Sorcery is defined as inborn magical talent released through innate means.  This is in contrast to wizardry which is managed through the use of magical texts and items.

Sorcery has been known to spontaneously appear in individuals both early and late in life, however the appearance usually signifies some sort of celestial or demonic ancestry.  Only in rare cases is this ancestry not accounted for, and such instances are usually due to bad record keeping.
