PCs:Miriel Hana
Latest Update: The Spring of 2242
Preface
Elemmiire y'Hannah Dravanie tel'Suzail is a public figure in Visimontium from the founding days of the Holy City of Andrinor and is commonly referred to as Miriel Hana (at a time Miriel Hana Xilo'rulithii). She is a chronicler and longtime member of the City's law enforcement and standing army, until her departure to Tyedu in 2235. While Miriel's historical significance in Visimontium and beyond is yet to be evaluated, this text focuses on her personality and appearance.
Eudaimon Dawnblade whom Miriel weds in 2230, keeps the only known portrait of hers. The portrait, painted by Janur da Medican in his Mikona studio circa 2212, presents Miriel with her student Helene, both in formal dress.
The depiction embellishes Miriel's unnatural pallor of complexion and petite stature (under 4'11" at 90 lbs). The latter is emphasized all the more by an imposing staff wrought of dark steel and onyx, topped with a crystal skull head. Framed by short, silvery white hair, Miriel's drawn face bears an expressionless mask. Her eyes display hues of ice and steel, sharpened further by her intense stare.
In Janur's painting, Miriel is wearing a modest silver necklace, adorned by a small, bright ruby. Delaroweil of Silver Fall, the artisan behind most of Miriel's jewelry, claims no hand in it. Miriel has been noted in the Avlissian South also for an eclectic wardrobe of her own design. Lady Benneset, the Ice Witch of Mikona, keeps a few of Miriel's original designs; unfortunately, the reptile scale gown portrayed by Janur is not among them.
In contrast, the populace of Visimontium remembers Miriel mostly in the red and black uniform of a Sentinel officer, seldom in a Trust member robe (Ashen, Blue, and eventually White). On taking her farewell with the City, many have witnessed the scar crossing Miriel's left palm, splitting the insignia of Ra-Ghul imprinted in her skin. The palm of her right hand bears a replica of Andrinor's Mark, usually found on a Trust mage's right shoulder.
Miriel's voice is a light alto prone to a soft rasp, as estimated by Arania Moondshadow. From their time with Miriel as their Sentinel sponsor, Selash of the Green and Vanar of the White vividly recall this soft rasp pitching into a shrill croak. Miriel's own Sentinel mentor, the General Marshal Anifail, would not deny her short temper.
In the South, Miriel's voice has mostly been heard in the Avlis Tower University lecture halls. "I do not think myself a wizard" are nonetheless Miriel's own words, much to the dismay of her tutor Ialath of the Ashen (now Ebony). A Fatespinner theoretician, Miriel has openly advocated to evade the use of magic whenever possible. In her practice, she has used solely gestures and no words to cast spells.
A small but no negligible part of Miriel's image as a mage is her familiar: Lomion, a diminutive fruit bat, also known as "library bat". This otherwise docile animal has become infamous for an unhealthy inclination towards sugary foods and beverages, causing it to fly amok. During her years as an outcast to the Trust (the 2160s), Miriel has also been seen in the company of a notably whiny imp.
Miriel is also remembered for employing a melodious semblance to the Drangonari language. Paired with her outlandish appearance, this is a possible clue to her origin. Those looking for more specific information would be hard-pressed to find any. Beyond the famous anecdote of Miriel's ill-fated planar travel to Avlis, only to awaken in plague quarantined Elysia during the Second Fairy War, there are no credible notes on her past life.
After the tragic consequences of bringing the Xilo'rulithii - Noss'tau affair to the public, Miriel has abruptly rejected any inquiries on her personal life, past or present.
Recent Rumours
Five winters pass since Miriel sets off for the Frozen North, until she is once more seen in Visimontium.
Rumor has it that she has undergone an incident, causing her to lose a great many of her personal memories. She has also been rather insistent to introduce herself by her formal name, Elemmiire y'Hannah Dravanie tel'Suzail. Her retirement from active Sentinel duty and her move from the White Order of the Light to the Ashen Order of the Stars are another hot topic in tavern gossip.
Elemmiire is rarely found in the company of people she has associated with before, and is a frequent guest at Visimontium's Arcane Imports. She has also been sighted at Vorin's Treasure Trove and Rest each fortnight.
By the end of the summer following her return, Elemmiire is almost invariably found in the company of Xsaiav'lairnn Mystrif and Ronan Ceril of the Ebony Order of the Moon.
Later on, with her appointments to the Avlis Tower University becoming more frequent, she has reportedly been sighted visiting with Lady Kate Benneset and Sir Thaylis Beign of M'Chek.
