Um, 42, yeah that's it. 42. That's the answer to everything. Remember that, and you'll be fine. Now good. Always remember 42. Or was it 52?

We do whatever feels right in the moment. People spend too much time worrying about what they have done, or what they will do. They never see where they are, or what they are doing NOW. Even the ones who DO concentrate on the moment often spend a lot of time trying to categorize it or judge it. "Is this the right thing to do?" "How will this effect me down the road?" That's dire bear shit.

We are created into this life not for any purpose. There is nowhere to go, and nothing to do. We are already there. Where are we, one may ask? Here. Now. There is no journey. There is no goal. Everything that matters is right here, right now.

The above best sums up the outlook of Forian, whose influences are difficult to document, for example, when the gods set about creating their followers, Forian, always wanted a highly versatile and unpredictable race. He did not want them to have the unpleasant disadvantage of having only one form all their life. He also did not like the idea of depending on another god's advice when that would just take away from his individuality and originality. So, feeling especially unique one day, Forian went out alone and created the changelings, a race of beings that can change form. These beings immediately spread much confusion about Avlis. The confusion that they spread was not good, nor was it evil. It was just...well it was confusing.

So now what? If enlightenment is a crock, what do we do?

The answer is very simple. We do whatever feels right in the moment. When a bird flies through the morning air chirping, it doesn't worry about whether it SHOULD be chirping, or WHY it is flying. It simply chirps, and flies. If at the end of that chirping flight he nets himself a nice juicy worm, he does not reflect on all that flying and chirping he just did. He eats the worm as if the flying part never happened. Then he takes off again and looks for another worm, never contemplating his recent meal.

People spend too much time worrying about what they have done, or what they will do. They never see where they are, or what they are doing NOW. To know Forian's will, one must simply act in the NOW, without regard to past or future. If it feels good, hey, why not do it? If you don't want to do it, then don't. If you hate something, deal with it right then. If you like something, show it. Want to help someone? Go ahead. Only care about yourself? That's fine too.

All of it is fine, so long as you don't give it a second thought. Wars are fought, marriages are broken, and people are murdered all because of THOUGHT. Who need's it? There are no organized temples of Forian, they have no need for it, the mere erection of the temple building would require more disciplined organization than Forian desires, and to the best of this researchers knowledge, the organization of the church is such that even if a structure was erected in Forian's name, No cleric would have the time or the inclination to reside there.

The holy warrior of Forian, is like that of [[Mikon]], aptly named: "The confounder". It is not known for certain where or when Confounders came about. Some people even believe that they arose in several different places at the same time. It's entirely possible. It IS known, however, that they all follow Forian, and Forian's philosophy of self-gratification.

[[Ferrell]] is known to have a shrine to Forian.

Being a Changeling, AJ takes on different Facial features, hair styles, and even beard styles, when it suits his purposes. He usually can be recognized by wearing his prized cloak, a cloak from the Flame Prince. The otherworldly material has a soft feeling to him, and the slight brimestone oder it has, conjures visions of adventure in fair away realms.

The word "guild" here is actually a misnomer. Guilds in Avlis refer to organizations run by players. While some indeed are crafting and trading guilds focused on certain skills like alchemy or blacksmithing, others are religious groups, druid circles, monk enclaves, or just groups of people with similar interests. Guilds are a great place to meet PCs who have interests in common with your PC. They are also good places to find other PCs to adventure with or gain support from.

While a DM sponsor is necessary when a guild is initially formed, after that the organization is wholly run by players. Guilds get their own private forum in the Avlis forums to discuss guild matters. They also get guild tokens, items they can wear that identify them as members of that guild. Some guilds even have their own uniforms and magic items.

To join a guild it is best to ask around about that guild in-game by speaking with PCs. If you are unable to find a member of that guild online (perhaps due to time zone differences), then it is acceptable to send a PM to the moderator of the guild's forum.

== Guild Types ==

There are '''TWO''' kinds of guilds on Avlis: One kind created by players, and one kind created by the people who made Avlis.

These differences are very practical, and you should keep them in mind.

=== Guild Type 1: Player-Made Guild ===

Examples of this are STEAL, AAAA, AAKN, Order of --Insert Here--.

Players conceived of and made these guilds. They thought them up, and they proposed them to DM's. The process then began for them to become manifest on the server.

ICly, the members of these guilds are only Players (NPC merchants don't count). So if Order of --Insert Here-- has 6 PC's, then ICly, the ENTIRE Order has 6 people in it.

If I were ever to write a sourcebook for Avlis, there would most likely not be any mention of these groups, for many reasons, possibly for legal ones too.

=== Guild Type 2: Built-In Avlis Guild ===

Examples of this are both M'Chek/T'Nanhsi armies, Raven, Shadow Dirks, Church of --Insert God name--, Elysia Defense Force (EDF), Government of --Insert country/city--, and eventually the Mage Orders

"Guild" is actually a bad name for these groups. They are not guilds. Guilds are groups that players use to get together socially and fullfill some common goal they have among themselves. These groups don't do that. These groups are an integral part of Avlis' religious, social, government, and magical structure. They are VERY different from typical guilds.

For example when you are in Raven, you are not part of a guild with 20 people in it. You are part of a guild with 20 *PC'* in it and about a thousand *NPC* thieves. Someone who is a high cleric of a church in an area is not just in control of 6 or 8 clerics played by PC's, they are in control of hundreds or thousands of followers of their god in their area, few of which are actually represented by NPC's.

Having said all that, depending on what kind of group you belong to (type 1 or 2), your group and its members will be treated differently by not necessarily the DM's, but the WORLD itself. The DM's are only a manifestation of that. Sometimes, for example, when something is done against a type 2 organization and it is only witnessed by a DM, the DM will report it to the PC leader of that organization. Why? Because there are THOUSANDS of members of that organization, and chances are that one of them saw you do it. Just because it was not a PC, doesn't matter. It's not DM favoritism, it's the world reacting to your actions. Still, the DM's only do it when it would make sense in that context.

== Creating Your Own Player Run Guild ==

There are some criteria that your guild must match before getting official guild status on Avlis:

# Your guild must fit in with the existing background of Avlis (this is the most important one)
# Your guild must have a serious group of players that are active enough to support its continued existence. Somewhere in the region of 8 to 10 characters that are on regularly is what you should aim for at the least.
# You need a DM sponsor. One of the DMs must agree to help you get organised as a guild and he will be there for the guild to ask the questions from.

== Identifying Le'Megen Officers ==

Le'Megen T'Elysia officers can be identified by their distinctive uniforms. Officers wear all silver helmets, Captains/Senior officers wear silver helmets with gold trim, and Commanders wear gold helmets with silver trim.

We are society Primarily comprised of rangers and druids, though we do have other champions of nature. The primary criteria for membership requires the Candidate to demonstrate a strong connection to Nature; the commitment of which, is reflected in the taking of the oath. Interested Candidates should seek out an ranger or druid, or simply tell the forest. The plants and animals are our eyes and ears.
