The days are short and the nights are long, 
Fires in the hearth, burning late 
Plenty of night, to write a song 
Dreams of sunshine and warmth I await. 
 
Snow tickles my nose with its kiss 
Icicles sparkle like diamonds 
walking in the woods, we all admire this 
but by midwinter, I’m wishing for islands. 
 
I watch my breath freeze in little puffs 
I pile on cloaks, tights and gloves 
and brave the wind to walk in the snowy fluff 
it’s the change in seasons that I dream of. 
 
As Midwinter winds blow, fierce and strong 
Midsummer nights, for you I long. 

Spring will come in all its glory, 
birds chirping, trees budding, 
Ahh, that’s when I can tell a story 
The sun shining, and the bees buzzing. 
 
Watch the world come to life, 
Waking from its winter sleep, 
Trimming fresh flowers with my knife, 
The sights, the sounds, the scents, make me leap. 
 
Sun kisses the rock near the pond 
My favorite spot to sit and contemplate, 
as I watch the morning dawn 
sometimes before bed, because I was up too late. 
 
As Midwinter winds blow, fierce and strong 
Midsummer nights, for you I long. 
 
Next is summer, warm and true, 
Long days, short nights, wandering galore 
These are the days full of inspiration all anew 
Oh so much to do, nothing seems a chore. 
 
Swimming, dancing, floating down the river 
singing songs of light and love 
Summer seems to make us givers 
of ourselves, and reaping the gifts from above. 
 
Picnics at the pond, laughter ringing 
Midsummer finery at its briefest 
my heart is light, and my step is springing 
I love it most when it’s the warmest. 
 
As Midwinter winds blow, fierce and strong 
Midsummer nights, for you I long. 
 
Crisp wind blow in from the Port 
autumn arrives, the leaves are orange, red and golden 
the apples are best, and the cider by the quart 
days start to shorten and to the thought of winter we are beholden. 
 
As the nights start to linger and turn cold 
I try my best to enjoy, the last of the sun 
Mid-autumn look forward to costume choices bold 
Tricks and treats, and then harvest parties to cap off the fun. 
 
Winter comes cold and snowy 
Solstice to celebrate, you’re almost there 
Midwinter pleasures to pass the time…make it glowy 
Spring will come again, say a prayer. 
 
As Midwinter winds blow, fierce and strong
