There's definately no save. I don't know the damage formula but it seems to be something like d6/2 caster levels of Greaser. (did some experimenting comparing my rod of grease, both lit by a gnomish firestarter. I did ~35-45 with Neeb's level 33 grease and a mere 1-6 with the rod. Gairus 11/5/11. Confirmed with nob as d4/2 levels.

Watch out when using Grease around your familiar. My panther always went hostile on me after running through my already-cast Grease.
