Instructions
* Log onto Le'Or T'Nanshi - or Underdark for a Sereg'wethrin - and go to the start area.

* If you wish to play one of the non-standard races, make a brand new character according to the table below.

* Make sure you pick the proper portrait and write the proper background with this character as if it was already converted to the custom race.

* Then talk to the Newbie Instructions NPC. After you go through the server rules, he will give you the option to start the character customizer. Good luck. Many thanks to Red Golem of Abyss404 for creating this system.

Make a _____ to play a ______:

<table border=1>
<tr><td>Dwarf</td> <td>Goblin, Kobold</td></tr>
<tr><td>Elf</td> <td>Avariel, Ghost Elf, Drangonari, Sereg'wethrin, Changeling</td></tr>
<tr><td>Gnome</td> <td>Goblin, Kobold, Stone Dwarf</td></tr>
<tr><td>Half-Elf</td> <td>Centaur, Half-Dryad, Half-Nymph, Lizardman, Wemic</td></tr>
<tr><td>Half-Orc</td> <td>Gnoll, Half-Ogre, Kobold, Lizardman, Orc</td></tr>
<tr><td>Halfling</td> <td>Goblin, Kobold</td></tr>
<tr><td>Human</td> <td>Adomkuro</td></tr></table>

There are a number of quirks and oddities with the custom race system:
* <font color=red>Something that MANY people forget, is to take into account the stat modifiers of a base race. If you use a Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Halfling or Half-Orc, you need to do some math when you assign stats at character creation.</font> EG when creating a Drangonari, which has completely different stat modifiers to the base elf, you have to remember that you will have 2 less dex and 2 more con than is shown when first creating the character.
* The races with AC are not Natural armor, due to a NWN limitation - they each gain +1 Deflection AC. (useless, really)
* ECL - Effective Character Level. Races with an ECL number listed start with that many levels in a basic class (humanoid or beast). These bonus levels make you start out more powerful than most characters, but are weaker than the same number of levels in a character class and also reduce multiclassing options.
* Several custom races have a penatly to intelligence. This means that the character creation screen gives you 4 skill points more than it should when making these races, due to racial modifiers being added by the golem after you log in. In theory a character will fail the legal character check run by the server if you spend more skill points at level 1 than a character is supposed to have, and so you should leave 4 levels unspent until you gain a level. There have been reports about this invalidating characters in the past, although test character made by me have not had this problem - ignore at your own risk.
* Even though Half-Ogres and Wemics are large creatures (size 4) you still can't wield a large weapon in the off hand. (has to do with nwn mechanics).
* Large and Small races (Wemics, Half-Ogres, Kobolds, Goblins) do not have the size modifiers visible ont he feats list as with halflings and gnomes, but they DO apply. Small creatures have bonus AC and low synergy with knockdown, large creatures have penalties to AC and high synergy with knockdown.
* Don't let a stat drop below 6, or autobic thinks you're cheating. (and will rename your character "stupid cheater", to boot)
*Drangonari and Ghost Elves cannot become Arcane Archers. This goes for all other copap Elf subraces (Drow, Sun Elves etc) excepting Avariel who may become Arcane Archers.
* Centaur, Orc, Lizardman, Gnoll, Half-Ogre, Goblin, and Kobold do not use character models. This means that your character will always look the same, no matter what armor or clothing you put on. You will still get the affects of the things you are wearing. You just won't see them show up on your body on the screen. There is a workaround for some custom races, this is detailed in this article on the Avlis forum
* Details of changing Half-Ogres, and other custom races, to dynamic models can be found in this article on the Avlis forum

Overview
When ogres breed with humans, the result is the bitter hybrid race of half-ogres. Caught between a race disposed towards evil that sees them as weakened and diluted freaks, and a more tolerant race that fears them for their ancestry, these creatures spend much of their lives being torn apart by conflicting standards. More often than not, they are born of violence and wind up continuing the chain of negativity in which they were created.

Personality
Half-ogres have difficulty controlling their tempers and are prone to violent outbursts of varying magnitude. For the most part, the rest of their personality is determined by the race that raised them. In ogre societies, they are demeaned and degraded for their weakness and impure heritage, and this often drives them to becoming fearful and troublesome. By contrast, in human societies they are regarded as unintelligent brutes who are unable to control their horrible tempers, and this can sometimes give them a thuggish personality akin to a bully.

Physical Description
Half-ogres grow to be between 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 feet tall. Their skin color is usually along the normal human ranges, but with a yellowish and slightly jaundiced-looking tinge to it. Eye and hair color also range along the full human range.

If living among ogres, they will often pick up the same skin conditions and boils that are seen in full-blooded specimens, but when living among humans they practice the same general hygiene of that race and cases of skin problems are limited. Clothing and dress are also according to the society that raised them.

Relations
Because of the nature of their ogre lineage, most races assume that half-ogres are evil and dangerous creatures, just as full-blooded ogres are. In fact, most races see little difference between half-ogres and ogres, so depending on their opinions of evil, different races will receive them accordingly. Full ogres generally degrade and torment half-breeds because of their weaker stature and impure blood, while full humans will fear them and believe them to be dangerous.

Alignment
Half-ogres generally take on the alignment of the society that raised them, if they do not reject that part of their heritage. Those who reject societies will often take on opposite characteristics from what they are rejecting. For example, the chaotic ogre race can produce a lawful half-ogre if it decides that the disorderly anarchy of ogre society is not desirable. Goodness is not as common as neutrality and evil, however, because their ogre blood tends to make them slightly greedy and selfish.

Half-Ogre Lands
Generally, half-ogres are found wherever humans and ogres are. They have no lands of their own, but are found as parts of other societies. Many individuals can be found in the Seven Cities where a multitude of other races tend to mix with one another in a reasonably tolerable fashion.

Religion
Half-ogres who embrace their ogre heritage are usually followers of Maleki, the creator of the goblinoid and giant-kin races. Those who are raised by humans or reject their ogre ways can worship any number of other deities based on philosophy or need. When their inner turmoil is too much to bear, some half-ogres will worship no deity at all.

