Dedicated to those who dream.


This is not a primer for those eager to test the limits of the arts. Consider this text to be a prompt to be more creative in your views and critical problem-solving. To step out of the traditional ways and help you to forge paths and ways all your own. Be warned that once you step into doing things differently you will run a higher chance of property damage, the ire of wizards, friends exploding, and/or troubling explanations to Toranites or city officials. Don’t let that dissuade you from dreaming.


On lightning brought on by natural storms. Often, I travel a lot by means of ships, dragons, and beetles. Sudden storms are a danger to be avoided. Sometimes they can’t be avoided, that is where thinking in new ways comes into being. If one is trained to a degree that their understanding of the arts is deeper than most and more observant than most. Then you might feel the electricity in the air and the nature of its charge. With practice, one can feel these shifts and start to see the lightning before it happens. If one is fast, it's only a matter of flipping charge within the air. In doing this, you are not defeating the lightning but redirecting it to strike elsewhere. This comes into practice when traveling at the spur of the moment to far-off lands and can be very helpful in protecting your means of transport and travel mates.


On engines and other gnomish things that require power. At times, simply waving your hands and twiddling your fingers is just what is required. To gather the available charge in the surrounding air and harness it to become the force in some strange gnomish creation that requires more than my underwear to sustain itself. One can also, if they are deft with their fingers and aware of the charges. Can drain power sources by creating a pathway that encourages the electrical charge to draw away from its intended purpose and disburse elsewhere in a safe 'Ish manner. This I’ve done before and is best done alone given the dangers and the amount of current flowing freely around you. Others will explode if not properly controlled.


On crafting and the ways of making things less boring. I’ve taken part in producing weapons where the forge is powered and maintained by a pyromancer, a cryomancer, and an aeromancer. Our task was to maintain and contain an unthinkable amount of heat and not melt the forge. Don’t limit yourself to the forge. If fire heats materials and ice chills materials; then what would electricity serve in the making of stuff and things? New ways of binding regents to create stronger concoctions? Aiding in separating regents from their current state? Helping in the infusing of helpful elixirs into mediums not normally associated with them?


On apparel and dressing for the magic to take place. One of the biggest dangers in aeromancy is controlling what you are focusing on. Electricity jumps quickly and if one doesn’t pay attention it will jump in directions you didn’t plan for. Be mindful of what accents your outfits and jewelry. One doesn’t need to be in mid-incantation and have their lightning orb crash into them because the necklace around their neck attracts it or your chain lightning arc across your fingers due to your rings and bracelets being more conductive than orcs. If that happens, you get a lovely scar marking you as an aeromancer; I have more than my share of them. Currently and for future publishing, I am working on nail polish infused with metal powders to aid in the focus and control of the elemental power.


On instruments and stage for this to take place, one must practice this before stepping on the stage. Most venues take a stance against shocking their patrons and propriety damages. I have experimented with metal strings in most of my lutes and harps to create a different sound. I should note that you should use a pick of sorts. I prefer to use craved gem ones as they add a little something and oh oh-so-stylish. I should state that if one uses their talents in this on the stage to make sure when others share the stage with you. That they know when and where it’s going to happen. Nothing says “CANCELED” across the play’s poster like a shocked to her bones co-star that refuses to take the stage again. Not sorry Poppy and there is more to come.


There is no ending to this book, just a moment to consider and dream of what comes next. Don’t be limited by what’s known and acceptable. Explore magic and your place within the wandering dream. Also, practice safely and have a friend that you trust nearby but out of range in case your powers flow back into you but remind them to poke you with a stick first. Failures are just chances to learn more and should never stop one from trying.
