The days are short and the nights are long,<br>
Fires in the hearth, burning late <br>
Plenty of night, to write a song<br>
Dreams of sunshine and warmth I await.<br>
<br>
Snow tickles my nose with its kiss<br>
Icicles sparkle like diamonds<br>
walking in the woods, we all admire this<br>
but by midwinter, I’m wishing for islands.<br>
<br>
I watch my breath freeze in little puffs<br>
I pile on cloaks, tights and gloves<br>
and brave the wind to walk in the snowy fluff <br>
it’s the change in seasons that I dream of.<br>
<br>
As Midwinter winds blow, fierce and strong<br>
Midsummer nights, for you I long.<br><br>

Spring will come in all its glory,<br>
birds chirping, trees budding,<br>
Ahh, that’s when I can tell a story<br>
The sun shining, and the bees buzzing.<br>
<br>
Watch the world come to life,<br>
Waking from its winter sleep,<br>
Trimming fresh flowers with my knife,<br>
The sights, the sounds, the scents, make me leap.<br>
<br>
Sun kisses the rock near the pond<br>
My favorite spot to sit and contemplate,<br>
as I watch the morning dawn<br>
sometimes before bed, because I was up too late.<br>
<br>
As Midwinter winds blow, fierce and strong<br>
Midsummer nights, for you I long.<br>

Next is summer, warm and true,<br>
Long days, short nights, wandering galore<br>
These are the days full of inspiration all anew<br>
Oh so much to do, nothing seems a chore.<br>
<br>
Swimming, dancing, floating down the river<br>
singing songs of light and love<br>
Summer seems to make us givers<br>
of ourselves, and reaping the gifts from above.<br>
<br>
Picnics at the pond, laughter ringing<br>
Midsummer finery at its briefest<br>
my heart is light, and my step is springing<br>
I love it most when it’s the warmest.<br>
<br>
As Midwinter winds blow, fierce and strong<br>
Midsummer nights, for you I long.<br>

Crisp wind blow in from the Port<br>
autumn arrives, the leaves are orange, red and golden<br>
the apples are best, and the cider by the quart<br>
days start to shorten and to the thought of winter we are beholden.<br>
<br>
As the nights start to linger and turn cold<br>
I try my best to enjoy, the last of the sun<br>
Mid-autumn look forward to costume choices bold<br>
Tricks and treats, and then harvest parties to cap off the fun.<br>
<br>
Winter comes cold and snowy<br>
Solstice to celebrate, you’re almost there<br>
Midwinter pleasures to pass the time…make it glowy<br>
Spring will come again, say a prayer.<br>