Language
A half-ogre learns the language of the raise that reared it. If it was brought up by humans, this language is usually common. More languages can be picked up along the way if it encounters other races.

Names
Half-ogres receive names from the race that raised them. If they grew up in an ogre society, they often take on descriptive names that are demeaning and degrading. Human societies also tend to give them nicknames that describe their oafish characteristics.

Adventurers
Inner conflict and turmoil easily drives half-ogres to wander the face of Avlis in search of acceptance, or just to get away. Depression, greed, and anger can make them reckless and willing to undertake dangerous missions with little hesitation.

Far to the north of Kuras lies a region of coastal mountains. A place of deep ravines with ice cold streams which roar through the rocks and plunge over cliffs into the sea. The wild creatures that live there are fierce yet plentiful - good hunting ground for wemics.

It was in these mountains that Darra'kish, daughter of the Pride Mother, clashed with three dire tigers who toppled her and sent her crashing to the floor of the ravine. Her injuries were so great that she could never hunt again, could rarely leave the Den in fact. Her mate, Barrra'ti, made her a permanent den in a nearby settlement, where she learned to craft beautiful items for trade.

Into this unusual wemic home, Kish'ti was born. She knew only her mother's gentle and creative influence throughout her infancy. But, when Kish'ti reached hunting age, her Grandmother arrived at the Den and presented her with leather armour and a warhammer which was difficult for her even to lift. Kish'ti was trained in the art of hunting under the watchful eye of her grandmother, the Pride Mother.

Kish'ti respected her grandmother as a leader but grew to resent her interference in the family. During her young adulthood the villagers always knew when Grandmother was visiting because Kish'ti could be seen sitting beside the river on the outskirts of the settlement, her cheeks pink from arguing and her hands clenched in furious fists. But the worst arguments were to come when Kish'ti reached mating age. Grandmother's schemeing and excitement reached fever pitch - and Kish'ti became more and more uncomfortable as young male wemics were introduced to her and then projected as suitable mates. Some of the young males were, no doubt, suitable mates but if they came with Grandmother's endorsement, they were doomed to failure.

After some months of continual introductions and arguments, Darra'kish took her daughter to one side and herself suggested that Kish'ti travel south. The idea of adventure and new places, but especially of escaping Grandmother's plans, enchanted Kish'ti and she set about packing the necessary equipment and gold. For the first day of her journey she was escorted by the Pride, walking in the front and enjoying constant advice and recommendations from the Pride Mother!

The next morning Kish'ti woke to a beautiful sunrise, bade farewell to her northern Pride and followed the road that would lead to her new life in the south.

For example, the chaotic ogre race can produce a lawful half-ogre if it decides that the disorderly anarchy of ogre society is not desireable.

Depression, greed, and anger can make them wreckless and willing to undertake dangerous missions with little hesitation.
The link above, with some searching, can provide .exe (installers) and .zip versions of the CEP too.
** Do not install CEP 1.68. CoPaP does not use it as an 1.68 fix is already included in the main CoPaP hak. If you have already installed it you will need to reverse back to version 1.53 as it will otherwise create issues with CEP related content.
And there are some races that do not exist in D&D at all. All of these races have unique developments in accordance with the history and culture of Avlis.

Description:
Power through superior might has always been the way of Aarilax. Collect as much as you can for yourself, and beat everyone else to it (literally), and you will live a long time. Gain what you desire, for all you really have is desire itself. The annihilators arose out of a society based on these beliefs. The lizardmen of Drotid rule by might alone. Those who can impose their will get to be in charge. Everyone else is a slave. It is the way of Aarilax. Gaining troops to impose their will became a prime concern of the voivods of Drotid long ago. In order to gain a steady group of loyal and powerful troops, the clerics of Aarilax were forced to beseach their god for an answer. In return, Aarilax granted them the annihilators. These warriors became the muscle behind the voivods. Whether it is by frontal assault, or underhanded assassination, the annihilators are up for the task. Each individual holy warrior of Aarilax serves because he must. There is no other way. Aarilax keeps him alive so that he is not eaten or killed by one above him. In return, he owes Aarilax his obedience. This is how annihilators operate.

Annihilators will only serve those who are more powerful than they are, and even then, they will only do it when threatened. When they are in the fortunate position of BEING the one doing the threatening, they are cold-hearted and selfish, existing only to gain more for themselves. An annihilator who gains too much power can be an awful menace. A weak annihilator can often be cowed into doing anything its master desires.

The only organization annihilators know is that of strength. Whenever groups of annihilators exist together, they follow the strongest one, until he or she is murdered or otherwise disposed of. Then the next will take their place. When employed by nonannihilators, these warriors will do what they are told, until their leader slips up and finds a dagger in their back. Annihilators are always biding their time and calculating.

Most of the time, they employ spears and long weapons, which are reminiscent of their tribal lizardman roots. They also wear medium or light armor most of the time, though they are able to deck themsevles out heavily when needed.
Visimontium and its Surroundings
The Crescetoria Valley and the Surrounding Mountains
Visimontium, the holy city of Andrinor, is built in the Crescetoria valley of Northern Deglos, around the Lake Crescetoria, and guarded by four mighty mountain ranges.

To the south is Mount Teratera, where the Causeway from Deglos to Galdos branches. Outside of the well travelled path, Teratera offers a barren and difficult to cross terrain.

To the east lay the slopes of Mount Bolinar. The southern side includes a low plateau, often used for festivals and open air mage tournaments. While relatively low in comparison to her sisters, Mount Bolinar bears a flaming heart. Hot springs streak her feet like veins, and her scorching breath vapours through the crags marring her shoulders.

To the west the horizon is occupied by the mountain most rich in ore veins in the vicinity - Mount Geritri. Vast caverns and underlakes stretch deep its surface. Geritri also is famous for the secluded high valey of the Geritri Forest. The forest is protected by the city law as a nature reserve. North of the mountain is the deep Coldshadow Lake, the beauty of which draws one and all.

