Overview

The term "fairy" is a generic one that describes all races created by O'Ma and Titania. However, there is also a specific race known as the Titanian fairy, which is the only fairy race created by Titania after arriving on Avlis. They are not known to exist back on the goddess? home plane. Titanian fairies are extremely small magical creatures, and they constitute the majority of Titania's minions in the world.

On its first birthday, every Titanian fairy is given a magical wand by its parent or close relative. These items are personalized to the fairy and can only be used by it alone as the source for most of its magical abilities. A Titanian fairy's wand is of pure gold, and has many magical abilities that only the owner can access. No one has yet found out how these wands are made, or where they came from.

Personality

Titanian fairies are very alert, almost to the point of being nervous when in unfamiliar surroundings. When among themselves, they are light-hearted and jovial. Titanian fairies born in the spring and summer are especially compassionate and caring of others, whereas fairies born in the fall and winter are greedy and selfish. Among their own kind, they are always playing pranks on mortals and laughing, yet the pranks played by seelie fairies often produce much less collateral damage to unsuspecting non-fey than their unseelie kin, who often crave non-fey flesh for food. Nevertheless, most any fairy enjoys a good joke, and pranks are a primary hobby in their culture.

Unseelie fairies are always scheming and planning their next move, for whatever it may be. It could be a birthday party for their best friend, or a plot to enslave and devour a small nation. Their seelie kin disapprove of this attitude, and are always looking for ways to counteract their moves by adding goodness and balance into the world.

All Titanian fairies are female, and many a male has fallen prey to their ability to charm men for use as protection or amusement. The fairies themselves see this as a game that they spend their life engaging in to pass the long years that they live. Although, the added bonus of having a larger humanoid protecting them is also appreciated. The outcome of whether the man will be forever enslaved or eaten usually depends on their captor's birthday.

Personal magic wands are very valuable to all fairies. These objects cannot be replaced, and it is known that without it the fairy will slowly waste away and die in three to six months. This is because they are intensely magical, to the point that magic is responsible for sustaining their life force. Anti-magic shells will also kill a fairy within five minutes of exposure, and magic users wielding this spell will often get their attention in a hurry, and not in a positive way.

Physical Description

All Titanian fairies are female, without exception. In their main form, they exist as extremely small magical creatures, with beautiful gossamer wings of blue, red, or any other bright color. On average, they stand about three and half inches tall when in this form, and there is little variation from individual to individual. At will, a fairy can switch to a larger form, which stands about 4 1/2 feet tall. She uses this form to relate to other races for general purposes and for reproduction, and sometimes to fight if needed. The changing of form requires the use of her wand.

Titanian fairies have a wide range of hair and eye colors. Virtually all the colors of the rainbow are represented in both males and females. Their clothing is equally colorful, made out of a magical cloth thought to be derived from flax plants.

Relations

Titanian fairies are reclusive and avoid contact with other races when it is not necessary. Dwarves, humans, and dracon often make them suspicious because they are not known to be friendly to the environment, which the fairies prize very highly. Evil races such as goblinoids and giant-kin are almost never tolerated, though orcs will sometimes be given a chance to explain themselves and then told to move on. Titanian fairies severely dislike drangonari elves and will usually attack them on sight. Most believe this is due to the antagonistic relationship between their goddess and Angadar, the creator of the drangonari. O'Ma fairy races are looked upon with disdain and loathing, bordering on violence, though most seelie fairies can restrain themselves. These hatreds are ancient and go back all the way to the time of the creation of their races on Avlis.

Titanian fairies require an elven or human male to reproduce. When they decide to have a child, they will charm the male and keep them for breeding purposes. If he proves useful in protecting her, the fairy may keep the male on for an extended stay. Otherwise he will be released or killed.

Alignment

Seelie fairies tend towards goodness and neutrality. Their main focus is often the betterment of their group and the greater good of all. Unseelie fairies tend towards evil and chaos, only caring about themselves and the quickest road to their next thrill.

Fairy Lands

Though they have no country of their own, Titanian fairies can be found in any natural environment of beauty. They can be seen flying through the forests of T'Nanshi and Jechran, as well as the plains of the Kurathene Empire and the secluded mountains of Galdos and Deglos. These communities can take on different forms depending on the terrain and climate. When they are in the forest, they are miniature cities are located in treetops. The communities are governed by a dutchess who oversees their loose government.

Most races realize that fairies have no military ambitions towards any but the O'Ma fairies and do not use much in the way of resources, so they allow their communities to exist unbothered for the most part.

Religion

Titanian fairies are all but magically bound to Titania. Regardless of worship, they all accept her as their queen and protector. Rarely will a Titanian worship another Avlissian god, because they see them as foreign. Many do not worship any god at all.

Language

The language that fairies speak is common to all fairy races (both O'Ma and Titanian), and many of them speak the common tongue as well. In a lot of cases, common fairies can speak elven and sylvan languages too.

Names

Titanian fairies generally only have one name, their first name. They can be long and flowing, and are usually shortened.

Female Names

Adrianninia, Antoinettinia, Bernadetinia, Carmelitinia, Josiniphinia, Lemurinia, Nicolanitinia, Providenzilinia, Rosalininia, Shoshania

Adventurers

Titanian fairy adventurers usually leave their community because of curiosity or the hunger for power, depending on their seelie or unseelie nature. The free-spirited way of their kind often leads them to wander, and this is accepted by their kin. Adventures can spawn off of these wanderings in almost any fashion
