Psionics
MixedKnowledge

More than a character of any other class, the psionicist is self-contained. Unlike the fighter and thief, he needs no weapons or tools to practice his art. Unlike the priest, he needs no deity. Unlike the wizard, he relies on no outside energies. His power comes from within, and he alone gives it shape.

The psionicist strives to unite every aspect of his self into a single, powerful whole. He looks inward to the essence of his own being, and gains control of his subconscious. Through extraordinary discipline, contemplation, and self-awareness, he unlocks the full potential of his mind.

— Mr. Nathan

Psionics in Dungeons and Dragons
Psionics - powers of the mind such as telepathy and telekinesis - have been a feature of Dungeons and Dragons since at least the 1st edition of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D). In each edition of the game, their implementation has varied quite extensively. Neverwinter Nights did not include psionics, but a Hak based on the 2nd Edition AD&D version of psionics was produced by Mr Nathan and this forms the basis of psionics as implemented on Avlis.

Psionics within the world of Avlis
The psions of Avlis are generally well-received in many nations. This was especially true in orcish society where sorcerers and wizards were illegal. Consequently, the nations Brekon and Dubunat have become bastions of psionic learning and study for many, and this influence has spread especially to the Kurathene Empire, where psions have been called "mindbenders" and found useful as guardians on ships... with far less chance of catching sails on fire.

Though their numbers are primarily highest in the western parts of the continent, psions have been popping up in other areas too and generally meeting with acceptance. Those who see them realize the discipline it takes to become one, and many psion orders are either associated with or part of existing monastic orders. The close association between monks and psions is born of their common penchant for discipline. Whereas monks try to unify mind and body, psions try to transcend the body and become the mind. The two philosophies are compatible for the most part, though monastic and psionic orders that are in conflict with one another do exist, for example the Order of The Way and the Order of the Will.

In 2261 O.D. Angadar somehow added psionics to his areas of control and declared himself the god of psions.

Psionics as a System
Psionics on Avlis has been developed from Mr Nathan's hak, with particular reference to two 2nd Edition AD&D sources: The Complete Psionics Handbook & The Will and The Way, and adjusted to function appropriately on Avlis.

Psionic Powers
*Psionic powers are implemented as feats. Some are passive (e.g. Expansive Mind), but most are active. They allow the psion to manifest a power. This is like a spell, and is implemented in NWN in much the same way.

*Unlike spells, manifestations always have a failure chance, tied to the power score. You can try again, while you have sufficient psionic strength points (PSP).

*Powers which affect another entity allow a save to avoid or reduce the effects, and have a Difficulty Class (DC) that determines how hard that save is to make.

Power score & power check
* A power check is a d20 roll against that ability's power score. The lower the roll, the better. For example, the Psychometabolism ability Accelerate has a power score of "CON-2". So, if your CON is 16, you need a 14 (CON-2) or under to succeed.
* In-game feedback tells you what you rolled, and the adjusted power score, as well as the remaining PSPs, e.g. "Success: 8 (14), Remaining PSPs: 118."
*If you fail the power check, a concentration check is made. If it succeeds, you lose 1/4 of the cost of the power; if it fails, you lose 1/2 of the cost.
* Every 10 skill points of concentration will give a +1 bonus to the power check. Skill points gained by items are ignored in this calculation. Given a maximum skill rank of 43 at character level 40, a character could get a +4 bonus to all power checks.

DC's for powers
*12 + 1/2 PsionLevel + applicable stat modifier, except for Ultrablast and Contact which start at 10 and 16 respectively.<br>

Psionic strength points
*At first level: PSP = {(WIS - 5) * 2} + (CON - 15) + (INT - 15) + Feats taken at first level, where (stat-15) has a minimum of zero.<br>

*Each new level: PSP = current total + {(PsionLevel-1) * (WIS-5)} + Feats taken at that level, where (WIS-5) has a minimum of 10.<br>

PSP are recalculated whenever one of these elements changes (i.e. WIS, CON or INT increases or decreases, PsionLevel changes, appropriate feat taken) using a single formula that combines those above:<br>

*PSP = {(WIS - 5) * 2} + (CON - 15) + (INT - 15) + Feats + {(PsionLevel-1) * (WIS-5 (Min = 10))}<br>

Detecting psionic activity
* Spellcraft check: When a psion uses a power, any visual effects are IC. Anyone standing close enough to a psion using a power will automatically make an IC spellcraft check. If the spellcraft check succeeds, you know what power was just used, and you now know that the character is a psion. If this check fails, you have no knowledge beyond the visual effects - unless you are also a psion, in which case you will recognise that a psionic power was used, just not what it was. A PC with 0 Spellcraft won't have any clue at all.

This is a compromise between 2nd Edition and 3rd Edition rule sets. In 2E only other psionicists can detect psionic activity and they have to use a power to do it. Otherwise, you can only guess at psionic activity when you see the end result; in 3E the Psicraft skill was added that would allow you to make a check to determine if you recognized a power, but only if you perceived the display, which could be something like the psion's eyes glowing or a deep humming sound in the area, etc. To further complicate that, psionicists could suppress the display if they made a concentration check.

*Glowing eyes: The eyes of a creature manifesting a psionic power glow for a couple of seconds; this is something lifted from the 3rd edition ruleset. Note, however, than your PC's knowledge is determined by the spellcraft check. Even if you as a player know that the eyes of a psion glow when a power is manifested, your character only knows what the results of the spellcraft check reveal.

Now, since we don't have a Psicraft skill or an easy way to implement much of that other stuff, and in the interest of allowing other players to be able to detect when psionics are used, the current compromise is that you can use Spellcraft to detect a psionic power, but you have to be close enough to sense the "display" - and be successful in your skill check.

