Scared, tattooed, and certainly not a cuddler when it's over.

Born into a proud military family within the Bullwark military structure, Adreinne's lineage was steeped in valor and dedication. Her ancestors had fought for the confederation, modestly rising within the ranks with each generation proving itself. Adreinne was no different. She followed in her family's storied history and attended the Confederate Military Academy, before signing up with the Confederate Army of Bullwark for the better part of a decade. Stationed on the border with Dubunat, she frequently saw heavy action.

In her last skirmish at the border, Adreinne took an axe to her helm that penetrated the reinforced metal, leaving her gravely wounded. Her company found her after the battle ended and brought in the White Necromancers of Uol to attend to her wounds. Defying the odds, she found her way back into the fray the following season on the border. This was her world, her calling, and what she understood best.

After a decade of service and fulfilling her contract with the Confederate Army of Bullwark, Adreinne believed she would be offered an officer's contract, opening her path to the Knights—where many of her bloodline had served. But in a cruel twist of fate, she wasn't offered even a contract at her current rank of Command Sergeant. Instead, the position went to a young man fresh out of the Academy because of family ties. Paid out for surviving the decade-long contract, she found herself retired in her prime.

Her father, leveraging his connections, managed to secure her a post at the Confederate Military Academy, where she was given the rank of Instructor of Heavy Infantry, Junior Grade. After two years, she was promoted to full instructor, proving that she not only remembered what she was taught but could also teach it effectively. While taking students out on a seasonal shakedown patrol before promoting them into their final year, they discovered signs of goblins. Adreinne took command from the students to ensure a safe retreat.

However, a few students of higher family rank refused to follow the orders of an instructor, believing their own status as officers of the academy exempted them from obeying. In the ensuing chaos, while most students formed defensive lines and prepared to retreat, those refusing orders broke rank and sought glory against unknown numbers. The result was catastrophic—the loss of 36 out of her 82 students before the goblins retreated.
Duty-bound, Adreinne accepted the punishment for her failure to control the students and ensure their safety. She was stripped of her rank and lashed 36 times for each lost student and an additional 11 times for the generations of her family she dishonored. This punishment was carried out in full view of the students and her parents. A week later, she awoke in the hospital to discover she was no longer a Rathmore and had been outcast by her own parents for the dishonor. She took the name Scarletwound, a somber nod to the appearance of her back.
Upon her release by the healers, Adreinne took to traveling as a mercenary, her goal being to head south to the uncivilized lands she had heard about from others.
Adreinne's journey was marked by a relentless pursuit of purpose and redemption. She wandered the lands, taking on various mercenary jobs, her skills honed by years of combat and instruction. Her reputation grew, not just as a formidable warrior but as a leader who bore her scars with pride and resilience.
The weight of her past, the loss of her family, and the burden of her dishonor drove her forward. She sought solace in the chaos of battle, finding brief moments of clarity amidst the clashing of swords and the roar of combat. Each victory, however small, was a step towards reclaiming her honor and proving her worth.
In the uncivilized lands, Adreinne faced challenges unlike any she had encountered before. She navigated treacherous terrains, fought against fierce creatures, and brokered uneasy alliances with local tribes. Through it all, she remained steadfast, her resolve unbroken.
As the years passed, tales of the Scarletwound spread far and wide. Whispers of her heroic deeds and unwavering determination reached even the most distant corners of the confederation. She became a symbol of resilience and strength, a living testament to the power of perseverance.
Despite the hardships and losses, Adreinne's spirit never wavered. She continued to forge her path, driven by an unyielding desire to prove that she was more than her past, more than her mistakes. Her journey of self-discovery was an epic tale of heroism and loss, a story that would be remembered for generations to come.