To the north is the mountain believed to be the highest in Avlis, Crescetoria, which holds the tower of the city founder - Melonius Mennallin. However, the higher parts of the mountain imprisoned in ice and snow all the year round also are a home for the kin of Maleki: goblins, bugbears and frost giants. A grand temple to the god of fury, Ra-Ghul, rises as well in the shadow of Mount Crest.

The heart of the valley - the namesake Crescetoria Lake mirroring the proud mountain - holds one large island which in turn shelters the Lifestone invigourating the area. A smaller island is connected through a bridge to the southern shore. On the southern shore also is the fabulous Periwinkle Fireworks and Foghorn Factory, on both sides of it - the AAAA local branch, and the city hospital. Rocky wastes stretch east and west of the north shore around the Crescetoria mountain feet. Like the unfriendly mountain itself, they only draw the most eager and brave miners. This applies with even greater power to the eastern wastes which include a dangerous area of wild magic.

----

The Districts of Visimontium
Although some of the Visimontium inns and taverns are mentioned below, the complete list of them can be found on a separate page.

The Garrison District
The Causeway path through Teratera leads up to the Mountain Gates and into the well fortified Garrison District of Visimontium. This is where the headquarters of the city guard - the Visimontium Sentinels - are situated, and within the same building, the city jail. The Visimontium City Council building is here as well, together with the office of the city architect Jenii Kim under its roof. An inn and a small marketplace meet the worn travellers. The tunnel east leads to the District of the Trust, and the tunnel west - to the Residential Districts.

The Underground Settlement
The Underground Settlement is the oldest part of the city, now accessible through the Garrison Distcit. It initially sheltered the Visimontium builders - most of them gnomes and dwarves, then was used to accomodate the first wave of human settlers. At present, the Underground settlement holds the memorial graveyard of the Gnomish workers to have fallen during the blasting works, the Sentinels' Arena and a temple to Clangeddin Silverbeard.

The Crescetoria Valley Marketplace
Craftsmen of all trades offer their goods here in a long row of shops facing the Temple of Hurine. The valley marketplace is a major meeting point for locals, drawn not only by the necessity of supply and demand but also by the large wooden table outside the Plough and Scythe Inn, under the great oak tree. Secluded in the eastern end of the area is the town cemetery.

The Residential Districts
Stretching from the Garrison District along the northern slopes of Mount Geritri to the eastern shore of Lake Coldshadow, the Residential Districts are a well presentable face of the city. They are divided into southern, central and northern areas, bond together by the broad Ailpera Lane. The Residential Districts except for private residences include the workshops of great artizans. Such are the "Precious Objects" run by the jewelers Wulfgar and Tzaramendl, the "Frimungun Clothing Empire", and indeed the "Heffernven Toy Shop"!

The Southern Residential District where the Western Tunnel from the Garrison District opens is quiet and secluded, with few private residences nestled around the Lohenson Court.

Through the Central Residential District one can take the path to the Mount Geritri Mines. The famous "Hideaway Cafe" is here for those who shun the mining pick, not far from the First City Real Estates office. The centre of the Residential Districts is also dignified by the grove devoted to Mary Briggs, druidess of O'Ma.

The Northern Residential District often is refered to as "The Cottages", though these rented homes take but a portion of its territory. The Northern Residential District is where the Ailpera Lane ends, at the elevation offering a glorious view to the Coldshadow Lake. Here is the home of the Visimontium city council speaker, commander of the Army of Visimontium and a great benefactor to the city Aerill Ailpera, Archmage to the Blue Order of the Sky. The entrance hall of her residence opened to the public now hosts the "Mennallin Shop".

The District of the Trust
The District of the Trust is indeed occupied by the nine towers of the Nine Orders of Andrinor's Trust, and the smaller but no less imposing Tower of the Trust. A centrepoint of the area however admittedly is the Nine Towers Brewery and Tavern. Those drawn by the waterfalls crossing the east side may soon find the secluded Grove of O'Ma. Following the Promenade boulevard north, one reaches the quiet, picturesque Willow Lake.

The Academy District
The most busy district of Visimontium is the Academy District. In itself it is a broad square, lined by houses at its far northern and southern ends, and occupied by a number of buildings of importance. Here are the local branch of the Academy of Mortal Magic and the Alchemy research department, the Great Library of Visimontium, the Academy of Bardic Arts feat. Reverdie, the open air Observatory, and last but not least the Department of Conflagration. When free of work, the populace can often be found around "Jade's Coffee House", "Truely Sweets" - a legacy of Lord Derrington's chocolate tradition, or indeed the Tipsy Wizard Inn. Unsuprisingly, here also is the workshop of an industrious Ganoom offering alchemical dyes.

The Temple District
Above the square of the Academy District is the Temple District, built around a small hill atop which is the High Temple of Andrinor. The area also offers roof for the faithful of Cha'reth, Dagath, Dru'El, Fegall, Gorethar, Mikon, and Mishlekh. Outside the Eastern Gates, at the lower slopes of Mount Bolinar, overlooking the Thousand Springs stands a shrine to Yeraiah.

The Farmlands
As the city forms a half-circle on the southern end of lake Crescetoria, the Farmlands occupy the fruitful land in-between the lake shore and the city walls. Both the west and east farmlands boast with lush apple gardens. At the eastern farms opens a grand cave system; its higher reaches are used to make premium quality cheese. In the western farmlands the local school is built, as a part of a dream coming true: the dream of the city founder Melonnius Menallin to provide education for the children of Avlis. The school has been built thanks to Dame Moira Celyn Windspar from Mikon's Council of Balance, who also is the architect of the Academy of Bardic Arts.

The Visimontium City Council
The city of Visimontium is represented by counselors to decide on laws and edicts.
At present these are:

* The Andrinor's Trust Representative - Rorln Frizzlegomp of the Blue Order of the Sky<br>
<br>

The Visimontium Sentinels
The Visimontium Sentinels are the guards of the City of Andrinor, initially hand-picked by the city founder Melonius Mennallin himself. The Sentinels protect the city and its population and deal with the day to day law enforcement issues in order to keep the city running as normally as possible. They answer to the decisions and orders of the City Council of Visimontium.

