The Ethereal Plane
The Ethereal Plane is a place of mists and fog existing in close accordance with the Prime Material Plane. It is thought to possess no true form of its own, but rather it is clear and transparent. A traveler in the ethereal can see into the Prime very easily, although vision is foggy and distorted.
Every place in the Ethereal has a concurrent place in the Prime Material Plane. This holds true in the entire Transient Ethereal. However, there is also a larger section of the Ethereal about which not much is known. This section is referred to as the Deep Ethereal.
In the Deep Ethereal there is no concurrent material plane. There is only swirling mists of various colors. It is thought that the Ethereal plane is concurrent with all of the Inner Planes, and thus if one were to journey from the Prime to the Ethereal to the Deep Ethereal, they would eventually real the transient portion of the Ethereal which borders on of these planes. This is not only thought to be true of the elemental planes that make up the Inner Planes, but also for alternate Primes.
Demi-planes abound on the Ethereal as well, or so it is thought. These planes vary in size and can often be under the control of powerful forces ranging from vampires to gods. These Demi-planes almost always exist in the Deep Ethereal, and the reason why they are not known for certain is because it is difficult to find them without getting lost.
