Quentin Laurent and Sir Kristian va'Dorlen

Quentin Laurent

Stories are told among the Skybolt Regiment of M'Chek of the tale of the Champion Quentin Laurent. Laurent was a half-elven Champion who was one of the first recruited by Vanoviel Niltaurwen. He eventually joined the Templars of O'Ma, then the Champions when the order was first founded. As one of Vanoviel's first recruits he was a close friend of Sarmon and Vanoviel herself, leading patrols of Champions on several occasions during the Second Fairy War and the recent war against Drotid.

This day as a member of the High Champion's Own Honor Guard, Laurent had joined battle against the shaahesk. Early in the taking of the bridge, a company of M'Chekian skirmishers from the Skybolt Regiment had become trapped by a shaahesk and kobold ambush. Laurent charged into the fray, jumping into the melee astride his white destrier, slaying a shaahesk Annihilator before his horse was brought down by a hail of arrows from sharpshooters.

Still Laurent kept fighting, using the gifts from O'Ma to draw attention upon himself from the surrounding enemy as the M'Chekians withdrew. He waved his longsword known as "Flames of the Torch Bearer" a gift of flaming longswords from Sarmon himself. He was a whirlwind of death, fighting a score, then two score, then three of shaahesk, stopping them in their tracks and holding them off from the retreating M'Chekians....

Eventually however the disparity in numbers was too great. An arrow pierced his armor....then a second...and as the number of arrows that pierced his defenses grew, Laurent grew more and more sluggish. Finally a volley of arrows from shaahesk archers inflicted a mortal blow, yet the Champion kept fighting....

He never fell, instead dying as he stood, surrounded by a pile of dead shaahesk and kobolds, his blades held high like a tribute to his god. The M'Chekians speak reverently of his sacrifice and brought his companions a gift, a piece of their tattered company standard in rememberance....

Sir Kristian va'Dorlen

A tribune in the Immortal Company, Hammers of Senath, Kristian va'Dorlen was a veteran of many decades of combat. He was known as one of the most skilled wielders of the dreaded Senathite Thunderfists, a warhammer patterned after an artifact weapon first gifted to the legion, supposedly by an avatar of the Strategy Lord himself.

During the battle Sir Kristian fought alongside his brothers, leading a squad of immortals against the overwhelming might of the shaahesk army. Amongst that green horde, Sir Kristian and his forces broke through the throng protecting a Warleader, and with one swipe of his mighty hammer brought down the leader and captured the holy standard the Voivode had gifted his minions. Kristian and his squad continued their battle and waving the captured standard as a rallying point, brought a shattered group of Nanshi skirmishers back into the battle to route the shaahesk onslaught....
