Male wemics try to impress the female wemics by gathering fame and glory. They roam the lands trying to make a name for themselves. Once in a while the males meet with the pride and swap stories of their deeds (and lots of liquor) with the young listening at their feet.<br>
At these times the elder female wemics, the pride elders, keep a good eye on the males to see if there is a prospective consort amongst them. This is even more so, if there is a female unmarried young adult in the pride.<br>
The young female, her mother and the pride elders come together later and the young one gets suggested to pick herself a male to get married for the continuation of the pride. Females usually see this day coming by the teasing of her mother and pride elders that precede it and start courting a male themselves or, in rare cases, run away from the pride. It is very rare for the courting to go the other way around, a male courting a female and the female agreeing.<br>
The male's mother, the female's mother along with the pride elders meet and talk about the possible marriage. When all agree it is a good marriage the proposed couple joins them and a date is set for the marriage. The male has little to say in this process.

Marriage ceremony
The day of the marriage is a great day for the pride. The pride's den is cleaned up, the males and the little cubs are groomed and there are flowers everywhere. Representatives of the neighbouring prides and wandering males come visit that day. With the whole pride gathered in the cirle and the pride elders waiting in the middle the male and female are lead in by their mothers. The mothers stand along side the elders across the proposed couple.<br>
The elders adress the pride and the proposed couple. They welcome all and tell them about the importance of consorting for the pride, the continuation of the pride, and the duties in marriage. Then the mother of the female talks about how she raised her, taught her her duties in consorting and that she vouches for her. And the mother of the male does the same after that.<br>
The elders ask the couple, first the female then the male, if they understand their duties in marriage and will fullfill them. The female then marks the male as her own and the elders pronounce the marriage and bless it. The shaman, one of the elders, leads a prayer to ask The Mother and The Father to bless this marriage. This ends the ceremony.<br>
What follows is a big fest with lost of dancing, drinking and eating and a litter of cubs 6 months later.

Marriage
The females, the mothers, the grandmother and all the 'aunts' of the pride, usually take care of the cubs and kick the males into doing the heavy work.
* Unlike Centaur, Wemics are a dynamic models - torso of a wemic is a half-orc, and will show any tattoos selected during character generation. Skin and hair colour are also as selected during character generation.
* Wemics only have 4 head models for males, and 2 for females. The "Customise Character" step of character creation defaults to head 1, and the right arrow counts up.
* The ECL of a wemic makes it level 4, which means that you do not get the same kid gloves as most characters (There are no XP penalties or resting restrictions before level 4). You can also lose your class level (eg if you start a barbarian1/beast3, you will become a beast/3 - this causes problems assigning skill points when you regain level 4 (reasons to be elaborated on with some testing.)
* As of the 1.67 patch, wemics cannot equip tiny sized weapons. This includes daggers, Kukri, shurikens, fashion accessories, etc.

Overview
A wemic (or liontaur) is a fantastical creature found in role-playing games (such as Dungeons & Dragons) and in a small amount of modern fantasy literature. They are sometimes the subject of furry art. Wemics have the torso, arms, and head of a human and the body, legs, and tail of a lion. Thus, they are like centaurs but with lion parts instead of horse parts. They are a type of taur and also a type of felitaur.

The proud and powerful wemics are a centauroid race of lion people possessing the body of a lion and a human body from the waist up where the lion's head would be. Much like their proud lion counterparts, wemics are an honorable people who take pleasure in wandering tall grassy plains and prowling lush jungles.

Personality
Wemics are classically idealistic and honorable, possessing strong codes on how to live their lives, and how to govern what is right and wrong. They walk with a proud bearing that expresses their idealism with every step, and view the world with a calm and collected attitude, until such time they decide to strike. When wemics are moved to action, they are decisive and quick. Contemplation and meditation are things that have their time and place, but they are put completely aside when the moment to move in arrives.

All wemics trace their roots through their mothers, who are generally regarded as the elders of the family units or prides. Most prides will wander the plains or jungles where they are accustomed, rarely settling down. They are at one with the land, feeding off of game in the area until they feel it is time to move on to better grounds. Though this existence seems simple, the wemics are by no means primitive. Every pride is networked with all its neighboring units, and through this network, the wemics have a pretty good idea of what passes through their territory.

In hunting and in matters of family life, the females will often take the lead, though males have been known to participate in their own hunts from time to time, and they are by no means regarded as an inferior gender. Male wemics have different personalities. Some are sociable, and some are solitary. It varies. The solitary ones often find themselves living apart from the pride, but not out of contact. Sociable ones are often found among other races.