Recent History of Visimontium
Founding of the City (Apprx. 2120)
Two things the god of mortal magic Andrinor bestowed on his mostly devoted follower, the then-Archmagus of the Ivory Order of the Sun Melonius Mennallin. One was the establishment and moderation of the High Mage Council, the other - the building of a holy city in Andrinor's honour which also was destined to be a home to the magi of Andrinor's Trust.

The works on the holy city of Andrinor began in early 2120s, after Melonius Mennallin bought off the valley sheltered in-betwen four mountain ranges in Northern Deglos. Most of the expenses were covered out of Mennallin's personal funds, as well as by numerous donations. The greatest lot of the donations were gathered during the celebration of the opening of the Merchants Rest Inn in Elysia, mutual property of Melonius Mennallin himself and the famous tradesman Zacharia Featherfingers.

Much more expenses came in the form of life losses. A great lot of gnome quarrimen, stonesmiths and engineers were lost during the blasting works. Their bodies are now laid in a memorial graveyard in the Underground settlement. The blasting and building works were supported and supervised by a group of people hired by Melonius himself, known as "Leo (Leopold)'s Mercenary Group". For clarity, I apply a popular statement by Leopold Pfefehur on the group's name: "Much as I like having a group of folk named after me, it was never my intention. If anything we're Melonius's Mercs! It's just the way it happened that my name got used for the group, and it sort of stuck!"

Migration to Visimontium (2150)
The city of Visimontium is not merely the city of mages. It is a home more than 100,000 migrants from post-war M'Chek, who were given a chance to begin a new life thousands of miles away from their homeland. This was possible after Melonius Menallin's proposal to the M'Chekian government, which was quickly accepted. A great lot of the work on organising the migration and colonization of the valley has been done by the founding Sentinel members Fealith Anifail, Aerill Ailpera, Jenii Kim, Leopold Pfefefhur and many members of Leopold's Mercenary Group a lot of which remained in Visimontium as Sentinels. Moving such a great lot of people, be it in groups, took the effort of many organisations - from religious orders to mage orders, from the national guard of M'Chek, T'Nanshi and Deglos to the AAAA and AKN. The migration met much impediments in the form of Sereg'Wethrin attacks, diseases, and the unforgiving nature of the depths of Deglos. Tens of thousands were lost on the way. On the 20th of November 2150 the last wave of migrants reached Visimontium. The people held the torches high in the harsh winter night, and the hopes were high ...

----

The First Decade
Finishing of the building works (2150-2156)
By the time the migrants from M'Chek arrived in Visimontium, the eastern wing of the city (the districts of the Trust, the Academy and Temple districts) were still in process of building. The city was for the most consisted of underground settlements, and houses made of wood and stone. In 2153, the city finally woke up in silence - the blasting and hammering of the gnomes in the east side of the city had ceised, it had finally been finished. In time, the remaining portion of Visimontium was reworked to hold proud buildings of stone, paved streets, strong walls. In the end of 2156, this work was completed.

Proclamation of Geritri Forest as a nature reserve (2152)
The Geritri Forest, home for many rare animals and plantlife, as well as treant wardiens, drew druids seeking to tend to the forest and adventurers seeking to challenge its inhabitants alike. As a result, the druids started treating with hostility anyone who would venture in the forest. The name of the druidess Naer'maril still is remembered as one violent defender of the Geritri forest, as well as the local priestess of Gorethar, Belevren Graniteanvil, who sought for a legal compromise on the statute of the forest.

A copy of the public announcement of the Visimontium City Council:

Geritri Forest is considered a nature reserve. Hunting animals or treants there is forbidden. It is each visitor's responsibility to make sure they do not disturb the animals living there. Capture for profit or killing of animals will result in a fine or worse punishment depending on how severe is the action. Construction of buildings or housing will not be allowed in Geritri Forest. - Aerill Ailpera, Speaker of the Visimontium City Council

Heatwave reaches Visimontium (2152-2156)
The heat to sweep through Southern Avlis in the early 2150s did not miss out Visimontium. Four years in a row, it lingered over the city, causing dangerous steam elementals to rise from the great valley lakes and numerous streams.

An year of mysteries (2155)
Visimontium is a city of magic, and this alone has many effects in the everyday life. Flowers would sprout out of a seed within minutes, or scarecrows will start walking. The latter happened in the autumn Harvest Festival in 2155 when the scarecrows did not limit themselves to simply walking around but also randomly attacked locals. Another memorable occassion of the same year was the griveous end of the wedding anniversary of Dame Grace Dane-Unuldur and Morran Unuldur, who recieved a small ship as a gift from their friend Ayren Milen. As the couple ventured to the ever-shrouded by mists centre of the lake Crescetoria, a storm rose which shattered the lovely "Trenium" vessel to pieces. The couple barely survived, and the story lived on, retold by the resident bard of the Plough and Scythe Inn and Tavern - Trinash Vellah.

Drangonari Siege (2155 - 2158)
* The beginning

The first sightings of hostile Drangonari were in the spring of 2154. Groups of one or two randomly attacked the city, and little the Visimontium residents knew these were the first drops of a forthcoming flood.

The Drangonari arrived in greater numbers, attacking the city in groups of near half a thousand at a time. Their camps were believed to be hidden in the surrounding mountains. However, these camps also were concealed by psionists and for a long time all the city could do was defend themselves when attacked. The Grantir government denied any relation to the situation.

* Behind the scenes

In time the Trust of Andrinor realized there was serious threat on the side of Angadar himself, and not only his creations, the Drangonari elves. This was not surprising, considering that Angadar looked onto Andrinor as onto a rival, after Andrinor outtricked him to became the god of mortal magic on Avlis. The investigation and counteraction on the side of the Trust of Andrinor against the faithful of Angadar organised in the so-called Web of Angadar throughout Southern Avlis could perhaps fill a separate tome. Such may someday be written, should either side choose to reveal what now is considered confidential information. During the conflict, one of the moves of Angadar was limiting the ability of Andrinor's mages to scribe spells onto useable scrolls. In response, Andrinor willed that all spells casted by his magi in his city - Visimontium - would be cast as empowered. (These restrictions are unexistant at present).

