Element cycles

The cycle of the elements is an important component in constructing charms or countering hexes by enhancing or negating the mystical properties of the fundamental elements involved. The doctrine of five phases describes two Cycles of Balance, a generating or creation cycle and an overcoming or destruction cycle of interactions between the phases. This kind of alchemy is an investigation into the spiritual constitution, or life of matter and material existence through birth, death and resurrection. The various stages of chemical distillation and fermentation are aspects of this, and when applied, quicken Nature's processes in order to bring a natural body to perfection. The most important and elusive of these is the distillation and transmutation of the sixth element out of these. Essentially this means distilling the sound out of the air and condensing it. Suggesting all matter is sound and creation, one song of a grand, divine idea.

More typically this is used for much more practical matters such as health. Other factors such as astrological omens or material components of a more potent plant or animal part or more personal components may tip the scale one way or another when these are used for other purposes than plumbing the mysteries of the nature of reality.
