Creature Name: Otter
Observations by: Svipdagr
Creature Type: Beast ((?))
Creature Subtype: Rodent
CTS trainable: Not yet (submitted, but not yet reviewed).
Introduction
As everyone knows, the otter is only second to humans for the mammals who most like to hold hands. Otters are carnivorous mammals that can be found by various bodies of water, where they do their hunting. They are known for their playful personalities and ability to use simple tools (rocks to open shells).
Feeding Habits
Primarily feeding on fish and invertebrates, the otter will dive and hold their breath for long periods of time (similar to that of a seal) while hunting and often spend 3-8 hours a day hunting.
Disposition and Social Habits
Playful, friendly, and can be solitary or in groups depending on their stage of life.
Habitat
Near and in the water (oceans and rivers).
Fylgia
Most compatible: Dire Rat
- While some might think the otter would would be closer associated with the dire badger, it actually is much more amicable, playful, and friendly, like it's dire rat cousin. ((CURRENTLY IT'S SET TO BADGER))
Other notes
While otters do have the amazing ability to befriend, confuse, and beguile animals, they are not just giggles and fun. They are also much stronger than they look (as they just swim all day), are quite smart and have been seen using group hunting tactics, have razor sharp claws, and are quite fast. It would be wise to not underestimate them. ((this specific otter didn't have a label saying if it was a river or sea otter, though it was found on a beach; also see Most Compatible Notes))