* Troublesome years

The city of Visimontium suffered much, giving many victims. The Drangonari were not the only attackers. The frost giants and bugbears living on the slopes of Mount Crest made use of the exhausted city defenses and organised raids down the valley. Still, most of the damage came on the side of the Drangonari. The eastern outskirts of the city (the Eastern Wastes) still are a wild magic zone as a result of their purposed rituals. From 2156 till the end of the struggle, the Ashen Order of the Stars gave a hand to the Visimontium Sentinels in the city defences. In 2157, after the reformation of the Gold Order of the Sand, a large group of orc magi also came to the defence. Many magi of other Orders of the Trust able and willing to assist soon joined in.

* First great victory

In December 2156 the then-Senior Mage of Visimontium for the Ashen Order of the Stars, Ialath Fentellon, invited to aid Arania Moonshadow Alastaire-Alaster, Keeper of FEAT and director of the Visimontium Academy of Bardic Arts feat. Reverdie. The psionicist abilities of Arania revealed a major Drangonari camp to be hidden in the sewers near the lake Coldshadow, under the Northern Residential district. A large group of Sentinels, Ashen and Blue Mages, and the then-Archmage of the Ebony Order of the Moon Micah Ormane herself swept down to destroy the Drangonari base. The sewers were much damaged in the battle to ensue, and that segment had to be entirely reconstructed.

* The last battle and negotiations with Grantir

After the insisting of the Visimontium City Council and the Trust of Andrinor, in June 2158 a group of representatives of the Grantir authorities led by Ambassador Pluvier Preaan arrived in Visimontium. The day before their arrival was probably the darkest in the history of the city of Andrinor. The Drangonari made a final onslaught, assisted by members of the Web of Angadar. In this attack, the city was literally ruined. In turn, the attackers Drangonari were nearly exterminated by the joint effort of the Sentinels and the numerous Trust magi present in Visimontium for the arrival of the Grantir delegation - all of these assisted by a handful of Healers of Cha'reth. Bridges were burning, houses were brought down, the city walls of the Western Gate were completely destroyed.

A few excerpts from the meeting with the Grantir Delegation should with certainty be recorded for the public. One was the revelation that a number of faithful of Andrinor and Angadar had dreams in which both gods proclaimed peace with each other. The Drangonari to have attacked Visimontium appeared to have been tricked into doing so by agents of the Grantir arch-enemy, the Drotid. After this was clarified, the present in the meeting agreed that peace was needed not only in-between the gods, but also in-between their followers. Regardless, a number of members of the Angadarian Web were indeed announced wanted for crimes against Visimontium.

The Visimontium Lifestone uncovered (2159)
Excerpt from a public announcement by Tralil Breck, second Archmage to the Ivory Order of the Light past the Reformation: "Long ago, a druid sorceress by the name of Sanaata lived in the forests of T'Nanshi. There she was a friend of many of the forest creatures, and well known to those whose heart walked with Dru'El. After a time, she ventured North. Very little is known of how she lived out her days in the North, except that she was a mystic and could forsee the future. In her time, I believe she tended the Lifestone, deep below lake Crescetoria. However, at some point the stone was entombed and its force diverted. Sanaata in her wisdom foresaw a day when the stone would be re-envigorated, and used her druidic and arcane tallent to guide and aid those in the future who would seek the Stone's revival..." Through dreams and visions, Sanaata guided a group of mages and druids of present to uncover the Lifestone and put it back into activity. This brought the much needed flow of vital energy to the valley which at the time was exhausted after the Drangonari siege. Peculiar fact is that the famous sorceress of the Blue Order of the Sky Miette Hartley bears much of the memories of Sanaata, and rumour goes she is the reborn Sanaata herself.

----
The Second Decade
Reconstruction (2160-2166)
The slow reconstruction of Visimontium after the Drangonari siege began in 2160. Many homeless people were in need of clothing and food, except for a roof above their head. A lot of cloth was donated by the Warrior Maidens of Dre'Ana and the faithful of Dra'Nar, the church of Visimontium organised opened kitchen for the poor and the Healers of Cha'reth were often seen in town. The city also required wood matherial. A great lot of it arrived from the AAAA, the ACE and the AKN. While the building works finished for three summers, the garden holding rare plants in the south-western farms took much longer to revive. The resident Healer of Cha'reth and member of ANRA Rika Vandor and the then-Archmage of the Green Order of the Forest Namlig Sirhc took great effort to replant the garden.

Rise of the Trolls of Kazan (2160 - 2164)
Excerpt from public announcement by General-Marshall Fealith Anifail of the Visimontium Sentinels: "For a long time, this city has suffered from the attentions of the foul creature known as Kazan. This Troll, was a shaman of enormous power, with a particular gift for controlling the beings of the elemental planes. He was able to unite many of the troll clans from the mountains under his leadership. Together they raided the lands of Visimontium and took the lives of too many of our citizens and the Sentinels who protected them. Some died under the claws of trolls, while others were sacrificed in unspeakable rituals to further Kazan's powers. Kazan himself was not to be seen in the fighting, which he left to his minions." The Ashen Order of the Stars and the Visimontium Sentinels, assisted by the resident Healer Rika Vandor, finally manage to deal with Kazan, after the Ashen Archmage Robert Wallace and the Ashen Senior Mage of Visimontium Ialath Fentellon opened a portal and lured him out of the demiplane he was hiding in. While attacks from goblins, trolls and giantkin are not uncommon for Visimontium, none have been so well organised. Kazan's powers also caused the eruption of Mount Crest in 2162. What could cause such an extraordinary afflux of power to such a creature? The answer was to be found in the years to follow.

Curse lifted from the treants of the Gertitri Forest (2163)
A curse long lingered at the depths of the Geritri Forest, causing the ancient treants to attack any creature to approach them on sight. The curse was lifted thanks to the efforts of the followers of Dru'El, honourably assisted by Fergus Goodmane, then-Archmagus of the White Order of the Light.