Restrictions
To become Psions, PCs must be non-Chaotic. Lycanthrope PCs CANNOT use Psionic powers, regardless of their alignment.

|Introduction= Cows were one of the last animals to be domesticated, and one of the few animals not to have been domesticated by humans. When the dwarven hero Fegall rose to godhood and his followers formed the nation of Deglos, the dwarf and gnome citizens were free to venture aboveground to the mountains above their home, unlike the dwarves of their northern neighbor Galdos, whose cities are completely underground. One of the creatures they came across in their exploration of the mountains was the auroch, known in Common as the dire ox, one of the largest herbivores to ever exist on Negaria. These explorers decided to tame and domesticate the aurochs, and eventually formed a clan devoted to doing so. They captured and selectively bred the animals to make them smaller and more manageable, with the idea of eventually shifting them to a diet of mushrooms and moss and moving them underground. This plan was halted when rothe were discovered in the deep Underdark. Unfazed, Deglosian traders saw an opportunity, and began selling domesticated cows to the surface nations of the south, such as M'Chek and Ferrell. In Deglos cows are no longer kept, though pack oxen are still used to pull caravans.
|Feeding_Habits= Cows are herbivores. They will chew a cud, and have four stomachs so that plants can be fully broken down and digested. They typically eat grasses, though domestic cows are sometimes fed hay, beans, corn, grains, silage, and even beer.
|Disposition_Social_Habits= Cows form a herd, as their ancestors the aurochs do. Domesticated cows usually have a loose hierarchy that only becomes more pronounced when food is scarce. Dominance is usually determined by size, weight, and horn size.
|Habitat= It is thought that aurochs originated in the wet grasslands of northern Jechran, and proliferated across Negaria from there. Similarly, cows are most often kept in grasslands or similar areas where they can graze, though they are better suited to drier climes than their ancestors.
|Other_Notes= Though cows were one of the last animals to be domesticated, they have been selectively bred for a long time into specific breeds for different tasks. Some breeds are designed for strong males than can be used as oxen to pull plows, and even more specialized breeds to carry packs for caravans. Dairy cows have been bred to produce an abundant supply of milk for drinking or to make cheese and butter. Beef cows have been bred to be slaughtered for their meat and hide, which can be used to make leather. In some cases calves are slaughtered for their meat, known as veal.

Known as Svip by all he's met, Svip is a druid shifter who doesn't much care for people. He tends to be awkward with groups and his personalities vary like his shapes.

OOC info below:
In his various shapes he likes to test people and learn what he can about humanity from various interactions.
Often times he will take a shape and stay in it for days, weeks, or longer to fully understand what the life of that creature/shape is.
-- One of Svip's first companions. Griz has been with him for a long long time and probably knows him better than most any being. The two both share a distaste for big cities and love a good nap.

Grumpus (Sandlizard)
-- Ever since Svip saw one of these magnificent creatures he wanted to invite one to be a companion. After much work and finally a bit of help from Teleniel, he found a (somewhat) willing companion. Training Grumpus was quite a task and Svip quickly learned to avoid the swinging tail... Eventually, Svip learned that Grumpus would be much happier out in the desert wastes with his own kin.

Slyth (Ice Viper)
-- Svip found Slyth, quite sick and nursed him back to health. After a great deal of training, Slyth has become quite the companion and is very protective of Svip.

Other companions he has been seen with:
Drac (dracolisk)
-- Svip is always looking to learn about new creatures and see what they are willing to share with him. Svip found Drac in the caves of Ferrell and Svip has probably been teaching Drac about as much as Drac has taught him.

Snaer (white wolf)
-- After the passing of Slyth, Svip found Snaer near Grovehaven, after looking for the original viper nest where Slyth was found.

Slythly (small ice viper)
-- Svip was looking to find a friend similar to Slyth, and was looking for giant ice vipers but found Slythly and his friends. But small ice vipers are not the same species as giant ice vipers... And the pairing, while educational, was not ideal. Svip was taking Slythly out of Visimontium and could tell he wasn't happy, so Svip left him there, to go back to his friends.

Sir Stinks-a-lot (skunk)
-- Svip found Sir Stinks-a-lot in Coldshadow. He was scared and pushed out into a tower by the edge of town. They quickly bonded and Svip took him out of Coldshadow and they are currently looking for a new place for Sir Stinks-a-lot to live.

Squawk (Dire Stirge)
-- There is a great deal to learn from the Dire Stirges of Ferrell and Svip has spent quite a bit of time with them... Him and Squawk became good companions and would fly all over Ferrell. Squawk often forgets his more wild like natural abilities so Svip will often let him go back to the wild, so he doesn't completely become tame.
History and Overview
The Avariel were almost completely wiped out by the Drangonari during a war that destroyed their former home of Toostan-of-the-Clouds, between 200 to 225 years ago (adding in current time).Rumor has it that in his mortal days, an Avariel female once tried to assasinate Angadar, and nearly suceeded. (This woman was a close friend of Angadar's wife at the time, Demetria). Angadar was outraged, and lashed out at the Avariel woman, his anger consuming her-- but his anger did not stop there. Angadar created the drangonari race in revenge, as a twisted mockery of the Avariel. The drangonari built the multilayered city of Grantir in Drotid. This was too near the Avariel city of Toostan-of-the-Clouds, and a war ensued. In that tumultuous battle, the dragons of good and evil sided with the Avariel and the Drangonari respectively, and the skies were filled with them. In the end, the city of the Avariel was razed, and all Avariel were thought to be extinct, however....

