Above the Keep - By Lorelai Silvermoon Volume 13

When the dust settles at the Elf Gate in the wake of the Riders' return and the short lived carnage seemingly brought with them, stones being torn from the sky and monsters hewn on the ground ... Cole gathers those to him who flew North in brief, and the rest from the City ...

Orders are given to rest and heal the days' wounds, as Parthenia is seen transported back to Nor'seere for funeral, and her Champion is seen in equal measure, interred in the manner of the Order beneath the Keep.

Training is to reconvene in five days, though the Watch shall continue. He and Lymonious shall take Parthenia and Mary's place as listed on the third day hence.

He ends with a sincere acknowledgment of pride in how they fought today, in how their training had not been of little consequence, that first test against overwhelming odds was passed with great colors. They fought two or even three to one odds in the skies at points, and it did not matter. The glinting formations scythed through their foes, breaking them to rout.

They are known now, he says ... it may never be so easy. But celebrate accomplishment ... mourn the fallen ... and be prepared for hardship ahead. That is all he can ask.

He then dismisses them.

Thaylis joins those that will assemble at Pelial'Nan Cove. He has sent word to the Blackhawks as well, notifying his command and seeking volunteers.

He lets Cole and Finn and MJ know he received a letter from Geris, and in it the missive clearly spells out the threat: "There is a hive of dragons and orc dragon riders up here - a split from Truth's band." There is very little additional information in the short letter he received from the Annihilator.

Cole can only scowl and comment that a few of them should be in the air then. And again wonder at the fate of their own up there.

The thought then comes of whether this is a feint.

Cole moves to see the beacons lit atop the eastern walls so that the Riders are ready within a few hours. Whether to stand guard atop the city, or for some to fly north, is yet to be decided.
