The Lair of the Valley Goblins

Whose cave this is I think I know, Where deep in earth two rivers flow. For in this cave I found a Tree, But not of wood: a tapestry.

No, this one's branches growing wild Attempt to tell who is who's child, Whose cousin this, whose mother that, Who came from whom, and who begat.

Pauline, Rhiannon, Umbar, Yan, Are four of several in this clan. There's Arwen, Seren, Brom, and Jones - The only one with human bones.

Then Grug and D'niel, Mity'Ki - I could not bear to miss those three. And leading them, or so I'm told Is Bivrip, who's impossibly old.

They've heads of elves, and men, and boars, All mounted high to watch their stores. A gorgon here, and what's that there? Why I'll be damned - an M'Chek bear!

And there, upon a western wall, A tapestry adorns the Hall With pins and lines and notes to show The places goblins need to know.

I never thought I'd see a place Where goblins show a friendly face, Where Making isn't chore but joy, From hero's blade to children's toy.

But let me warn you of one thing And tell you what you ought to bring When visiting this special place Finely wrought with thought and grace.

The willingness to talk and trade Is worth as much as gold and jade, So bring with you your sharpest wit, And be prepared to chat and sit.

And if your nose is sensitive, A scarf is what you'll need to live, For some of these kind goblins smell Like rotten eggs from deepest Hell!