A small population led by Queen Adathi retreated into the mountains, and hid themselves away in small isolated villages, struggling to survive, with the largest collection of them living in a succession of small treetop villages in Galdos and Deglos. Because some survived, Angadar took further measures. The Avariel were the subject of a terrible double curse, one that sapped their strength, making it extremely difficult to fly, and flying long distances were out of the question. The curse also rendered the Avariel infertile, and so the population kept dwindling after the war. (Most Avariel realize the tie between the drangonari, Angadar, and the curse’s origins coming from Angadar). The Avariel tried everything they could to lift the curse, but to no avail. Finally, Queen Adathi realized that if something drastic wasn't done, the Avariel would disappear forever. She heard of a new God, one of Healing, and hoped that that deity would be able to help the Avariel. So she traveled south herself, with two companions, in secret, to Zvidureth, to speak to the Healers of Cha'reth to appeal to them for help.

Adathi told the Healers about the curses and that they needed outside help to remove them, as everything they (the Avariel) had tried failed. The Healers agreed to try to remove the curse, and do everything they could to save the race. Because of the dire threat to the race, they agreed to keep the information secret.

High priestess Eldraea, Michel, Rika Vandor, Divinia Cecil, and Ere'n'dhl were the Healers that at various stages helping to solve this dilemma to heal the Avariel, though Eldraea and Rika were the two at the end that made a sacrifice that undid the final part of the dual curse. Part of the price for the Avariel was the loss of the ability of fly—this put them on par with the drangonari who also lost this ability. Though the curse was considerably more involved, the specific details are only known to Queen Adathi, her advisors, and the Healers, and certain others who were involved. In homage to Cha'reth, who made the lifting of the curse possible, many of the Avariel, including the Queen, began worshipping Cha’reth, and although there are other deities worshipped or paid respect to among the Avariel, Cha’reth is their primary god.

After the curses were lifted, Avariel started being seen in Visimontium. Some time later, the Avariel started getting pregnant, and bearing children again. Queen Adathi herself gave birth to twin girls. This was a cause for great celebration among the Avariel. After this event, Avariel started traveling the lands of Negaria again, especially southern Avlis. While Avariel are still fairly rare, they are being seen in greater numbers as time goes on.

In AR 6, four years after the events of The Humbling of Angadar, with the help of the Church of Cha'reth, Queen Adathi met with the humbled and incarnated Angadar and forgave his crimes against her people.

Other Notes
Avariel are mechanically identical to Avlissian High Elves, except for the (now nonfunctional) wings. No Avariel can fly (nor can any Drangonari), though all Avariel have wings. The wings do not convey any benefits or cause any restrictions.
Physical Description
Avlissian Elves (directly form the players guide) Generally akin to a high elf in 2nd Edition AD&D terms. Their skin tones range from milky white to a mild tan, although there are sometimes grayish or bluish undertones visible in rare individuals. Their hair can range from a deep black or blackish green, to a bright blonde or red, much like the human hair colors. The almond shaped eyes of these elves can cover the entire human range of blues, greens, and browns, but violet is also seen. All other statistics for physical stature and size, as well as game play, are identical to high elves.
Angadar began his deific career as the god of Arcane Knowledge. Arcane knowledge is defined as any facts pertaining to magic spells, artifacts, items, people, places, deities, and similar things. Casual followers of Angadar once sought his knowledge for a number of reasons ranging from helpful to odious. However, the more serious followers of Angadar believed that Arcane Knowledge, as Angadar saw it, was to be used as a weapon. "He who dies with the most knowledge does not die," was the general motto of Angadar's faithful.

Not too long before the beginning of the Second Fairy War, Angadar was involved with the death of the goddess Tianna, lover of Valok and former goddess of Deceit and Trickery. He was able to assume her mantle as a product of her death circumstances, and although Tianna's followers did not believe it at first, assuming it to be another of her tricks, they eventually warmed up to Angadar.

Angadar created the race of Drangonari Elves as his own by corrupting the Avariel, and he remains strongly associated with them.

Angadar was the patron of all those who seek power through gaining knowledge of magic and other arcane facts. As a mortal, Angadar worked very hard to amass as much power and magic as he could in order to advance himself. Becoming the most powerful spellcaster in history was always his goal. When he was master of Arcane Knowledge, Deceit, and Trickery, he was constantly seeking new means to extend his influence among gods and mortals, be they wizards or not.

Angadar was a psion when he was a mortal. In 2261 O.D. through consuming the corpse of Auppenser, Angadar gained control of Psionics in Avlis and added it to his portfolio.

In 2 A.R., during an event now known as "The Humbling of Angadar", Angadar was stripped of the mantles of Deceit, Trickery, and Arcane Knowledge by the gods Ethraeli, Stephanus, and Andria respectively, aided and abetted by a group of mortal agents. Since then, Stephanus has gained uncontested theocratic control over Grantir, and Angadar's holy places in Grantir have been destroyed, vandalized and desecrated.

Elysia has a temple to Angadar, and Deglos has a shrine.

The weretiger Stephanus was a companion of the god Angadar when they were both mortals. When Angadar ascended to godhood, Stephanus was placed in charge of the holy city of Grantir, where the Drangonari built their city. Under the leadership of Stephanus, Grantir became a stronghold for the followers of Angadar in a land surrounded by their enemies the Shaahesk and the Avariel. Shortly after leading the armies of Grantir through the destruction of the avariel city of Toostan, Stephanus and Bobil were elevated to demigods by Angadar.

Though Stephanus had no mantle when he first ascended, over time he put his expertise into practice acquired the mantle of Finesse. His worshippers, who were largely based in Grantir, began to exert their influence in tandem with that of Angadar. In those days, Stephanus' followers played a role as spies and guardians for the people of Grantir, while they conducted their own business behind the scenes. The worshippers of Stephanus had become quite adept at subtly obtaining their own agenda.

