MJ arrives at the drill with a fire burning in her eyes much unlike her usual demeanor. She eyes the new recruits while Cole speaks. As soon as he dismisses the group, MJ pounces on them, leaving the rest of the scout and ranged squad to organize themselves for the morning's drill.
Her first lesson is for them to saddle and unsaddle their mounts, ad naseum. they go through the process time and time again until MJ seems somewhat satisfied. She then instructs them to mount and dismount, a hundred times. A process she observes, letting them make mistakes and only making her corrections afterward.
Eventually, the bewildered officers are mounted up and MJ leaps onto Tryphena who was waiting through all initial lessons. Without even setting a thought to flying, MJ instructs her 'students' to learn how to read each others' muscle motions while their feet are still firmly planted on the rooftop. Each pair tuning circling bending, each partner in the pair learning how to follow lead and change at a moment, padding around and around on the rooftop; stop go, turn right, turn left.
She drills them on this until she 'knows' in her heart they have grasped the basic beginning of the concepts involved. Next, she has them drill launch and land, launch and land, launch and land.
The morning drill practice drawing to an end, MJ finally sets her students up for their 'initiation' ride instructing them to follow her and Tryphena as they set the pace much like Cole would have chosen to, but perhaps with her students better prepared.
MJ appears on the rooftop with the newest members of the Dragon watch. She continues to drill them on the basics over and over.
When she sees an improvement she finally dismisses them and Tryphena. For herself, she is down in the courtyard of the Keep matching blades among those sparing there well into the evening hours.