Reign of the Goblin King Ip (2166 - 2170)
In the spring of 2166, during an outing of the Fauna and Flora Group led by the Ashen Archmagus Robert Wallace, accompanied by a few Sentinels, the Coldshadow Ridge was found to be occupied by snow goblins fighting each other. It came known that the group was witnessing internal conflict, and a change of the goblin king Ep with the goblin king Ip. The new goblin king appeared reasonable at first, concerned mainly with the well-being of his people into the caverns of the Mountain Crescetoria. It was not long however before break-ins started being reported in Visimontium, and all of these were in time ascribed to the snow goblins. Fear overtook the common people of Visimontium. A messenger of Ip soon appeared, announcing that the goblin king was annexing the city. A run-away goblin delivered the horrifying truth of what was going on to the Sentinels: the goblin king Ip had been as if possessed by a great power, and lost his mind. Ip could teleport his minions at will, and kill them at will from a distance.

In 2168, the Sentinels were forced to magically ward the City Guard Barracks from such intrusions, and turn the defence to fullscale offence. The goblins had made golems similar to those patrolling Visimontium as a part of the city guard. To set these golems to motion, they used their living comrades, maddening them in the process. Still the Visimontium resistance battled the goblins to the bottom of their caverns, only to meet an impenetratable wall of ice. Per happenstance, it was blocking the way to the Firefly Valley, where the Temple of Ra-Ghul stood. Thus the goblins were no longer problem of the city of Andrinor alone, but also of the Fury of Ra-Ghul.

Imprisonment of the ancient evil behind Kazan and Ip (2170)
It was the Sentinels' General-Marshall, Fealith Anifail, that had the insight there had to be a greater force behind beings like the troll Kazan and the goblin Ip. His guess was confirmed, after he was advised to turn to the Geritri treants for their wisdom and they in turn called forth an ancient being. It presented itself in the form of a dragon, by the name Kalseru. He explained that Kazan and Ip were merely puppets for an old enemy of his. Kalseru inquired the city defenders to gather matherials, amongst them Ip's heart, for the purpose of a ritual to expell his old enemy. This was done after the joined effort of a group of the Visimontium Sentinels, the Fury of Ra-Ghul, the Ashen Order of the Stars, the great magus Vana of the Blue Order of the Sky and others.

On the top of Mountain Crescetoria, Kalseru built a prison for his old enemy, where he could be captured on the prime matherial plane and destroyed. The same group witnessed the summoning of the ancient evil from the elemental plane of fire, and destroyed it, its essence remaining imprisoned on the mountain peak. Alas, as future events would show, it were not for long.

Trials against the Web of Angadar (2166-2168)
A few members of the Web of Angadar involved in the Drangonari siege appeared before justice during this period. Kisri Aedia, who at the time had renounced Angadar, was found guilty of murder and treason and sentenced to labour work. A few years later Krator Blackfist, who at the time had also left Angadar, was found guilty of the same, and sentenced to half a million gold fine and labour work. Fraudoc Loclac whose trial was conducted at the same time was found to be insane, unable to answer for his actions and neutralized by turning into a rodent. (This information is based on official announcements of the City Council of Visimontium).

Hospital built in Visimontium (2170)
After the initiative of Jand de la Fleur and his wife Navarra Dyaniera de la Fleur, both esteemed magi of the Ashen Order of the Stars, the Healers of Cha'reth were sponsored to build a hospital at the southern Crescetoria lake shore. The building itself took many years, but it was finally finished in September 2170, as if to close the chapter of another troublesome decade in Visimontium with a touch of peace.

Afterword
"Eternity is a word humans use." - Kalseru

As the author of this Guide, I have aimed for accuracy and neutrality. Like any mortal being, I am prone to omissions and mistakes and I would like to believe that I have made as few as possible. I arrived in Visimontium after the Migration as resident magus of the Ashen Order of the Stars and remained in the city ever since, even though for a time I parted ways with Andrinor's Trust. After I defended Visimontium as my home all these years, remaining unbiased was perhaps the hardest task about writing this book. I intend to add more pages as time goes by.

A Class is the profession or vocation of your character. It determines what he or she is able to do: combat training, magical ability, skills, and more. In selecting what class is right for your character, keep in mind what base strengths you want him or her to have.

Class is one of the basic Player Character types: barbarian, bard, cleric, druid, fighter, monk, paladin, ranger, rogue, sorcerer, wizard, or from the Epic levels. Class defines a character's predominant talents and general function within an adventuring party. It may also refer to an NPCs class or a prestige class.

<br>

Multiclassing
PCs begin with one base class but, as they gain experience, may choose to take a second or third class (base or prestige) -- which can result in a multiclass penalty if certain requirements aren't fulfilled. Characters may have a maximum of three classes.

Epic
An Epic Class is different from standard class in that the game NWN defines the epic label as belonging to those character classes that have exceeded the normal 20 levels of D&D experience. Epic applies to those characters who have progressed beyond the initial 20 levels. Although the Epic levels continue to use the same experience point advancement formula, they may obtain superior skills known as Epic skill, superior feats known as Epic Feats, and other powers differently. When a PC has reached the epic levels, it became clear to the D&D game designers that the rules needed to change to balance the game dynamics.

Prestige Classes
A prestige class is a variation on the Player Character types (see class) that may only be chosen after meeting certain requirements and may not be chosen at first level.

Overview
Long ago, the elven nation of T'Nanshi created a secret elite black ops fighting force to fight against the orcs in the Great War. Much later, in the not too recent past, the name for this race became synonymous with the drangonari word for "assassin", i.e. sereg'wethrin. The different specializations within this force were also given drangonari designations during this time period.

Unfortunately, before they were deployed, the Great War ended with the explosive destruction of all orc mages. Without a purpose, the sereg'wethrin force was relegated to training and minor operations with limited scope.

Initially, the sereg'wethrin were normal elven soldiers. The soldiers participated in voluntary magical conditioning that enhanced their abilities. This low to mid level conditioning proved to be effective in allowing the sereg'wethrin force to gain an edge in tactical combat missions. As time passed, the sereg'wethrin began to experiment with increased levels and different forms of magical enhancement. Their experimentation proved to be incredibly fruitful, however, the effects of this conditioning began to make genetic changes within their bodies. A few of the more significant changes are:

* Camouflage: The sereg'wethrin skin and hair is permanently dark... almost black.
* Stealth: They received enhanced hiding and stealth abilities.
* Speed: Sereg'wethrin have an un-natural quickness.