Physical Description
From head to paws and fully erect, male wemics can stand between 6 and 7 feet tall. Females can be as tall as 6 1/2 feet. They have broad shoulders and a powerfully muscled physique on the humanoid half, which usually has skin tones ranging from lightly tanned to dark. Their leonine fur is short and can range in color from deep rusty red to sandy yellow. On their heads, male wemics possess a long mane of hair that matches the color of their lion fur, and can grow to be very long and full. Females also have a mane, but it is much shorter and not as thick.

Wemics also have some leonine facial features, such as whiskers and catlike faces with slitted pupils and eye colors of green or yellow, and sometimes red. Their piercing stares are said to strike fear into those of unpure intentions and corrupt hearts.

Most wemics do not wear any clothing on their lion half, and will only wear modest garments on their humanoid parts, especially females who wear halter tops and sometimes shawls. For those individuals that are part of an army or go frequently into battle, it is not uncommon for them to wear specialized armor or barding to protect delicate areas.

Relations
Humans who live within territory roamed by wemics will either revere them as proud creatures of order, or fear them as deadly hunters of injustice. Wemics appreciate this attitude, and will work gladly with humans if their goals coincide. Dracon and wemics tend to agree on certain points of order, but the wemics regard the dracon as passionless and rigid, while the dracon see the wemics as biased and a little unpredictable. Goodly races appreciate the wemic ideal and will work with them if given a chance, whereas evil races are wary of them and try very hard not to wind up on their enemies list.

Alignment
Wemics tend towards lawful good, because they believe strongly in the spirit of the law as a means to bettering society and creating a better place to live. They focus more on the unit than the individual, and have a habit of taking up causes for things that also stress this point.

Wemic Lands
Wemics exist mainly in two different areas on Avlis. In the west, they roam the plains of the Kurathene Empire. In the east, they inhabit the jungles of Jechran and Drotid. Both lines draw their ancestry from the same roots, and have similar cultures, with minor differences.

Wemics do not claim land as their own, and have no countries or nations. However, they will protect their chosen hunting grounds from anyone they see as a threat. They are very intelligent, and always aware that some other race may lay claim to their grounds as part of a nation of humans, elves, or others. This does not trouble them, and often they can find themselves in agreement with the nation in which they inhabit, so long as their lands are properly cared for. Often, male wemics will want to make their own way in the world apart from their matrilineal society, and they will offer their services to the nation where they live. This phenomena is seen many times in the plains of the Kurathene Empire, where goodly lords are common, though it is not often seen in places like Drotid where tyrants play.

Religion
Wemics are the creation of the god Balgar, and almost all of their race worships him as "The Son". Balgar is the son of Mikon and a mortal woman whom he conceived with named Aryeh Gidol. Later on, Aryeh's existence was preserved by Mikon, and she came to be equally worshiped by the wemics as "The Mother". Both gods play important roles in the daily lives of the wemic.

Though the wemics live in a matrilineal society, the males are not oppressed in any way. They simply do not have the drive for organization and structure that the females have. "The Mother" goddess provides qualities of order and structure, whereas "The Son" preaches doing whatever seems prudent at the time. Both philosophies are regarded equally in the wemic society, and they both fill a role.

Language
Wemics speak a language called Lerrrone, which has a characteristic drawn-out rolling of its "r" sounds. This pattern of speak is carried over when wemics try to speak other languages, such as common. It sounds almost as if they get stuck on their r's and make them into something that sounds like a growl. When a wemics r's get shorter, it is a sign of excitement, but longer exaggerated r's are a sure sign of warning, and impending anger.

Names
Wemics identify themselves by their nomadic groups or populations called prides. Each pride has a name that originates from the female who bore the first litter that established it, and wemics that are part of that pride use it to identify themselves and their origins. When a pride gets too large and splits up, a new name will be chosen for the group that breaks off, and the living members of that group will adopt the new last name. First names are derived from their mother's and father's names. For males, a piece of the father's name is taken first, and a piece of the mother's is taken second. For females, it is the other way around. Wemics that live around other races will sometimes use shortened forms of their names, or go by new names that are easier for the other races to pronounce.

Names
Borrr'Gorrrak, Brrrend'Kurrro, Garrril'Varrrom, Gorrr'Kurrr, Ku'Kerrran, Marrr'Merrrin, Shakarrro'Garrr, Ulurrro'Werrrim, Urrriko'Karrrak, Warrrick'Kasharrr

Adventurers
Male wemics are born with a sense of adventure and a desire to see the world, especially if there are older males in their pride who are already taking care of social matters there. Female wemics go adventuring less often, but when they do go, it is usually for the purposes of correcting some perceived injustice or problem affecting their group.
Most plant will tolerate acidic soil better than alkaline soil. The soil of the Protectorate has been tested in a few places, and deemed a strong, but not unmanageably so. For individual testing, Red cabbage juice can be used as indicator of acidity or alkalinity of the soil. First, boil and distill 2 liters of water. Chop cabbage finely and boil in distilled water, or pure water produced by water elementals, if any are available. Cool the resulting liquid and filter out the plant material. This filtered liquid is used as indicator. According to acidity or alkalinity of the solution, the colour of the indicator will change.
The soil should be sampled and dissolved in distilled water. This resulting liquid should be filtered and mixed with indicator solution. According to acidity or alkalinity of the solution, the colour of the indicator will change.