In 2 A.R. Stephanus conspired with the goddess Ethraeli and later Andria through his Immortal, the drangonari wizard Vivienne, to betray Angadar and Bobil. Stephanus' role in what came to be called "The Humbling of Angadar" was crucial, and may have been the originator of the idea to target Angadar and Bobil from the beginning. Through his betrayal he gained Angadar's mantle of Trickery and a mere 4 years later, sole theocratic control over the city of Grantir.

* Center of Worship: Visimontium

Andria is the sole steward of the magic drawn from the Mortal Magic Vortex. Whenever a wizard, bard, or sorcerer casts a spell, they are drawing energy from the Mortal Magic Vortex.

Once, the god Andrinor was the master of Mortal Magic. In the Year of the Red Star, 2271 A.O.D., Andrinor vanished. His eldest daughter, Andria, took custody over Mortal Magic and directed the Orders of Andrinor's Trust to reform [1] under the Academy of Mortal Magic.

Andria's church remains informal and is not heavily organized. It remains common for her clerics to double as wizards or sorcerers. These individuals are granted cleric spells from Andria as normal through the God Magic Vortex but it should be noted that Andria's clerics remain unable to Detect Alignment of any type as Andrinor's were.

In 2 A.R., Andria aided Ethraeli and Stephanus in their schemes against Angadar and Bobil, which came to fruition in the event now called "The Humbling of Angadar". Though not privy to their plans until they came to her for aid, the young goddess was made an offer she could not in good conscience refuse. In exchange for her aid in creating the ritual to summon, bind, and weaken Bobil, she was offered the opportunity to take Angadar's mantle of Arcane Knowledge. Confronted with the possibility of the mantle instead falling into the hands of Ethraeli, Stephanus, or traded away by either one to an equally belligerent deity as Angadar, and the opportunity to make whole two mantles that should have never been set apart, Andria agreed.

Because Andria hoped to see a reconciliation between herself and Angadar, she refrained from making a killing blow when she could have done so. In time, this hope was realized. [2]

Andrinor was often disorganized and unpredictable in his methods, but out of necessity people of all races and alignments worshipped him. While many did so with enthusiasm, others did so grudgingly. This is because Andrinor considered magic a delicate art that needed to be respected, and he took great care to enforce it.

Andria has a temple in Visimontium, and a shrine in Mikona. Each branch of the Academy of Mortal Magic includes a chapel dedicated to Andria as well.

Description: A psion is the master of mind. Unlike a warrior or thief, a priest or mage, he is not reliant on outside entities, energies or items to pursue his art. His power is from within, and it is his mind that focuses and directs that power. Introspection and mediation, delving into the varied, perhaps fragmented, perhaps dark, corners of his own mind, to discipline and control the subconscious, is the path of the psion. Deeper understanding, greater self discipline and stronger focus unlocks more and more of the power of the mind, allowing the psion to discover a greater range of mental powers.
Psions take many paths, some seeking to master their own bodies with the power of the mind, some mastery of others’ minds. Still others may pursue a path that allows them to control time and space, or to gain knowledge beyond the range of normal senses. While some psions use their powers to augment other martial skills, many typically disdain the use of physical weapons or armour in favour of the raw power of their minds; nevertheless, even these will often carry a weapon or two for times when their minds are taxed or tired.
Overview
The Drangonari Elves are an elven race created by Angadar soon after his ascension to godhood. The name is derived from a combination of the words "dragon" and "Angadar."

Physical Description
Drangonari Elves appear mostly elven in form, except they have scales much like a lizard in colors ranging from the darkest green to a bluish color. Their hair is always black, and their eyes contain slit pupils and range in color from gold to dark brown, with the occasional violets and greys. They can spit fire and acid.

History
According to legend, an avariel female once tried to assassinate Angadar in his mortal days, and nearly succeeded. This individual was a close friend of his then wife, Demetria, and Angadar was outraged by the betrayal. His anger lashed out against the avariel woman, consuming her, but it did not stop there. Angadar vowed revenge on the avariel race itself. This revenge was embodied in the race he created. When first created, the drangonari were avariel transformed into a mockery of themselves, complete with reptilian, demon-like wings and no memory of their former life. The newly created race settled on the east coast of the main continent and began to build the multilayered city of Grantir in present-day Drotid.

Shortly after the time of the rescue of Angadar's daughter Jade from the Nine Hells (see timeline), a war occurred between Grantir and the nearby avariel city of Toostan. In that tumultuous battle, the dragons of good and evil sided with the avariel and drangonari respectively, and the skies were filled with draconic combat. When the dust had settled the city of Toostan was razed, and all avariel were assumed eradicated. In the aftermath, all but the oldest drangonari lost their wings. As a result, it is exceptionally rare to see a drangonari elf with wings in the present day, and those who do are typically the result of a blessing directly from Angadar.

Relations
Drangonari Elves had an inborn hatred for the Avariel Elves as a result of their creation. Since shortly after The Humbling of Angadar, they no longer have any inborn hatred toward any race, though that does not prevent upbringing, cultural mores, religious beliefs, or propaganda from reinforcing and perpetuating old hatreds. Drangonari tend to distrust Shaahesk because Grantir is almost constantly under attack by Shaahesk armies.

Alignment
Drangonari trend toward lawfulness, but not exclusively.

Drangonari Lands
The original home city of the Drangonari is Grantir. As a race, the drangonari are at home in virtually any environment. Within the city of Grantir itself, there is a layer in the trees, on the ground, and below the ground as well. A drangonari can thrive just as easily below ground as they could in a treetop metropolis. Since after the Humbling and Stephanus' coup in Grantir, there has been a massive emmigration of drangonari fleeing the city and resettling in the south, particularly in Elysia and T'Nanshi.

