Creature Name: Dire Ox

Observations by: Thaylis Beign

Creature Type: Animal ((142))

Creature Subtype: Bovine

CTS trainable: Yes (compatible with CTS).

Introduction

The Dire Ox stands roughly 5 to 6 feet tall at the shoulder, is grayish in coloration, and the bulls have long sweeping horns which can attain a growth of 5 feet and longer. Powerfully built, they are the largest of the Bovine which inhabit M’Chek. Occasionally, they are domesticated to be used in menially labor intensive tasks, such as farming and used as beasts of burden.

Feeding Habits

The Dire Ox is a herbivore and therefore its diet is limited to all types of vegitation, ranging from wild grass to small shrubs and bushes.

Disposition and Social Habits

Dire Oxen observed in the wild tend to travel in small herds. These massive beasts are generally docile unless provoked, but if startled or attacked, males will protect the young and females in the herd, using their massive horns and sharp hooves effectively.

Habitat

The Dire Ox can be found in varying ranges and climates. They have been observed in various locations, including mountain ranges, grasslands, and forests.

Fylgia

Most compatible: Dire Boar

  • The Dire Ox shares the large size and immense strength of a bear, but a dire boar can equal a boar's strength and has greater ferocity.

Other notes

Various body parts of the Dire Ox are prized by alchemists.