A price for this experimentation and enhancement was also paid. The mind of a sereg'wethrin is extremely chaotic. In fact, most of them only have a loose grasp on sanity. This can be useful in combat, but makes them extremely volatile in daily situations.

Part of their conditioning has always been military obedience to the chain of command. This may seem to fly against their chaotic nature, but it is an artificially and magically-induced behavioral trait. Without this conditioning, the sereg'wethrin would cease to be an organized military force.

Personality
Most sereg'wethrin have a volatile demeanor. They have little patience and explode early on in a confrontation. Loyalty to their own is one of the few virtues they maintain as a culture. Because of their instability, sereg'wethrin rarely form meaningful relationships outside of their military units, and this fact causes them no personal hardship at all because their entire lives are devoted to army affairs.

More recent iterations of these conditioned soldiers were given anti-human conditioning, as part of the conflict between the elven nation of T'Nanshi and the human nation of M'Chek. The anti-human conditioning was brutally effective. Sereg'wethrin slaughtered humans with a gleeful passion. In fact, it worked too well. The sereg'wethrin now made no distinction between human soldiers and human civilians (including women and children). This behavior shocked and appalled Nanshi High Command and forced them to recall and analyze of the sereg'wethrin force. But at this point, it was too late.

The sereg'wethrin leadership perceived the recall as an attack on their existence, and they immediately took action. They withdrew all sereg'wethrin troops from their surface bases, and secured their underground bases, including their primary fortress deep in the underdark. This action confirmed their rogue status and explicitly defined their sovereignty from the nation of T'Nanshi and from the race of Avlissian elves.

The sereg'wethrin have two natural drives: protection and enhancement of their existence. These natural drives are further reinforced by a number of artificially-induced drives (through conditioning): overriding concern for the collective of sereg'wethrin interests, and overriding hatred for humankind.

Sereg-superconditioning
The whole race was not super-conditioned during the M'Chek-T'Nanshi War. Only the sereg who fought in that war were superconditioned. When the sereg'wethrin split completely from T'Nanshi and went on their own into the Underdark, the superconditioning ceased to be renewed, and all sereg'wethrin coming of age right now are NOT superconditioned.

About half of all sereg'wethrin NPC's encountered right now have the superconditioning, and that number is dwindling fast.

Superconditioning does not seem to cause the sereg to hate adomkuro.

Physical Description
Sereg'wethrin look much like Avlissian elves in terms of size and build. All of them possess the same light frame, almond-shaped eyes, pointed ears and chiseled features. The main differences are their jet-black eye, skin, and hair color. They usually have strange scars through much of their body as a result of the magical conditioning they all go through.

Almost all sereg'wethrin are male. Females have only recently been produced through a specialized version of the magical conditioning which was invented to insure the survival of the species after their falling out with the High Command of T'Nanshi. Females are a subjugated caste who exist for breeding purposes only, and are rarely given any status in society. They possess the same dark features as males, but are a little shorter, reaching a maximum of 4 and a half feet tall.

Clothing is uniform and varies by rank and occupation. Those who primarily function as spellcasters in battle will wear loose-fitting clothing that contains numerous pouches and secret compartments for storing spell components and weapons. Warriors will wear armor over comfortably tight-fitting fabric.

Relations
Sereg'wethrin maintain a strong hatred of humans that is nearly unrestrainable. They see humans as a viral culture that is a threat to all other cultures near them. Unless there are predefined arrangements, they will attack any human on sight.

Sereg'wethrin maintain, by default, a non-aggressive (even friendly) relationship with most other races, especially elves. However, this relationship is one-sided, because all Avlissian and ghost elves, as well as other races, shun them as malignant traitors who have taken their hatred too far. Evil races, such as the goblin-kind fear them and will go to great lengths to avoid them, let alone making any alliances with them. To the sereg'wethrin, this is just as well, for their dislike of these races rivals that of their elven kin.

Sereg'wethrin maintain, by default, a non-aggressive (even friendly) relationship with most other races.

Alignment
Sereg'wethrin epitomize the chaotic nature of their elven heritage. They tend towards evil, because they pursue their goals without thought to the wider effects.

Sereg'wethrin Lands
The Sereg'wethrin have taken up residence in the underdark of southern Negaria. The center of sereg'wethrin society has its roots in the underdark beneath T'Nanshi, but has expanded to other parts of the cavernous complex of caves and tunnels below the surface. They build tight, military-style strongholds rather than cities, in highly defensible locations.

Religion
Sereg'wethrin are amoral and worship their own existance rather than any external deity.
There are no Priests or Clerics in the command structure and any Sereg'wethrin found worshipping a god is deemed an abberation, hunted down, and killed on sight.

Language
Sereg'wethrin speak Avlissian Elven. What's interesting is that they use Drangonari Elven to refer to themselves. This anomaly has its roots to when they were part of the T'Nanshi Military. They were so named by the T'Nanshi Military in order to maintain plausible deniability should they be caught during an operation. A few examples: Sereg'wethrin actually means "Assasin", Cuar= "Archer", Shaalth="Captain".

Names
Sereg'wethrin have kept to their elven roots when it comes to their personal names. Their family names have lost meaning over the millennia as their Avlissian elven clans have disowned them or disappeared through the ages. Those sereg'wethrin that have strong personal identities will generally take a new last name derived from a past experience or a vanquished enemy.

Male Names
Alaran, Earar, Kohav, Maher, Lonovan, Solerion, Tri'as, Tre'lanin, Zeerestova, Zero

Adventurers
Sereg'wethrin are trained to stay with their cell unless ordered to do otherwise. This makes it unlikely to find a solitary specimen out on its own with no particular mission. On occasion, a sereg'wethrin will break with its conditioning and go out on its own, but these members are hunted down by their cell and destroyed.