Religion
Grantir was run as a theocratic triumvirate, with Angadar as the supreme head of the city and below him his two demigod assistants Stephanus and Bobil. Since the Humbling, the balance of the triumvirate has been shattered utterly. In the present day, Grantir is ruled as a theocratic autocracy, rooted in the faith of Stephanus. The faith of Angadar is severely and violently persecuted by the government, with other faiths merely tolerated and treated as second-class. Among the drangonari diaspora Angadar remains popular, with Vorin being a close second. However, with being exposed to many other peoples, the drangonari diaspora frequently are adopting the cultures and faiths of their new homes.

Language
Angadar was originally from Faerun (of the D&D Forgotten Realms campaign setting), and taught his creations his native language. As such, the Drangonari elf language is Faerun elvish. Their written language is Espruar, a Faerun elvish script, and they will often write both Faerun elvish and Common in Espruar.

Faerun elvish was never fully developed as a language; the only known words come from D&D sourcebooks and novels. DMs and players on Avlis have sometimes substituted Quenya or Sindarin, elvish languages developed by JRR Tolkien, for Faerun elvish.

Since a shortly after The Humbling of Angadar, they no longer have any inborn hatred toward any race, though that does not prevent upbringing, cultural mores, religious beliefs, or propaganda from reinforcing and perpetuating old hatreds.

The Drangonari Elves are an elven race created by Angadar soon after his ascension to godhood. The name is derived from a combination of the words "dragon" and "Angadar."

Name
Like many Adomkuro, Lily did not use her given name when introducing herself. She instead offered several flower-based names, until she settled on calling herself "The Prophetess."

Prophet has two meanings. First, a prophet is an individual who claims to have been directly contacted by a deity, who speaks for that deity and serves as an intermediary to mortal races. This role is often served by an Avatar, but this carries with it its own risks, as the Avatar must bear a portion of the deity's power, and risks diminishing or weakening the deity should the Avatar be harmed or killed. With that risk is certainty, because the deity's followers can have no doubt that what the Avatar proclaims, is the unequivocal will and teaching of the deity. A prophet is a mortal agent, with mortal weakness and mortal fallibility, prone to misinterpreting the messages they receive from their god or goddess, or twisting that message for their own personal gain.

Second, is someone that foretells the future. Because of the religious connotation, it is often thought that a prophet foretells future events as a result of the divine revelation they receive, in contrast to other methods of foretelling such as Fatespinning or traditional Romini folk practices.

After forming the Sinity, Lily abandoned her alias and began using her given name, Lily of the Valley. When she later married, she took Owen's surname for her own.

Appearance
Like others of her kin, her hair and eyes are raven black, with the signature alabaster pale skin of her people. Of note are the silver white ring around the irises and the tips of her voluminous and curly hair. She has a curvy, classic hourglass figure. By no means waifish, she might instead be described as, in the parlance of the modern day, "thicc."

Lily Thayt'or has her hair parted to one side with an enamel hairpin keeping it in place. This one-of-a-kind pin is expertly crafted, with the white petals of the lily specially designed to look as realistic as possible against her dark hair. Her other notable jewelry include her amulet and the ring on her left hand. The amulet depicts the holy symbol of Aarilax: a kris-like dagger whose blade transitions into a venomous viper. The ring rests on the third finger of her left hand, the traditional place for an engagement or wedding ring. Though Lily will gladly and proudly admit to being married--to three people at once, no less--this ring does not represent her marriage to any one of them individually, but rather their Union. The ring was first forged by her husband Owen, then imbued with the magic of all three spouses: Owen, Emma, and Auryna. The Goretharium band is set with four semi-precious stones: an onyx, a malachite, an aquamarine, and a lapis lazuli. The combination of such a rare and powerful alloy framing such humble stones creates the sense that the people the stones represent are strengthened by being set in this band of Unity.

More recently, Lily has taken to wearing two rings of significance each of her pinky fingers. On the left is a ring of dark metal set with a malachite stone flecked with gold. It signifies her membership in the Order of Aarilax. The right has a simple band, with the Daybreak sigil etched into the center.

Origins: The Dark City and the Dead Dreamer
Lily is the product of a dock worker and a prostitute. Couplings with prostitutes are fairly common in Verloghokbol indiscriminate of gender. Lily's mother is a malignant narcissist, and initially wanted to sell her unborn child into slavery for drug money. Lily's father, meanwhile, is kind and sentimental, at least in comparison to the mother, and instead offered to 'buy' the child from her to raise himself. Though only a dock worker, Lily's father has a fascination with Surface botany, particularly flowers, and so he named his daughter after his favorite.
Lily began experiencing Dreams when she was in her teens, when her psionic talent was first blooming. Most followers of the Dreamer are psions, because their minds are more receptive to the Dreams. Lily's Dreams tended towards imparting subliminal, unconscious knowledge and mastery over her psionic ability, which caused her to associate the Dreams and the Dreamer who sent them with knowledge and power, and so grew to worship and serve the Dreamer as a priestess in this way. By the time she had reached her thirties, the Dreamer commissioned Lily to venture towards the Surface.

Jalustriel
Over the course of several months, Lily became embroiled in a struggle against a cabal known as Valarauko'Noss. During this struggle, she experienced prophetic dreams that she assumed were sent by the Dreamer. Instead, these dreams were sent by Jalustriel.

