When Shadows came to Steal Levena - Ode to Rathas, Dream-Weaver
By Aneirin Menelaos
A slow, haunting melody in a minor key:
Verse I – The Dream Begins
*spoken lightly* The Dream Begins..!
The wind was cold, the shutters shook,
Levena turns her cold face.
A little child clutched-tight her book,
Within that shadowed place.
A dream had cracked, the dark crept near,
A voice called out her name
Not mother’s voice, not father’s cheer,
But something dipped in fear.
Verse II – The Dark Beyond
*Same minor key, slowly building in intensity*
*spoken lightly* The Dark Beyond..!
Long fingers crawled across the floor,
It whispered with a grin:
"Your colors fade, your joy no more
Let hollow sleep begin."
She cried silently into the pillow's fold,
Her heart a pounding drum,
Until above the black and cold
A silver shimmer comes
Chorus I – Rathas Appears (Shift to major key)
*shift to a major key, tempo increases, the mood uplifting and hopeful*
*spoken lightly* Rathas Appears..!
Oh sing of Rathas, dreamer’s light,
Whose hands are stars, whose breath is flight!
The little girl, in trembling fear,
Her voice pierced like a silver spear.
“Awake, dear child,” the Dreamweaver spoke,
“The chains of dread I now revoke.”
With silver wings and lullaby flame,
She came, she sang, she knew her name.
Verse III – The Battle in the Dreamscape
*tempo increases almost Triumphant, magical*
*spoken lightly* The Battle in the Dreamscape..!
With threads made strong from Levena's light,
She spun a blade from lullabies.
The nightmare roared and leapt to fight
She met it calm, with starlit eyes.
She turned its claws to drifting mist,
Its snarls to a drowsy breeze
And with a hush and outstretched wrist,
Unmade its hate with ease.
Verse IV – Reclaiming the Name
*same key, reverent mood, even celebratory*
*spoken lightly* Reclaim her Name..!
Though cowards stole her name with lies,
And cloaked her stars in shadow’s veil,
She rose with dawn in dreaming skies
With truth to outshine the tale.
Now every child who sleeps in peace
Is guarded by her grace,
And in their dreams, her hymns don’t cease
They bloom in each slumbering face.
Bridge – Her Deeds Remembered (Spoken or lightly sung)
*shifts to minor key for the bridge, spoken-word*
*spoken lightly* Her Deeds Remembered..!
She saved the magus from the maw
That crawled beyond the darkening wall,
And stitched the mind once lost and torn,
With threads of moonlight gently worn.
Chorus II – Truth Restored
*return to major key*
*spoken lightly* Truth Restored..!
Sing praise to Rathas, the veil unspun,
The dream-kin’s daughter, moonlight’s sun.
No mask remains, no shadow clings
Her name once lost now soars on wings.
In whispered sleep and waking song,
She guards little hearts where dreams belong.
From every cradle, voice, and flame
The world remembers now her name.
Verse V – The Wellspring of Wonder
*spoken lightly* The Wellspring of Wonder..!
Where dream and thought entwine and spin,
She dances where the tales begin.
With every “what if,” “might,” or “seem,”
She stirs the soul and sparks the dream.
No rule can bind, no cage contain
The colors painted in her name.
A whisper born in starlit skies,
She writes the world with closed-lid eyes.
Chorus III – Keeper of the Flame
*spoken lightly* Keeper of the Flame Unseen..!
O Rathas, muse of childlike skies,
Whose breath gives wings to wondering minds
From shadowed hearth to artist’s flame,
Imagination speaks your name.
The stories we dare to shape or sing
Begin beneath your moonlit wing.
All dreams that ever dared to be
Were gifts you whispered into me.
Final Chorus – Rejoice!
*strong strumming, full voice*
*spoken loudly* Rejoice!...
So bless the stars, and bless the sleep,
Where Rathas walks the silence deep.
She shields the young with woven grace,
And dreams bloom brighter in her place.
Let none forget, nor shadows feign
The Dream-Weaver has come again!
*A crescendo of music before..stillness*
