27th June - 2nd July 2004 Visimontium Migration; Mikona, Le'Or T'nanshi, Elysia, Deglos, Visimontium
Knackered. Tha’ the un word I ‘ave fer ‘ow the whole bloody affair left me feelin’. Knackered…
60,000 left M'Chek. 58,845 survived till Zvidureth
We gathered at Camp A: Finmaegan Keep.
The newly commissioned helms were distributed ta those present, the Sentinels lookin' a fine group in 'em. Assistin' the Sentinels at Camp A were the Guards of M'Chek, the Council of Balance and the Ebony Order. 30,000 migrants left from Camp A.
The trip ta Nelthrope were uneventful an' a bit o' time were taken initially settlin' inta the flow of things.
At Camp B: Nelthrope Keep.
An additional 30,000 migrants joined the group. The Ebons were replaced by members of the Ivory order an' the CoB would continue wi' us ta the borderlands at Nan'sh'Talt.
After a quick journey up north, the convoy were met at Nan'sh'Tal by the Hands o' Dru'el an' members of the Nanshi military. 'ere, the Ivory Order an' CoB took their leave. After a short wait, durin' which the surroundin' areas were combed, we began our march ta Riversmeet, the first supply camp. The members of the Nanshi military warned us tha' the woods were dangerous an' constant watch were kept out fer ambushes.
'twas in the midst o' these woods tha' we were set upon by a group of Sereg. The battle were quick an' decisive fer the mos' part. The escorts dispatchin' the Cuars an' a lone Istaar guarded by two Meaglars without much problem. The Cuars managed ta cut down a few o' the migrants an' after the dust 'ad settled, bout 300 were estimated dead an' more wounded. We set 'bout healin' as best we could till we made it ta Riversmeet, where we were met by the Shemathen, FEATers an' a member of the 4A. It seemed tha' the camp were already attacked by Sereg a few hours afore we 'ad arrived.
After restin' up an' organisin' the migrants, we began the march ta Zvidureth. We go' ambushed righ' an' proper a few leagues ahead of Riversmeet, from the eastern groves. This time by more Cuars an' the doubleaxe-wieldin' Shaalth, 'oo managed ta put away quite a few warriors down wi' a single swipe of his weapon. It were a long drawn out battle, wi' mos' findin' it hard ta hit the slippery bugger. The Shaalth finally went down under a barrage o' blows from all sides.
The death toll rose by another 300 or so an' the migrants were beginnin' ta panic. It took a bit o' consolin' an' downright forcible pushin' in sum cases ta git the poor folk movin' again. Zvidureth were jus' a coupla leagues away when the final ambush were sprung. This time, thar were two of the powerful Shaalth, supported by a buncha elven bandits. The Sentinels wi' the other groups took heavy losses bu' managed ta recover an' finally dispatch the two Shaalth.
This were the worst attack, wi' more'n 400 migrants bein' killed. We herded the rest inta Zvidureth where the Healers of Cha'reth an' the members of ROTE 'elped take care of the masses. Our day were no' yet o'er it seemed 'cos the millin' crowds were blasted by a hellish spell from a lone Istaar, 'oo had infiltrated the camp. He were put down quickly, bu' we lost another 200 or so migrants 'cos of tha'.
It were decided by the General an' Officers tha' the journey 'ad taxed every'un more'n expected. The migrants were asked ta make temporary camp an' settle in fer an extended rest afore the final leg of the journey ta Visimontium.
58,845 left Zvidureth, 57013 arrived in Visimontium.
After the migrants 'ad camped an' recovered from the hard journey ta Zvidureth, the convoy began ta move out on the final leg of their trip ta Visimontium. The trip ta Nanshi Urbaz an' the entrance of the Causeway were thankfully uneventful. The Sentinels were assisted by the Healers of Cha'reth, an' members of ROTE an' FEAT.
The Causeway entrance from Urbaz 'ad a minor cave in which held us up. It were cleared eventually an' we began our journey again. Members of the OoG an' OoD joined us at this time. The migrants moved thru many leagues till the Crossroads, many pausin' ta appreciate an' comment on the ganoom an' dwergen skills employed while designin' an' constructin' the Causeway. A few leagues afore the Crossroads, the convoy were accosted by a number o' Earth Elementals made of 'em older rock layers. Thar were much panic among the masses as mos' probly none of 'em had e'er encountered un afore. The threat were quickly an' cleanly eliminated by the skirmish screen we decided ta employ.
Onward ta the Causeway chasm an' the final supply camp afore Visimontium, the ceiling began ta cave in an' molten lava began ta flow thru in a few places. Mages were hurriedly stationed ta blast the ceiling at regular intervals wi' cold spells. A few migrants were lost in the rushed march. Things came ta a real pickle jus' afore we entered the camp, when a massive quake cracked the ceilin' above us an' we had ta force many commoners ta run fer the safety of the camp. 'ere the mages of the Blue an' Ashen combined their forces ta stem the lava flow temporarily an' the convoy managed ta move thru with fewer losses than we woulda had otherwise.
The camp 'ad bin set up by the Blue an' Ashen mages ably supported by the monks of the OoD, dwarves of the Brigade an' Rhissaerk Jalesh 'oo had bin specially requested ta aid in the effort. The wounded were given sum relief by those 'oo had the skills, food an' water supplies were rationed out fer the final leg of the march ta Visimontium, an' ye could feel the anticipation keenly once the migrants 'ad rested up.
The camp were set upon by a number o' Dwergen Mercs lookin' ta probly take slaves fer trade or wha'ever loot they could git their grubby paws on. Our defensive line held firm an' we managed ta push 'em back till they broke an' retreated. Scouts were sent ahead ta check the area an' we started movin' once the signal were given. We made quick time ta the fork 'tween Bazgamph an' Marazdin where the convoy were ambushed by a group of Sereg. Mos' unexpected, bu' the skirmish screen worked a fine treat an' this time 'round, the dark uns taken care of without much bother.
Unfortunately fer us, we were also attacked by a group of Earth elementals near on the same time, an' they managed ta kill a fair few migrants.
After dispatchin' them an' reorganisin' the masses, we made our way thru the Causeway caves. A few beetles, more Earth elemntals an' sum of the Fire kind were met an' finished off quicker than an ale keg at a Dwergen weddin'. The stretch of Causeway right afore Nutz proved tricky as thar were a crack in the caverns caused by the quakes. This were apparently directly connected ta a basin of acidic gas which flooded the causeway. Many succumbed ta the poisonous fumes an' we could nay do much bout it other than minimise our losses.
Weary bu' hopeful, the migrants were escorted ta Nutz where the clergy of Fegall awaited ta take custody of 'em an' guide 'em ta the City of Visimontium where the hopes o' these pioneers will be fulfilled, their makers willin'.