Jalustriel was once an angel that led Gorethar's armies in the Seven Heavens. He was a veteran of many battles against demonic and devilry forces. He grew tired of service, and sought to dethrone Gorethar. He failed in his mutiny and was cast out of the Heavens. He aligned himself with devils and became known as Jalustriel the Fallen. he then reoriented his goals to overtake the Heavens with an army of devils. He used his angelic knowledge to arrange for his devil minions to construct a blade, Angelkiller.
The Order of Gorethar cut off Jalustriel's plans to assault the Heavens, defeated him and ultimately redeemed him. Jalustriel was permitted to re-enter the Heavens upon his death, but before he returned to the Cycle, the darkness of his soul was removed and cast out.
The darkness cleaved from Jalustriel found a home in an Angelkiller shard excavated from the Wastelands. This version of Jalustriel was what was sending out dreams to Lily.
When this was revealed, Lily began having dreams featuring Jalustriel himself:

<blockquote>Prophetess is sitting in a room, in the Inn of Elania. She’s sitting on the bed.
Standing in front of her is the handsomest man she has ever seen. He wears tight black leather pants, and black boots. He is shirtless. Beautiful, large wings sprout from his back, with feathers as black and as sleek as a raven’s. His hair is just as sleek and black, but his eyes are a crystalline blue, like a tropical ocean.
“When I was in the shards,” says the dark angel, “All I had was my mind. Do you know what it’s like, to not be able to see, or taste, or touch? All I could do was think… and dream.
“I sent out dreams. To my allies. To my enemies. Until Elysia Jones found me, and put me into that thing. After that, I had a body again, but could no longer send out my mind.”
Dark Jalustriel spreads his glossy black wings. “Until now. In this rod, I am bodiless again. But once more I can dream… and you are very receptive to dreams…
“I don’t just send dreams, love – I can read them, too. And you have very… interesting dreams. You wish to feed my former master to your current one. But I would like to offer you a counterproposal.”
The handsome fallen angel leans forward, until his face is mere inches away from Prophetess’. “Feed him to me.”
Dark Jalustriel leans in even closer. At first it seems as if he will kiss her, but he shifts at the last second and brings his perfectly-formed mouth close to her ear. “I require a body. Give Desteroth’s to me, and I will serve you. Don’t, and I will send out dreams, to my allies, and my enemies. And I will haunts yours… forever.”</blockquote>

This specific dream had a profound effect on Lily, the last straw that shattered her faith in the Dreamer. To learn that not only was the Dreamer not responsible for the prophetic dreams she was experiencing, but that the Dreamer could not protect her from the violation that these dreams had become was too much. It was at this point that Lily had to take stock of herself and her values apart from the Dreamer. but Jalustriel had one last dream to impart:

<blockquote>Lily first notices the feeling of weightlessness.
Next, she feels the wind, cold on her face, whipping her hair about her.
Next, a warmth, and a tightness, a feeling of being enclosed. No, not enclosed, embraced.
It takes a few more moments before Lily realizes that 1) this is a dream, and 2) in the dream she is flying. No, that is not accurate, someone else is flying, and she happens to be in his arms.
Dark Jalustriel’s muscles are not what one would call “rippling.” Nor is he as thin and wiry as most elves. But he is obviously strong, strong enough to carry Lily effortlessly as well as fly with her in midair. His black wings flap rhythmically as he glides through the sky, over a city that looks much like Mikona.
“Lily,” he says, his voice somehow audible despite the wind. “You’ve been busy. Forsaking one god, embracing a new one… I hope you haven’t forgotten about me, because I surely haven’t forgotten about you.
“We can help each other, Lily. I served Gorethar for ages. Then I served Asmodeus in the Hells. Now, I can serve you, and serve you well. All I seek is a body.”
Dark Jalustriel banks before reaching the sea, and loops around, towards what could be the Hills of Tumult. “I have been in sword shards, and golems, and now this rod. I have not felt anything, or anyone… in centuries. Except in these dreams. Lesser minds would go insane, but I hold out hope. Together, we can show your new god how worthy you are of his divine blessing.
“You can be rid of the Dreamer, but you cannot be rid of the dreams…”</blockquote>
Fortunately for Lily, Jalustriel was wrong, and after defeating him, this was the last time he violated the sanctity of her mind with his dreams.
According to Mikon, everyone has the right to choose their own path in life. Good is of course always preferable to evil in terms of living harmoniously. We all want to live in a safe and enjoyable world. However, Mikon is a warrior and he's used to fighting. Sometimes it is necessary to further an evil end in order to achieve stability and harmony in the long run. The good and the evil will often not see this. They merely look at what is happening at that moment. It is Mikon's job, and the job of his followers to find out how to turn a situation so it comes out for the best down the road.

Many different types of people and philosophies exist. Mikon is tolerant of them all. He understands that in order to have the light, you will need the darkness to compare it to. Order will not exist without chaos either. Most do not understand these points and only wish to have their own beliefs dominate. This is one thing Mikon will not allow. The dance is everything. There is no goal or destination. The journey is why we are here, and without those opposing sides going against each other the journey will cease.

After the nine warriors were changed to gods by the Eternal Spark, and the Negerai was defeated, the new gods all went back to their respective planes of appropriate philosophy.... except for Mikon. He remained behind on the Prime Material Plane. The Supreme charged him with the task of keeping all Gods out of the Prime Material Plane, so that the balance is not destroyed. This is his job to this day.

Mikon has major temples in Mikona and Visimontium, chapels in Blandenburg and Bachwood, and a shrine to the Equalizers of Mikon in Eastshore.

Mikon's Philosophy
* Many philosophies fixate on one particular thing. In general, the deep rooted spiritual beliefs of the good religions are outwardly focussed, and the deep rooted spiritual beliefs of the evil religions are inwardly focused. Neutral religions tend to not worry so much about where one is focussed, but instead they worry about HOW one focuses.

