Divinity & Beyond

Divinity is obtained in a couple of ways. It may be granted by a great power, like the Great Nine, or it may be gained through artifacts or the accumulation of worshipers. In the last case the worshipers must be true supplicants who honestly believe in the power of their adored one.

The simplest form of divinity is Immortality. Immortal heroes can also come about through interbreeding of mortals and deity avatars, however this is uncommon. Most often, Immortality is achieved through the favor of a god or goddess or the accumulation of sufficient worshipers numbering in the hundreds.

From there, one may assume the rank of demi-god, by accumulating more worshipers. Demi-gods are the lowest of the true gods. They can no longer be killed by immortals or affected by mortal magic. Only another deity of equal or higher stature can kill a Demi-god, and the action must be taken against the deity's true form, not an avatar.

These rules apply to all gods above Demi-gods, specifically Lesser, Intermediate, and Greater.

The Great Nine are all Greater Gods, but they are not the only ones with influence on Avlis.
