Derome Delem and the Story Behind its Tree
Did you know in Derome Delem just before you reach the marketplace there is a most unusual sight for a city that's under a mountain? Just happens there is a tree and it's growing but it wasn't always there. How it gets there? Let's go to the beginning and some three hundred and sixty years ago if not slightly more.
It begins with Elenya of Dra'Nar taking some of her friends on an adventure to explore the underground lands of Deglos. Of these friends, there were several Warrior Maidens of Dre'Ana including Eloryn Yeritashemar most notability. The small group of friends had taken the boat to Derome Delem from Zural-Dura. While some of the group went into the markets for supplies. Eloryn stayed and was watching some Dwarven children playing in a busy spot with carts and wagons carrying goods to and from the market. A Dwarven woman named Merin stood there watching their children and two struck up talking and between them came the ideal for a safe place for children to play. As they spoke of the ideal Eloryn spoke of the forest and was sadden to hear that this women nor the children had seen the clouds, sun or a tree. This was heartbreaking to Eloryn to hear of such and it doubled her desire to see this happen.
Eloryn drove into the project once she returned to Elysia. She researched ways to create and sustain light so deep underground and nourish a sapling growing in stone. She reaches out to friends in the Green Order of the Forest as well as her fellow natural lovers in Shemathen Le'Yeritath for aid. After some more research and thinking out how they address the problems they planned their return to Derome Delem to create something the people there hadn't seen before.
Eloryn along with her sisters Alanneah, Bee, Emilia, Lisa, and Sarrena along with Gil of Green Order headed to Derome Delem. Once there and explaining their plans the gnomish inventors were a few steps ahead of them when it came to creating sunlight. They showed the Warrior Maidens plans for a machine to recreate enough sunlight to give the tree life and maintain it. Just they needed to acquire exotic things like silverware and thingamabobs. As they gathered up the list of supplies the Gnomish Inventors requires they ran into a Fegall Priest who gave them a Quartz Crystal of the purest form to use in this contraption that was being made for their tree. Upon returning to Derome Delem they were met by local powers that be and questioned about their plans and reasons. Pleased by the answers they were presented with all the paperwork that they required signed for each step of their plan. A tedious step but a required one by the leaders of Derome Delem. Upon the signing of all the papers and making the stamping and seals of each work began on the project.
From that day there has been a tree growing in Derome Delem to allow the children a safe place to play. The idea of a young Warrior Maiden named Eloryn Yeritashemar along with the help of her sisters Alanneah, Bee, Emilia, Lisa, Effie and Sarrena with the aid of Gil of the Green Order and a lady named Daria.
When you are traveling through Deglos and find yourself in Derome Delem looking at a tree that seems far removed from the forest with children playing about it. Take a moment and remember that a few people can change the world for the better with just a kind act. If you happen to be of a nature-loving temperament take a moment or two and check on the tree's health.
