Solstice Star
By Aneirin Menelaos
(performed at the Solstice dance in Nor'seer)
begins a quick tempo fingerpicking on guitar, upbeat and lively
Do you remember why it gets dark?
or why again returns the light?
the hope that springs when she is near
A Solstice Star in the North appears
strumming complex chord arrangements to accompany the spoken work chorus
The Solstice star, a polished pearl
that in our hearts, doth unfurl
remembrance of those that passed
candle lit flames, of the past
We all of us doth bear the light
lest we all do fade from sight
joyous we cry for love and peace
for all we cry, both great and least
return to fingerpicked notes
Nocturnal unfurling of somber wings
may quench the light that darkness brings
but none shall douse the living light
of a solstice star in the night
I sing a solstice lullaby
to put to sleep which has gone by
Awake I sing to the newcoming year
A Solstice Star in the North appears
begin strumming complex chord arrangements to accompany the spoken work chorus
The Solstice star, a polished pearl
that in our hearts, doth unfurl
remembrance of those that passed
candle lit flames, of the past
We all of us doth bear the light
lest we all do fade from sight
joyous we cry for love and peace
for all we cry, both great and least
return to the fingerpicked notes, the pace slowing with each line
So sing with me, parade and dance
imbibe ,laugh and doth perchance
set aside those memories dour
for hope and joy in coming hours
A Solstice Star in the North appears
Awake I sing to the newcoming year