* Followers of Mikon see problems with these beliefs. If one is focussed so much on what's outside of them, their own selfish needs will never be attended to, and they may wind up being repressed. In the long run this may cause corruption and opression of those who do not follow the ways of "good". Evil has the opposite problem. They are so selfish and self-serving that they get a narrow view of things and eventually get eliminated by things they never saw coming. Not only that, but their inward focused nature often makes them incredibly bad at living in harmony with others!

* Law and chaos have the same basic problems. If someone is too disciplined, they become a slave to their practice and never realize that the practice itself is no longer deliberate, but instead has become a HABIT. What kind of control do you have over yourself when all you are doing is acting out a routine you call "discipline"? On the other hand, if someone is not disciplined at all, how will they be able to run their life effectively? We all need to live in the world. We all need to make our way in society from day to day. Such things take a little bit of discipline. Otherwise, we would never eat right, or wash our clothes, or pay our taxes on time.

* Mikon symbolizes the middle path. "Be disciplined, if you may. But let the present moment decide when discipline evaporates and gets replaced by freedom." This holy proverb of the followers of Mikon reiterates that everyone should have a balance of both in their life. Discipline is needed to do certain things. It is a useful tool. However, it is only a TOOL. There comes a time when the tool can be put down when it is not needed for a while. However, if you never use that tool, you are in for some problems in life.

* Goodness and evil, inwardness and outwardness, are also to be taken in moderation. People must learn about themselves in life. They must become attuned to what their wants and needs are. However, they must also be conscious of those around them and how their wants and needs will affect the innocent. Should you NEVER hurt the innocent if it means getting your wants and needs? Not necessarily. There's a time and a place for everything to be weighed. If certain innocents may be hurt by your ambition, you will need to figure how that action will turn out in the long run for everyone, both inside and outside of yourself.

* Good is of course always preferable to evil in terms of living harmoniously. We all want to live in a safe and enjoyable world. However, Mikon is a warrior and he's used to fighting. Sometimes it is necessary to further an evil end in order to achieve stability and harmony in the long run. The good and the evil will often not see this. "Strength can be found not by emulating men, but by understanding the essence of feminity. We are, after all, the ones strong enough to bear children, not our husbands." –Teachings of Yeraiah

In ancient times, Yeraiah was one of the first goddesses to appear on Avlis. Originally, she was a mortal human woman whom Mikon fell in love with early on in his godhood. Though they never had any offspring together, Mikon loved Yeraiah deeply and elevated her the status of a lesser goddess around the time she began to grow old. With her newfound immortal vigor, Yeraiah began reaching out to the female inhabitants of Avlis, particularly those located in Jechran. She taught them how to survive in the wilds independently from the help of males, and she showed them the secrets of fertility and the power of feminity.

To this day, her primary worshippers are in Jechran, which is a nation dominated by female humans and elves. The tribes that worship Yeraiah ask for her help in daily life, love, and child-rearing. Though Yeraiah is particularly venerated in the home, she is also well-known to those who are close to nature and the warrior ways. Ranger and druid maidens of the forests and jungles are known to pay homage to her.

Deities like Yeraiah who are capable of producing druidic priests and priestesses each have a unique perspective on nature and the wilderness. In Yeraiah's point of view, Nature is the nurturing parent of all living things, and life is a circle. Those who are nurtured must also nurture others in return, and the cycle of nurturing must continue. Less focus is paid towards the disasterous aspects of nature, though Yeraiah and her followers are well-aware that there can be negative aspects to nurturing, which can sometimes be turned around and used as a weapon to smother unsuspecting dependents.

Yeraiah serves a complementary role to the warrior goddess, Dre'Ana, emphasizing the balance of strength and femininity in women. She favors the women in the world who are self-sufficient and strong.

The teachings of Yeraiah state that the balance of the land is tied directly to the fertility of women and their role as lifegivers and caretakers. She taught the women of Jechran the art of sowing and ploughing so they could survive and is credited for many of the herbal secrets that supposedly increase the chances of female births. Her focus on women and her drive for balance come from the belief that men habitually ill-treat the earth yet she, like a patient cow, keeps on serving them and, thus, keeping them alive. Particularly in Jechran, this emphasis on Yeraiah as a provider of bounty and maternal caretaker makes her double as a healer of the sick, although this aspect of the goddess is not practiced elsewhere.

There is no official structure known as the Church of Yeraiah, although she does have a large temple that dominates part of the city center of Myleah. This building acts as a focal point of offerings where pilgrims from all around Jechran periodically assemble to pay homage. Otherwise, Yeraiah's worshippers tend toward the druidic or ranger callings, and devote themselves to maintaining the balance of the lush forests of Jechran and the world.

By the general populace, both in and out of Jechran, Yeraiah is seen as the gentle nurturing Mother of Avlis, whom Mikon took on as a wife because of her endearing qualities and stern but infinitely wise and calm demeanor. Even women who do not worship her as a primary deity will come to Yeraiah or her priestesses for help with childbirth or conception, as well as matters of motherhood that occur later in life.

There are temples to Yeraiah in Mikona and Visimontium.

His eldest daughter, Andria, took custody over Mortal Magic and directed the Orders of Andrinor's Trust to reform under the Academy of Mortal Magic.

It is said that Andria still hopes to see a reconciliation between herself and Angadar, and that this is why she refrained from making a killing blow when she could have done so.

Today, Stephanus' followers play a role as spies and guardians for the people of Grantir, while they conduct their own business behind the scenes. The worshippers of Stephanus have become quite adept at subtly obtaining their own agenda.

In 2 A.R. Stephanus conspired with the goddess Ethraeli and later Andria through his Immortal the drangonari wizard Vivienne to betray Angadar and Bobil. Stephanus' role in what came to be called "The Humbling of Angadar" was crucial, and may have been the originator of the idea to target Angadar and Bobil from the beginning. Through his betrayal he gained Angadar's mantle of Trickery.

