Shelley

Shelley was her name... And I don't know if she was sane
But I still remember her first hello... And how it set my soul aflame

She dressed in black nearly all the time
But when happy in a wonderful pink dress she sometimes shined
I bought her a fancy green dress that fit her so snug
Yet it always just ended up in a pile of clothes on the rug

Will we ever touch that place on high again?
Or is our love lost... like a small bird in the wind
Will we beat them all and begin to ascend?
Or is the gold lost... the gold at the rainbow's end

Shelley was her name... And her hair the colour of flames
She was anything but mellow... And she seemed to have no shame

I remember how the hot springs bubbled that day
Do you remember the covers thrown astray?
Behind that wall we whispered our thoughts
And made plans and dreams of future plots

Will we ever touch that place on high again?
Or is our love lost... like a small bird in the wind
Will we beat them all and begin to ascend?
Or is the gold lost... the gold at the rainbow's end

Shelley was her name... And she was anything but tame
When with her I felt the luckiest fellow...
Walking hand in hand I'm sure she felt the same.

Walking under the trees quiet as can be
Or sitting on a mountain top looking as far as we could see
Talking of our troubles while resting by the sea
I was just happy that she was there with me

Will we ever touch that place on high again?
Or is our love lost... like a small bird in the wind
Will we beat them all and begin to ascend?
Or is the gold lost... the gold at the rainbow's end

Shelley was her name...
