Information

Despite their propensity to create lairs in areas steeped with volcanic activity and fire, granite dragons are cold, calculating wyrms focused upon extending their domain and their rule upon those weaker than themselves. They combine a ruthless single-mindedness with a cunning appreciation of their own abilities; seamlessly combining their great strength, intelligence and magical ability to achieve what they desire most: subjugation of lesser beings.

Granite dragons are more heavily built than their other stone dragon counterparts, with a massive set of frontal claws and heavy bulk concentrated on their upper bodies, a relatively short neck and a squared head with a single jutting horn. While young hatchling granites tend to have dark grey scales, the tone of these scales gradually grows lighter as the dragon ages until they reach a light grey color; while the eldest of granite dragons have dark black splotches spread throughout their scales. They have a pair of flowing wings that they tend to wrap around their shoulders, giving them the appearance of wearing a long, flowing cape. Granite dragons have black eyes with sharp grey pupils that glow faintly with an orange tinge.

Almost always living in solitary volcanic lairs, granites tend to prefer seclusion to outright adulation, and are haphazard in their choice of prowling grounds. They do however take a keen interest in showing their strength over weaker creatures, and it is common to see several lesser creatures, up to and including lesser stone dragons such as coal dragons performing menial tasks near their lairs. Unfortunately for these poor souls, granite dragons rarely have any qualms about breaking whatever contracts they had, and often consume these creatures as food when they stop serving their purposes.
