On Elements
Fire, brilliant light That breathes the dawn and touches cobblestone and cloud.
That consumes and in bitter rage draws blood and bite.
Water, breath of winter, touch of ice Wild fury, cold heart
Whose gentle blanket paints the land white And draws glass upon the lake.
Air, gentle whisper, all-surrounding; everywhere Messenger and listener
Wind that gathers secrets; shiver, breathe, and fly.
Earth; gentle darkness Forming, stable, standing Holds the ground, guardian;
Forge and balance; Keeps the ways
Beasts, roaming over land Lion, bear, raven, tiger Hunting, searching, pack;
Watch with wide eyes open; Sniff out the hidden trail.
