Creature Name: Mobat

Observations by: Svipdagr

Creature Type: Animal

Creature Subtype: None listed.

CTS trainable: Not yet (submitted, but not yet reviewed).

Introduction

"Mobats are as eerily silent as they are huge - some can grow to have a wingspan of over sixteen feet. They are aid to be as smart as dogs... and as cunning and vicious as demons." While these tales are somewhat true, the larger sixteen feet mobats must be quite rare. So far they have been found in the Underdark and are quieter than one would imagine for a bat.

Feeding Habits

They often disable prey through their loud and powerful screeches.

Disposition and Social Habits

They are often seen in a group of 4 or more. Most tend to roost next to each other for safety and warmth, though there may be additional social elements to this.

Habitat

Dark caves and the Underdark is where they are most often found.

Fylgia

Most compatible: Hawk

  • While the mobat is quite large and not really directly comparable to most raptors, it is quite aggressive and at the same time has wings. Its screeches can remind one of those of a hawk and it does quickly strike, in a similar fashion to hawks.

Other notes

There must be something special about their wings and hides, as they tend to absorb all sound around them (silence aura). They also tend to be able to focus sound directly towards their prey, in a painfully loud burst (sonic cone), while also being able to almost howl out an eerie wail (howl).
