Sonnet 1
by Diziet Est-Vorre
Should I expect from you a firmer show Of love, for who the only constant act's To seige my will until good reason cracks, And my own hands my battlements lay low? Who claims my heart as streams by melting snow Are slowly stirred at first from calm, then sacked-- And forced by sudden torrents to react, Join heedless to the maddened head-long flow? I know your will is not as weak as mine, But my heart roused is not a trifling thing; Unfirm, my heart has given me to you-- Then keep your heart! I'll take your smile for sign Of love returned. My unfirm heart shall fling At you a love that's firm enough for two.
