Place of Origin: M'chek, Mikona, Noble District, House of Benneset (defunct).

History: Blake is the second youngest child of Nicolo, head of the ancient but declining noble house of Benneset. Eighth in line of succession, he is unlikely to ever enter politics. He has recently been apprenticed to an alchemist to earn his keep, a requirement in his now financially troubled home. Hard work is alien to him, having grown up with few responsibilities, and he has taken to partying, traveling, and other extravagant means of escape. At the urging of two of his older brothers, he studies fencing as a means of self-defense. He has learned the two-handed fencing style traditionally practiced by his family, and prefers to wear light or no armor for better freedom of movement. A loyal citizen of Mikona, he attends services at the Temple of Mikon.

History: Blake is the second youngest of nine children of Nicolo, current head of the ancient but declining noble house of Benneset. Though prominent members of the family sat in the M'Chek's noble house in centuries past, recent generations have been no more than scribes and lawyers. In recent years, the ancestral House of Benneset was sold to settle debts, and all but one of the family left Mikona for the Seven Cities. Since his family's relocation, Blake is the last to remain in Mikona today.

Motivation: On the floor of Mikona's Noble House, few know the name Benneset outside of family friends. Even among the family itself, Blake can hardly get the attention he craves. Secretly he schemes for a way to achieve notoriety, an alternate identity that would protect his family honor. He is driven by compulsions of theft that he can scarcely control at times. Unrealistically, he daydreams of stealing enough to restore his family's wealth and power. The greatest thrill he can ever remember was stealing a trinket from a Mikona market stall, on a dare from a childhood friend. He tries to recreate that rush again and again, in dangerous nocturnal outings, and impulsive grabs at strangers' coin purses. At times, he's revolted by what he sees himself becoming, and he could never steal from someone he knew (unless has saw it as revenge).

Race: Human (M'chekian)

Place of Origin: M'chek, Mikona, Noble District, House of Benneset (defunct).

Blakes' mother died of the Spite when he was only a few years old. Clearly he has never forgotten who was responsible for the plague that killed her. His public campaign against the Sereg'wethrin is testament to his continuing desire for revenge.

Perhaps it is his own interpretation of his patron Mikon's axiom of balancing extremes that motivates Blake to keep strange company.

While Blake leads a spendthrift lifestyle, it is clearly not funded by his family's exhausted treasury. Though a low-ranking member of the Guild for Advancement of Knowledge in Nature, his money couldn't come from an apprentice alchemist's stipend. For explanation, he sometimes brags of far-fetched adventures, grand battles, and recovering lost treasures. But his eyes and tone of voice leave the impression that there's more to the story than he tells. There are rumors around Mikona of his having a criminal history, a wealthy mysterious patron, or connections to a foreign government, but few but his closest friends could confirm or deny this gossip.