Blue-violet when it is near neutral. Blue-green when alkaline, greenish yellow when strongly alkaline.

Red when strongly acidic, purple/pink when acidic.
If the resulting colour of the indicator is light pink to violet, the soil is in ideal range of acidity for the plant growth.

Avoid planting in alkaline soil, if at all possible. There is no practical way of permanently, or even temporarily, counteracting naturally occurring alkalinity of the soil. However there are some plants that are tolerant of such conditions.

For acidity, Lime is often most ideal solution to counteract acidity of the soil. First, test how much lime you will need to add with sample of soil. Use about 1 barrel full of soil for the test. Using method mentioned above, test each time you add small amount of lime to the sample. Once the ratio of lime to soil is determined, apply the amount to the plot. ~Always err on side of caution~ Counteracting acidity is far easier than counteracting alkalinity.

Continuing these tests spread out throughout the growing season will help to judge how quickly the soil regains its acidity. Plants can actually cause the soil to become more acidic, as they grow. Plants take in different nutrients, like we take in food. when they do this, they take in what is called a 'base.' The base cancelled out the acidity in the soil. Fortunately the plants balance this out by returning the base to the soil when the plant material we don't eat is turned back into the soil. It will still take testing to figure out the correct amounts of lime and plant material.

If lime isn't readily available, crushed sea shell can be used instead. We are looking into finding different sources of lime, and will give more information about it when we've compiled a good list.
Farming techniques - an overview
I'd like to welcome you all to this lecture about farming techniques. This lecture gives an overview of the farming techniques and other lectures will give a more in depth information about the various farming techniques. If you have questions dont hesitate to ask them, but I may have refer you to other lectures. I would like to talk about the following farming techiques: crop rotation, fertalizing and acidic soil. But first of all let me tell you a bit about why all these techniques are needed.<br>
If you look around Blandenburg and M'Chek you can see that the soil is very dry and looks more like a desert then farmland. In the years past these lands have been used to feed a lot a people with wheat, corn, milk and meat. And when the land could not support the intense farming anymore, people moved on to new places to farm the same way again.
As you may well know the soil has no more nutrition left for the plant to grow. We looked at this and came up with two ways to help the soil: fertalizing and crop rotation.<br>
With fertalizing you add nutrition to the soil again and you can do this in various ways. One way is to use dung of the animals and another way is to use leftovers of plants. Collect the dung and plants in separate heaps during the year. It might be best to make the dung heap at the edges of town or even out of town to minimize the annoyance for the citizens of the town. The dried dung and decayed plants have to be spread on the land before planting a new crop and plowed under. But watch the amounts too much and too little isnt good. More of fertalizing and the detailed ins and outs in the separate lecture.<br>
What we also found out is that different plants us different nutrition from the soil. And that plants also give nutrition back to the soil. So you can see that plating the same plants over and over again on the same piece of land makes it unusable after a certain amount of crops. But if you plant one plant this year and another plant the next that dont need the same nutrition and give the needed nutrition back to the soil for the other plant you save the soil. This process of growing different plants on the same field year each year is called crop rotation. Crop rotation has more advantages, but more on that in the separate lecture.<br>
Here in Blandenburg there is some added problem acidic grounds. We are still working on this. The ideas are good, but we have to test them in practice. So I cant tell you any definite way how to get rid of acidic ground at the moment. But I hope that ANRA can tell you more about it in the near future.<br>
I hope this lecture gave you ideas about how to manage your lands in the future.<br>
Any race is acceptable.

Base of operations:<br>
Current base of operations is in The Village of Blandenberg. The Academy is building the main building in Blandenberg, and possibly a presence in Visimontium as well. Buildings are under construction.<br><br>
Gurky Bogglewig

How to contact us:<br>
The current Headmistress is Rika Vandor—At this time, characters can contact the guild by "leaving a message at the Temple of Cha%27reth in Zvidureth, addressed to Rika" (PM Tygermoon). There will be a Director of Relations, and when that office is filled, the information will be posted here. We are currently seeking active membership. (Get in on the ground floor of something great!)

What we do:<br>
The Academy is a neutral and unaffiliated school dedicated to education regarding agriculture (farming, animal husbandry) and management of natural resources (conservation, land management). The Academy’s purpose is to provide education, research, and remediation services to the world of Avlis in the broad areas of natural resources management and agriculture, with the intention of eliminating and preventing famine, promoting balance between population and land, relieve suffering through the discovery, teaching, and application of knowledge, and improve standards of living across all of Avlis.

