Introduction
Wraith spiders are an interesting lot.
I have studied them many a time over the years from afar and from extremely close up. Yes, close enough to touch! So believe me when I say they are quite cold, in fact the cold does not seem to bother them at all.
Whether they are truely undead is an interesting question. They certainly share specific traits with those of the undead. The aforementioned immunity to cold being one of them. They also have a powerful draining bite that sucks the very soul from their victims and mundane weapons have a habit of just bouncing off their 'decayed' flesh.
That is not the sole extent of their particular 'charm' however, for they do cling on to habits that I can only describe as 'spider like'. They 'live' alongside other spiders, most notably in the caves on the outskirts of Elysia. These spiders in particular are remarkable. I have witnessed them casting spells that shield them from attack, rather like the mage spells I have seen where the caster take on a ghostly hue. I have also seen them cast a debilitating attack at range...
It was a shame I had to destroy so many of them to learn these things, but you cannot make an omelete without breaking a few eggs.
Now, you may think that a possibly undead creature would be nauseous to any Fylgia, but I stand as proof that they can be tamed! I have myself trained more than one in my studies. In particular, during training I observed that as the creature advances and becomes stronger, so too does it's draining abilities. I am hoping I can unlock some of the spell like abilities I have seen wild ones perform.... Time will tell.
Feeding Habits
I doubt these beautiful abominations need to bother with spinning webs around their prey, as they do not need to wait for the insides to putrefy in order to suck out the juicy innards. No, these vile, but magical creatures, feed on the living souls of their victims.
Disposition and Social Habits
These spiders are surprisingly social and will lie in wait for their prey. I would say, "Do not be surprised," but alas you will be, as they appear to materialise out of nowhere right in front of you.
Habitat
Wraith spiders can be found in forests and woodland, in caves and old ruins. They linger near other spiders and appear to coexist quite happily.
Fylgia
Most compatible: Giant Spider
