Raine Ju'eness

The atmosphere of Allied camp outside Grantir was grim but determined. The Voivode had numerical superiority and there had been occasional frictions between some of the allies. Yet these were veterans hardened between the forge and anvil of Drotid's invasions of M'Chek and the occupation of Elysia. The mission of the Allied Strike Force was clear: Punch through enemy lines and cut off the head of the snake, go and kill the Voivode. Drotid faced the unified wrath of the South.

Wiping the sweat from her brow during a lull, Raine checks her remaining quivers. Satisfied she rechecks her bowstring and makes a few adjustments. The skirmishes of the day were even more intense than the previous battles. These were the Voivode's own. Raine's arrows have been flying from her bow in a steady stream, hitting their targets right where she knew it would cause the most damage. Draw. Release. Draw. Release. Scan. Run if necessary to avoid getting swarmed under.

They were getting close. Dragons friendly to the allies were harassing Drotid elements bent on overrunning the Strike Force and neutralizing Drotid's wyvern corps. An immense limestone dragon took flight to counter them. The dragons regrouped with the Strike Force and asked four of the company to help them battle the limestone they called Eristhinalus. Fair'ri asked for Thorfinn Kiff, Gek chose Fletcher Millstone, Lymonious called for Raine and the venerable silver requested Terra Swift.

Raine nimbly scrambles up Lymonious' claw to a serviceable spot between neck ridges. Lymonious rumbles "Get yourself settled, it's going to be wild."

"Just fly Ly, I'll figure it out!" Raine retorts. Spotting Fletch's preparations, Raine lashes herself similarly while securing several quivers. When all are ready they spring in the air towards the approaching limestone. Before they can engage with the great dragon a flight of wyverns set upon them.

Lymoninous rends wyvern hide with his sharp claws while Raine skewers the riders with drangonari style arrows launched from her powerful warbow. Lymonious dives and swoops, turns and breathes felling two as Raine knocks another rider from his mount with a headshot. Soon all the wyverns have either fallen or fled leaving nothing between the dragons and Eristhinalus. Sizing up the limestone, Raine readies a special quiver.

Hot on the tails of the others, Lymonious joins the fray, ripping and tearing at Eristhinalus. Raine launches a hail of screaming arrows that slam into the limestone's hide. Lymonious takes a stray wing buffet and is knocked nose over tail. Raine hangs on for all she's worth.

As Lymonious rights himself Raine screams "Ly! Are you ok?"

"Yes, I'm fine" Lymonious says in apparent pain.

"Get above him and circle around, I have an idea" Raine yells back. Lymonious grunts and beats the air to gain some altitude. Once above the general fray he starts to orbit the fight. Raine launches a constant stream of screaming wood into Eristhinalus. Soon the concerted efforts of the four dragons force the limestone to the ground near the Strike Force. The fighting intensifies as shaahesk troops join the fray. Eventually Erisathinalus falls and the Drotid reinforcements are eliminated.

One final lull. The Voivode's encampment is just ahead. Raine smiles as Finn and Thaylis rally the Strike Force. She looks over the team a combined force Le'Nofaythen, Blackhawk, Le'Megen all working for a common purpose. Quietly she says "Oh Da if only you were alive to see this." Shortly she shakes herself out of her reverie and readies her quivers. The next fight promises to be the worst.
