About the Ivory OrderThe Ivory Order of the Sun is a mage order that works tirelessly to promote the Greater Good. The Order seeks help those who can't help themselves, to ease the suffering of the masses and to fight those who would seek to cause harm to the peoples of Avlis. Prospective MembersThe Order is a mage order, and as such only accepts those with direct control over the arcane. If you like what you have heard, and you are a mage whether young or accomplished, the Order is definitely interested in speaking with you. You should seek an Ivory mage in you home region, and speak with him or her about becoming involved. Before applying find out all you can about the various Orders to make sure the Ivory seems right for you. Once you have decided you want to join, you will go through a two step process: First you will need to speak with both a Senior and a Great mage regarding your interest, after which you will be invited to a meeting of the Order to take the oath of an initiate. After becoming an initiate you will want to attend both of the AMM lectures if you haven't already. Finally after a period of time has elapsed if all has gone smoothly you can take the oath and become a full member at a subsequent meeting. HistoryThe Ivory Order was founded by Melonius Mennallin at the behest of Chert, the last archmage of the White Order of the old Fold of Nine. Chert charged Melonius with founding a mage order dedicated to the ideals that the White and similar orders had represented. The name Ivory Order of the Sun was chosen to symbolize light and a new beginning. After the events of the Vortex of Chaos, Melonius accepted Andrinor's offer. The Ivory would honor Andrinor as the god of magic, and in return Andrinor would grant the Ivory a voice in a new council with a mandate to regulate arcane magic on Avlis. Along with the Ashen and Ebony Orders, the Ivory became one of the three founding Orders of Andrinor's Trust. The Ivory Order was given its modern form at the end of the tenure of the fourth archmage, Lafreth Theoalideth. As his last act before stepping down, Lafreth divided the Ivory into two separate entities, each to be led by one of his former apprentices: the White Order under Fergus Goodmane, and the new Ivory Order under Jarius Hana. The modern Ivory can be seen as a successor to the ideals of the Silver Order of the old Fold of Nine. The current archmage is Jarius's successor, Tralil Breck, the sixth archmage since the Ivory's founding and the second since the reformation.