Since then, his holy places have been shuttered to visitors. It is rumored that he has stopped answering prayers.

Elysia has a temple to Angadar, and Deglos has a shrine.

Good and evil are all relative. There really is no one undisputable "Good" with a capital "G". What's good for one is evil for another. Many of these so-called "good gods" preach that you must give aid to others so that they can go onward. The thought here is that giving aid is always a good thing. They are wrong. You know that bum on the street that everyone has encountered somewhere in their lives? The bum that asks you for money all the time? Giving him money is a "good" thing right? After all, you are helping the poor soul. Wrong. How do you know what that man will do with the money? What if he uses it for "evil" purposes, like hiring an assassin? What if he amasses enough money from begging to buy him an entire fiefdom, which he then uses to make war on the very people who donated the money? Who's to say he won't do that?

Valok is the father-god of Orcs. They follow his mindset.... that it's ok to get what you want, but don't make people hate you in the process. Having friends can be very helpful for getting what you want later. Now, if someone screws you over, by all means, take care of him or her. But not in public! Ideally, we can all get along with everyone else if only they just wouldn't get in our way. We don't want to destroy them. We just want to win as much as we can.

The followers of gods that are dubbed "good" or "neutral" all have one major problem. They do not give enough time to the development of the self. But what does this have to do with enlightenment, and how does one achieve it?

Enlightenment is within. If doing something for someone else will not help YOU, then you have no business doing it. Only self-discipline and devotion can help YOU. Focusing on things outside of yourself is a waste of time, because you are not responsible for anyone else but you. "Self maintenance is a monumental task." the holy saying goes. You have ENOUGH things to do with improving your own spiritual predicaments. What do you get by doing things for the spiritual predicaments of others? Absolutely nothing with the possible exception of maybe a "good" feeling.

The one who has disciplined their mind and calmed their inner senses will know Valok's Glory and Will. Glory is a better term to describe a "good" feeling that is directed inward. Valok hails glory. We should all strive for glory for it is Valok's way of condoning our actions and telling us that we are making improvements within ourselves.

So how should others be treated? Smile. If others are expecting a sense of "good", then give that to them. It is not wrong to give someone something if it benefits you in the end. It is ESPECIALLY not wrong to give someone something when it is an empty thing and you have lost nothing from giving it.

If there are people who do not approve of your self-improvement quest, then you should have understanding towards them. However, do not let them walk all over you. Get around them. Intrigue was the tool Valok gave us to help ourselves when others will not allow it. If you cannot go through something, go around it. Compose yourself and be disciplined. Know that Valok approves of what you do and it is not becoming of one of his followers to be obtuse. An obtuse mind is not a disciplined one.

Word has recently spread that Valok and Hurine had married and produced a daughter, Ethraeli. In 2 A.R. she conspired with Stephanus and later Andria, along with many mortal agents in a scheme that later became known as The Humbling of Angadar.

Ethraeli grew up in the shadow of her father's great ambitions, and resented the lesser status she perceived her mother Hurine to have. As she grew into adulthood, she learned of the great injustices surrounding the persecution of Orcish mages in the past, of their official blessing by Valok, of the determination of the church to hunt them down anyway, and Valok's ultimate inaction to correct the church in any way. Though Valok later put down this dissention officially, a great deal of damage had already been done to Brekonese society and Orcish culture writ large in the years between. Ethraeli saw all these things and believed her father corrupt, incompetent, and weak, and a poor husband to her mother. She set out to take his place and right his wrongs, and she decided to do this by a form of redress, by striking at the killer of Valok's lover Tianna, Angadar.

Ethraeli's plan was successful. Valok acknowledged that his daughter had shown great aptitude, and accepted that she was more than worthy of taking his place among the Nine Greater Gods of Avlis. Ethraeli now rules in her father's stead.

Valok has temples in Mikona, Crullath, and Verloghokbol; Brekon is the center of his worship on Avlis.
Ethraeli saw all these things and believed her father corrupt, incompetent, and weak, and a poor husband to her mother. She set out to take his place and right his wrongs, and she decided to do this by a form of redress, by striking at the killer of Valok's lover Tianna, Angadar.

Valok has temples in Mikona, Crullath, and Verloghokbol ; Brekon is the center of his worship on Avlis.

In 2273 O.D., during an event now known as "The Humbling of Angadar", Angadar was stripped of the mantles of Deceit, Trickery, and Arcane Knowledge by the gods Ethraeli, Stephanus, and Andria respectively, aided and abetted by a group of mortal agents. Since then, his holy places have been shuttered to visitors. It is rumored that he has stopped answering prayers.

Word has spread recently that Valok and Hurine have married and produced a daughter, Ethraeli. In 2273 O.D. she conspired with Stephanus and later Andria, along with many mortal agents in a scheme that later became known as The Humbling of Angadar.

Valok has temples in Mikona, Crullath, and Verloghokbol ; Brekon is the center of his worship on Avlis.

Andria is the sole steward of the magic drawn from the Mortal Magic Vortex. Whenever a wizard, bard, or sorcerer casts a spell, they are drawing energy from the Mortal Magic Vortex.

In 2273 O.D., Andria aided Ethraeli and Stephanus in their schemes against Angadar and Bobil, which came to fruition in the event now called "The Humbling of Angadar".

It is said that Andria still hopes to see a reconciliation between herself and Angadar, and that this is why she refrained from making a killing blow when she could have done so.

In the Year of the Red Star, 2271 A.O.D., Andrinor vanished. His eldest daughter, Andria, took custody over Mortal Magic and directed the Orders of Andrinor's Trust to reform under the Academy of Mortal Magic.