Combat
Sereg'wethrin primary MO for combat is ambush and trap. They lie in hiding and strike fiercely, then they disappear just as fast. When faced with a superior opponent, they are not opposed to taking out lesser opponents of his group and leaving him behind. Suicide mission are also not unheard of, especially when biological weaponry is involved.

Reproduction and The Nwal'maer
The Sereg'wethrin consisted of an all-male military force. When they broke away from Nanshi, this presented a survival problem. To solve this problem, the Sereg'wethrin began raiding Elven villages and capturing woman and young male Elves. The woman were imprisoned in a breeding sector of the primary underdark fortress, their sole purpose is to produce Sereg'wethrin children. The Sereg'wethrin thought to train the young males and incorporate them into their collective, however, the Elves proved to be resistant and ultimately they would not willingly join.

These young elven males were eventually put through another experimental conditioning process. This process proved to be extremely powerful, and dangerous. 80% of the elves undergoing this special conditioning died, but those that survived were changed. Their minds completely surpressed of willful thought, enslaved in a "superhuman" body under the command of Sereg'wethrin leadership. They become deadly tools, an extension of Sereg'wethrin might, lacking a will of their own. They were dubbed, Nwal'maer, Drangonari for "The Tortured Ones".

Sereg'wethrin is a playable race on Avlis but must start on the Underdark server and be male.

IC information for new underdark Sereg PCs
A lot of young Sereg'Wethrin have taken up residence in and near the city of Verloghokbol.

This will be a section for writing about your PCs. This is somewhat redundant with the boards, since those have journals and biography sections already, but the major benefit is that as the wiki grows, these entries can be hyperlinked into various articles that are written. So if Samwir causes trouble in Elysia, you can just click his name to read about him. Links to these bios will be added as the history section is fleshed out, so put your PC in here when you get a chance.
Remember, all info here can be taken as IC information. Don't post anything about your PC you wouldn't want others knowing. Even more importantly, if you post something about another's PC, make sure it's 100% verifiable from the public boards, or else you stand a good chance of being accused of griefing.
It's impossible to enforce guidelines on a Wiki, but if I had to suggest some, I'd go with:
# If you think it might be controversial, it is. Only post controversial things about your own PC.
# Only post about other PCs what can be found on the public boards, or better yet, don't post anything about them.

Peren Jard is a Lieutenant of the Sentinels of Visimontium. He originally came from humble beginnings in Mikona, where he got off to a rocky start. He sees his role in Visimontium as a chance to prove himself changed from his old ways

He first played a part in the Visimontium's growth when he took part in the escort of settlers through Deglos to the valley. He displayed his quiet, and slightly timid nature on the expedition, though he aided on an extended leg of the journey, defending the settlers where he could.

He fought against the Drangonari and Angadarians when the city was threatened by them. He thrived in the chaotic magical field, created by the enemy, that crippled many of the magical defenders. He finally felt his worth when his glowing katana flashed in the dark slicing the mindbenders, whilst spellcasters looked forlornly at their fingers worried about what effects they might unleash should they utter even the tiniest cantrip.

Living in the city dedicated to the god of the vortex of mortal magic encouraged Peren to study long and hard to cast magic. His studies are finally paying off, leading to a growth in confidence, since he no longer has to beg for some protection from the tricky mind spells used to target guards of the city.

Ever log onto a relatively full server, only to wander around for 10 minutes wondering where the hell everyone is? Well, here is the complete guide for each server on where the hotspots are. You may not find other players here 100% of the time, but these will certainly be your best bet. There are also many popular public watering holes to visit.
<hr>

Deglos
Fegall Mining Temple -- in Nanshi Urbaz.

Nutzdagezehesple Marketplace -- the forge.

Minur Khuzad -- the forge.

Elysia
Elf Gate -- Just outside of the Northen Residential district in Elysia. A lot of people tend to gather there, because it's the major entrance to the city and the way out to the wilderness.

Fanos' Shop -- In the Artisans District. This is a major hangout for crafters and there's almost always a couple people there.

Mr. SorBen's Fine Threads -- Southeast corner of Artisan's District.

H.E.A.L Basement -- Most of the people who previously were in Fanos and SorBen, now craft here.

Ferrell
The Port Hole Inn -- Outside.

Port Eridanus -- With the AKN and the Porthole this is probably the best you will do. It's also the first area you will encounter if you take the road from Elysia to Ferrell or the boat from Mikona.

Kuras
The Tradesman's District --

Alemby's Alchemical -- Alemby is the new Fanos!

Le'Or T'Nanshi
Le'Etzeth'Levena, The Moon Tree -- (open-air bar in the Lower Nobles Residences) has been a hotbed of activity recently.

Faav Cornath Etzev, Tree Haven Inn -- (tavern in the Marketplace) is also a good place to check, as is the Marketplace itself.

Summerleaf/Silverfall Crafting Center -- This region has lots to do and the Silverfall crafting center, in particular, tends to be busy. To get to Summerleaf, go north of the Le'Or main city entrance (with the visitor's center and all). To get to Silverfall from Summerleaf, go east. (I think it's east - bottom right exit in the Summerleaf canopies anyway.)

Mikona
The Rock -- Just outside the city gates there is a large stone. Just stand right there and people will come, as it tends to be a high-traffic area.

Privateer Enterprises -- Located in the Docks district; a crafting centre as well as major buyer/seller of player goods.

Visimontium
The Plough and Scythe -- Outside.

Nine Towers Brewery Beer Garden -- A good place for catching traffic between the alchemy academy & temples and the main town. Also useful for keeping up with the comings and goings at the mage orders towers

Wilderness
Blandenberg Ferry -- The area just south of it also is sometimes good.

The Order of the Way -- also gets a bit of traffic.

Westshore/Bachwood -- get a fair amount of traffic, or used to, as there are quite a few quests etc around there.

Zvidureth -- traditionally one of the better meeting spots in T'Nanshi, since it's fairly centrally located and near a major crossroads. The three zones North of Zvidureth (crossroads, Dwarf Trade, Entrance to Deglos) are also pretty popular.
