The White Lady - Volume 1
The White Lady : Volume 1
Rumors of the mysterious White Lady have been spreading for several days, but one particular rumor has started to spread like wildfire...
"A handful of older children were playing with a ball in the residences. One child kicked the ball with great force, causing it to hit a Shaahesk soldier. The soldier popped the ball with a halberd, much to the amusement of its two cohorts, and the children watched with crushed spirits as their game was ruined.
One child from the group - the oldest - grabbed a rock and threw it at the guard, but before the stone left his hand he was enveloped in the arms of a white-garbed woman bathed in a ghostly blue haze. As the boy was embraced, the woman's cloak fell over them both and they faded into mist. Guard and child alike were left stunned, and the children went sprinting home to tell their parents what had happened.
When the children reached home, they saw the older boy sitting on a barrel, eating a chocolate chip cookie and holding a new ball under his arm. He was smiling brightly, and didn't have much to say about what happened when he vanished. When inquired, he simply shrugged and said "We talked for a bit. She told me some stories and said there were some things I needed to do for the city."
The next day, when all the kids went out to play with their new ball, the older boy who had vanished the day before brought an extra pack with him. When they reached their game spot, the three guards were there just as the day before. The boy walked up to them with all the bravery he could muster. He took a deep breath, and greeted them politely (though nervously). He reached into his bag, and before the guards could react, pulled out three small packages containing fresh lunches and left them at their feet. The boy ran back to his stunned friends with his eyes full of pride.
Those guards had free lunches every day for the next week, and all of the children contributed. The next time one of the guards was hit with a ball he laughed raspily and tossed it back to the children. By the time the kids went elsewhere with their game, they were smiling at the Shaahesk and waving and saying hello. The older boy watched this transpire with great joy. It had happened exactly like she said it would."
