Introduction

Lobsters have long bodies with muscular tails, and live in crevices or burrows on the sea floor. Three of their five pairs of legs have claws, including the first pair, which are usually much larger than the others. Lobsters are invertebrates with a hard protective exoskeleton. Lobsters molt to grow, which leaves them vulnerable. During the molting process, several species change color. Lobsters have 8 walking legs; the front three pairs bear claws, the first of which are larger than the others. Because lobsters live in murky environments at the bottom of the ocean, they mostly use their antennae as sensors.

Feeding Habits

Lobsters are omnivores and typically eat live prey such as fish, mollusks, other crustaceans, worms, and some plant life.

Disposition and Social Habits

Lobsters live up to an estimated 45 to 50 years in the wild, although determining age is difficult; Lobster longevity allows them to reach impressive sizes.

Habitat

Lobsters live in oceans, on rocky, sandy, or muddy bottoms from the shoreline to beyond the edge of the continental shelf. They generally live singly in crevices or in burrows under rocks.

Fylgia

Most compatible: Brown Bear

  • Powerful, if a little slow, the bear represents raw, physical strength. Lobsters share these traits. They aren't that bright, but what they lack in finesse they make up for in powerful attacks with their claws.

Other notes

Killing lobsters by placing them in fresh water and waiting for them to die is not needed and quite cruel. It is also a myth that you have to boil them alive. Kill them quickly, then prep and cook them.
