Ruv'Suy Tribe
Ruv'Suy Tribe
The Ruv'Suy is a Romini tribe found in the northeastern lands of Negaria. The four clans that make up the tribe have semi-permanent settlements and dozens of camps spanning several hundred miles along southern Tyedu, northeastern Galdos, and northern Jechran.
The Ruv’Suy, or the Silver Wolf Tribe in common, is a semi-nomadic tribe comprised of four main clans known as the Reznik, Domari, Viara, and Usari. They have a loose, nomadic structure. Their society does not deviate away from their tribal heritage. Their tribal society is more networked together in the best interest of the Tribe. The conflict between the Clans - the best approach for survival, wealth, and overall well-being of the Tribe are the biggest source of conflict rather than external forces.
Caravan Routes & Clan Territories
The Ruv'Suy travels the northern lands with a large network of scattered, semi-permanent settlements along the way. Their caravan routes typically goes across northwest Jechran, the (dubbed by the tribe) Northern Flats of Galdos, the southern tip of Tyedu, and northern portions of the Kurathene Empire. Like normal Romini tribes, they get by. Though each clan tends to favor an approach, the tribe is a blend of hunter-gatherers, pastoral, and peripatetic nomads. They perform, trade, hunt, and barter. Some of the Clans choose to stay primarily in one of the nations, though individual clan members are not obligated to.
The Domari preside primarily in the Jechran territory, the Reznik in the Tyeduan territory, the Usari in the parts of the Flats that borders Jechran, and the Viara towards the territory of the Empire. All of the Clans are welcome in other clans' "territory" under normal circumstances.
Known Traditions & Rituals
Occasionally the clans Krisatora consult with fortune-tellers and find children with certain potentials that can be of benefit to the Tribe. Not every "chosen child" follows the predicted path; Vai’datha after all. Should the child accept the path, they are often given names of famous heroes of legends that align with their chosen paths at an early age with their birth names erased from records. The roles vary, but often will involve them traveling on pilgrimages to gain what is required and bring it back to the Tribe; most commonly knowledge.
The deities that have the strongest influences within the Tribes would be Mikon, Dre'Ana, O'Ma, Rha-Gul, Harpinger, Naren, Yeraiah, Dagath. Homage is of course paid to Hurine, Pelar, and Ptah.
Each of the clans specializes in training: Reznik Clan: warriors and monks (ketano and ketanilo) Domari Clan: healers and shamans (drabengro and drabeneshya) Viara Clan: thieves and bards (choro and giliri) Usari Clan: druids and rangers (drabuv and phireskuv)
While it's the norm for clan members to be born into their clan with 'different' abilities than what their clan specializes in, it's common for the clan members to travel to the relative clans to master their chosen path. The elders of the Ruv'Suy put this together to help the relations with each of the clans.
It's uncommon for wizards and witches to be born into the Ruv'Suy Tribe. None of the clans specialize in the training of wizards and witches. When any come about, they often travel away from the clans for their training.
Wizards and Witches (drabarn/drabarni) A sorcerer is "ande" a wizard "avri"
- Male sorcerer: Drabarn'ande (In Wizard)
- Female sorcerer: Drabarni'ande (In Witch)
- Male wizard: Drabarn'avri (Out Wizard)
- Female wizard: Drabarni'avri (Out Witch)
The Four Clans of the Ruv'Suy
Reznik Clan: - Fire (jag)
Deities Worshipped: Rha'Gul and Mikon, local spirit tribes
The Reznik are patriarchal. With the harsh winters of southern Tyedu, the Reznik tribe is very nomadic. They are Primarily ketano (barbarians), though some members choose to become a spirit warrior (monk). Often healers and shamans travel to the Domari for training. Past relations have not been well with the Viara clan. Present 'politics' involve marriages between the Reznik and Viara to help relations.
Domari Clan: - Water (paj)
Deities Worshipped: Mikon, O'Ma, Dre'Ana, Yeraiah.
The Domari are the outliers of the Ruv’Suy. Unlike the other Romini clans, the Domari are not patriarchal. With strong egalitarian beliefs, gender roles are less significant, and instead the tribe focuses on what each individual member contributes.
The Domari still have strong roots in their Romini traditions, but they are less nomadic because they favor static settlements in the forests of Jechran. Due to this, interactions with the Jechrani tribes are common, and this closeness produces friction. Conflict frequently arises with the Jechrani, with outcomes ranging from all-out war to intermarriage.
In the earlier years of the Domari clan’s expansion into Jechran there was a war between the Jechrani tribes in which the Domari lost. Almost every single Romini male perished. While the remaining Domari and Jechrani made peace, that peace came at a great cost and kicked off a parallel course of history between the Domari and Jechrani tribes. The Jechrani and Domari subsequently began to trade some remaining males, which are typically freed in the Domari society.
Initially, the Domari’s survival mandated the departure from traditional Romini values. Given the unique blend of their Romini traditions and the polar opposite influences of the Jechrani, the Domari clan is unique. It acknowledges and embraces the differences each gender offers, but there are little social expectations that revolve around gender roles. Despite the Domari training many healers and shamans, the females often have strong battle prowess and militant roles within the clan. While many of the women embrace traditional feminine roles, it is solely by choice and is not viewed positively or negatively. They believe that everyone has both masculine and feminine qualities, and they embrace and celebrate this.
Influenced heavily by the fey, sexuality is diverse. Simply known as “two-spirit”, homosexuality and bisexuality are normalized within the clan. The Domari believe that two-spirit males are nature’s solution to maintain the safety of the home while many of the physically stronger males are out hunting or traveling. The Domari pride themselves on embracing the differences of genders while not setting social expectations of conformity.
Present-day, the female population within the Domari is higher than the males given the Jechrani blood that flows through many of them. This is in part due to fewer outsider males traveling into the clan and breeding with any of the Jechrani natives. In order to keep this in check, the relation with the other clans and their males is an important thing to take into consideration.
Viara Clan: - Wind (braval)
Primarily Mikon, Hurine, Harpinger, and Naren.
Patriarchal. Empire territory. Nomadic. Performers and thieves, the Viara Clan is often known for bringing a great deal of revenue for the Tribe through swindling and discrete thievery of gadjen. A lot of it is through legitimate means as well in their performances. Conflict with the Reznik Clan stems primarily from their belief of how to treat gadjen and bring in revenue.
Usari Clan: - Earth (phuv)
Deities Worshipped: Pelar, Dre'Ana, Dagath, Yeriah, O'Ma Patriarchal. Flats of Galdos/border of Jechran forest. The Usari keep very much to themselves. Like the Domari, they interact with the forest as an essential part of their survival but have taken it to the next level. Unlike the Domari though, they are a bit more nomadic and less structured than any of the other clans as they live off of the land even more so than the other clans.