Think of it as cross between a vocational school and a community college in a rural farming area.

Our goals are teaching better farming techniques, researching new methods of agriculture and new varieties of plants for food crops, teaching land management and soil improvement and forestry management, and teaching animal husbandry.

What to expect:<br>
Lots of role play, crafting, and research. We are currently involved in several major happenings in southern Avlis, including the events surrounding Blandenberg. There is the possibility of activities in Visimontium, as well (this is in process). We need folks who like to RP, write, and are interested in invention, and working on long term projects and plots. There is also a good guild to get involved in if your active IG play time is limited, as a lot of what we do right now is scheduled, and much can be done on the boards or through PM’s. As membership grows, more things will happen.

Restriction:<br>
Our major restriction is that players realize that this is an organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of people across Avlis, through teaching and research. So, lots of role-play, a lot of quests and research, and defense of those who are doing so.

Recent Activities:<br>
Sucessfully reviving nexus points throughout M'Chek, reviving and strengthening the M'Chek/Mikona lifestone(s). This took many months, and created alliances with several groups for ANRA, including the Shemathen Le'yeritath, the Council of Balance, the Blackhawks, and others. Work is beginning for improving the farming plots within The Village of Blandenberg itself, and expanding outward into the Protectorate from there.
Farming techniques - an overview
I'd like to welcome you all to this lecture about farming techniques. This lecture gives an overview of the farming techniques and other lectures will give a more in depth information about the various farming techniques.

To make a new entry, use this template.

This is a section for writing about your PCs. This may seem redundant with the boards, since those have journals and biography sections already. Furthermore, as the wiki grows, these entries can be hyperlinked into various articles that are written. So if Samwir causes trouble in Elysia, you can just click his name to read about him. Links to these bios will be added as the history section is fleshed out, so put your PC in here when you get a chance.

Remember, all info here can be taken as IC information. Don't post anything about your PC you wouldn't want others knowing. Even more importantly, if you post something about another's PC, make sure it's 100% verifiable from the public boards, or else you stand a good chance of being accused of griefing.
What we do: So far, we're just trying to gather as many interested wemics as we can, and 'network' together to allow new wemics to benefit form the expertise and wisdom of older wemics. It's fun to hang out, and just hunt like a large pride of Wemics would.

So far, we have wemics from all walks of life. Warriors, rangers, magi, smiths and crafters, monks. You name it. If you need tips, training or just a leg up in the field, we can connect you with the people who can help, and will support you in any way we can. Yes, with money, too, but within reason. This does not mean you can't belong to the Holy Reavers of Maleki, or the Order of Valok. It means you can't manipulate a fellow Pride member or sacrifice fellow wemics to Maleki. Such a crime will see the whole Pride breathing down your neck looking for blood. Not a comfortable thing...

Occasionally, something will happen that will call for the entire Pride to act. In instances like that, it's usually someone acting out directly against younger members of the Pride, a Pride member in dire peril or other wemics in the South in trouble. In times like that, the only requirement is to put aside all personal feelings, and extract that wemic from trouble or deliver justice on their behalf. That is... if they didn't bring it on themselves.

Occasionally, for grins and giggles, a noble cause may be brought to the Pride (either by Pride Members or outside petitioners) to be acted upon in an official Pride capacity. It will be the SOLE discretion of the Pride Elders as to whether Pride support will be given to anything, or any cause, and only by unanimous vote.

What to expect: Meetings, hunts, gatherings, talking, fighting stuff, pets & training demonstrations, jokes, some really bad jokes, drinks and just a bunch of four legged friends who can answer all the questions you may have about being a wemic. And if we don't know the answer, we can probably figure out how to get it.

Background
As he tells most the tale how he became a mage, when he is not late for a meeting... In his youth he got the standard training in his pride in Drotid: learning to fight. He has to admit that he could keep up with most all cubs by dancing around their axes and blades. But they all knew his weakness and waited and kept deflecting his blows with ease. Because in the end they all knew that his stamina would run out and they would get him. Mhog'ar still has the scars to show for it. He usually says "I stank at fighting".<br>
The pride elders feeling sorry for him tried to find something he was better at. The local shaman of the pride took him under his wing and taught him the basics of casting. Being eager and much better at it then fighting the shaman realised soon that he had to send Mhog'ar off to Le'Or T'Nanshi so that the elves could teach him more of magics. So Mhog'ar left the pride at the age of 8.<br>
After having spend only a few months in Le'Or he left for Elysia where he ran into Aria, who helped him to grow, saved him a few times and taught him a lot. She later introduced him into the old Ivory Order of the Sun. Mhog'ar is now the great mage of relations of the new Ivory Order of the Sun after having been the senior mage of Ferrell for a few years.
He usually says "I stank at fighting".

So Mhog'ar left the pride at the age of 8.
