed in Flenken's departure from the guild, he eventually accepted the change, even going so far as to buy Flenken a finely crafted spellbook to help with his learning. As he got older, Flenken found himself at odds with many of his peers, and females in general. As brilliant as his mind was, he lacked the confidence and ability to verbalize correctly much of the time. He had few friends, and no romantic pursuits to speak of. Often, he would find himself shuffling back home to read in peace rather than deal with others.&lt;br /&gt;

This changed for him when he happened upon a traveling dance troupe that stopped in Minur-Khuzad for a short stay before moving on. He noted the grace and confidence that the dancers exuded, and rushed to find a book on the basic routines. He studied each page, attempting to mimic the drawings and follow the instructions. Eventually, he found he could repeat the steps almost flawlessly, albeit somewhat slower than the intended beat. Flenken suddenly got the idea of using magic to aid in his steps, and found that an Expeditious Retreat spell would allow him to concentrate on his form and still move at the correct speed.&lt;br /&gt;

With magic on his side, and several books full of dance theory in his head, Flenken entered the local Minur-Khuzad Annual Dance Contest, held each year. He made it to the finals, only to see that what he had practiced from the book for a finale was actually being used by the other finalist who went first. The Red Order of the Flame is the reincarnation of the Yellow Order of the Old Fold of Nine.  Since its founding, the Red Order has held closely to the core philosophies of [[Andrinor|Andrinor]], God of Mortal Magic, including absolute freedom in practice of the Art.  Over time, it has increased its relationship with the Church of Andrinor, developing a generation of theurges (practitioners of both Divine and Arcane magics) dedicated to spreading the Will and Art of the Arcane Lord.  It has also become a leading body of research into wild magic.  Though it is the smallest of the Mage Orders, the Reds claim a greater percentage of Andrinorans than any other order.&lt;br /&gt;

He has 3 siblings; a brother Klinkin who is 5 gnomish years younger, and two sisters, Geela (8 years younger) and Binkie (11 years younger). He also has an extended family of cousins, uncles, aunts, and other elders. By comparison, his immediate family is small compared to other branches of the clan. The extended family all lives within the same neighborhood of Minur-Khuzad, with many of them never traveling beyond the borders of the city, much less the Deglosian border.&lt;br /&gt;

Coming from a clan of hard-working miners and smiths, Flenken was expected to join the guild and work alongside his father and uncles until such time as he was accepted into the higher ranks of the guild. The Red Order of the Flame is the reincarnation of the Yellow Order of the Old Fold of Nine.  Since its founding, the Red Order has held closely to the core philosophies of [[Andrinor|Andrinor]], God of Mortal Magic, including absolute freedom in practice of the Art.  Over time, it has increased its relationship with the Church of Andrinor, developing a generation of theurges (practitioners of both Divine and Arcane magics) dedicated to spreading the Will and Art of the Arcane Lord.  It has also become a leading body of research into wild magic.  Though it is the smallest of the Mage Orders, the Reds claim a greater percentage of Andrinorans than any other order.&lt;br /&gt;

To become an Initiate of the Red Order of the Flame, one need only have the sponsorship of the Order.  Sponsorship comes either from acknowledgment by an officer, or being apprenticed to a Red Mage in good standing.  Initiates are expected to be enrolled in the Academy of Arcane Magic.  Seeking out tutoring by an experienced Red Mage is highly recommended, though not required.  To become a mage fully vested the Red Order of the Flame, one must bear the Mark of Andrinor's Trust, acquired after graduating from the Academy.  Mages bearing the Mark of Andrinor's Trust need not go through the Initiate process to join the Red Order.&lt;br /&gt;

In his home city, Xal’Xantia is a name shrouded with as much mystery as infamy. Portrayed by the [[Angadar|Angadarian]] clergy and politicians as a rebel, vagrant, and thief, they capture the essence of Xal’Xantia’s public façade. Little known to the Grantir populace, Xal is an [[Andrinor|Andrinorian]] magus of growing power, and has self-appointed himself to the position of Senior Magus in Red (due to his station, not one person has voiced a complaint). Xal is exceptionally clever, and is fond of manipulating his foes into embarrassing situations where he can not be directly blamed. He is skilled in both magic and traditional rogue arts, and is not afraid to rely on his wits instead of his magic to get him out of trouble. He comes across as very even-keeled. Xal is well composed, honest (at least to those who aren’t trying to persecture him), and fair tempered. His mischevious streak isn’t even apparent unless you are on the blunt end of one of his schemes. He serves both Red and the Trust well in Grantir, keeping close track of both Andrinorians (of all colors) and Red mages and Andrinorian devout. He is also heavily involved in the thieves guild presence there, where he is respected and maintains a massive information and racketeering network. He enjoys lending a helping hand, and making his foes baffled at his ability to get in and out of places without being noticed. He has been captured on a number of occasions, but is slippery and always manages to find a way out. A truly talented Red, Xal’Xantia will be a force to be reckoned with as he matures in the Order.&lt;br /&gt;
