Who Speaks Draconic?

The language of Draconic is, primarily, spoken by:

  • Dragons
  • Those of Draconic descent.
  • Those who have close contact/relationships with dragons and studied the language with their Draconic contacts, intensely, long enough to become fluent.
  • Those who took considerable time to investigate and find books/writings about the language to learn and practice it on their own long enough to become fluent.

What Are The Origins Of Draconic?

The origins of the language of Draconic are not known for certain. There is rumor and speculation it was created or brought to Avlis by either His Most Splendid Majesty, the Platinum Dragon or built over time by the dragons brought to or created on Avlis.

A Note About The Word "Dragon":

Of curious note, the word "darastrix" and its plural "darastrixi" are more modern than the more original form of using "draushum" to mean "dragon" in the Common tongue.

Ancient Versus Modern Draconic:

There are two forms of Draconic, a more ancient version, and a more modern version. The majority of speakers use the more modern version of Draconic.
