Benteak-Kune
Tyeduan Tribes: The Benteak-Kune
Though they no longer exist as a single cohesive tribe, the character of Tyedu cannot be described without mentioning the Benteak-Kune, the tribe of the great warrior god Ra-Ghul. This legendary tribe flourished under the charismatic warrior. However, in his absence it later fragmented into a smaller number of like-minded tribes that exist to this day.
As descendants of the Mikonators and local Spirits of Tyedu, the Benteak were people of great strength and charisma. When not engaging enemy tribes, they thrived on a simple combination of farming, hunting big game, and ice fishing at local lakes. As a tribe of spirit-kin they were moderately large, and they were relatively successful at carving out their own territory.
The fate of the Benteak was altered irreversibly when shortly after the Kurathene War of Unification a hauntingly beautiful woman of great stature moved to the lands of the Benteak where she was welcomed as one of their own because of her similar appearance to their kind. She would soon bear a son, among the first of what would become the modern-spirit kin, bearing the great divine blood of the descendents of Mikonators, the blood of nature spirits, and the mortal blood of humans. This young half-breed, named Ra-Ghul, began life as an amiable, if pitied, member of the tribe, as his elders regarded him as inferior due to his triple mixed blood. This made him far more eager to prove himself in battle, though the tribal elders paid little heed to the young warrior.
Within a decade however, the Benteak began to see their fortunes wane, as its central location and many shared borders meant that it was surrounded by hostile tribes. Rather than being able to defend itself due to its central location, the tribe became the target of raids by all the combined clans. The actions taken by Ra-Ghul and his hundred fellow half-breeds would not only change the fate of the Benteak, but eventually that of Tyedu itself, as his eventual victory over the rival tribes of this region would propel both the Benteak-Kune and the modern spirit-kin into the center light of the Tyeduan nation.
Though once numbering well into the tens of thousands, the Benteak-Kune today refers to a confederated group of four tribes that live in a roughly dispersed area occupying about a third of the western peninsula. All these tribes claim direct lineage to Ra-Ghul, and it is here that they continue his tradition of frenzied combat, hoping one day to equal their great chief’s feats of strength.
The four tribes of the Benteak-Kune today are:
- The Div'layven (White Bear)
- The Kohol'evin (Blue Rock)
- The Amnopesh (Spirit Tribe)
