Mrs. Ammika's Guide to Attending Social Events and Parties
By Ammika of the Drakehall

When planning to attend a social event or a party, there are matters to think about first and foremost. What is the purpose of such gathering? Is there a dress code for it? Should I bring a gift for the host? These questions can generally be answered by writing to the host or hostess of the social gathering in question. It best to find out first before appearing and finding everyone in formal gowns and attire or showing up and not knowing about the moment being celebrated.

Now, you have found out about the gathering and written to the host or hostess. You know what you need to know and have prepared yourself and your attire. What will you do when you are there? How will you act? Keep it simple. When you arrive at the location and are greeted by your host or hostess. Return the greeting and thank them for inviting you or for holding such a gathering. If you brought a gift, ask where to place it. After this, go mingle in a polite and well-mannered way. This can vary depending upon the host/hostess/ or reason for gathering. With Dru'Elites, nude grease wrestling is almost assured. Don't gawk or stare. Cheer and enjoy, if you are brave? Disrobe and join in but ask first before disrobing. If it is a Fey party, it very well could climax with an orgy. Again, do not gawk or stare. If you are not comfortable with such contact. Give your host or hostess a heartfelt goodbye and thank them for the evening's entertainment. Malekites might have a ritual sacrifice planned for after the meal or if it's Voranites then a long lecture on some topic that you may or may not be interested in. It all depends on your host or hostess as to what the gathering might bring. Be aware of your host or hostess and prepare yourself for a fun and interesting time.

Now that your aware of what might happen and you have made it to the gathering. You mingled and enjoyed yourself. Did you drink too much? You can make amends the next day when your sober as it happens. Did you eat too much and leave early? That's okay, that happens to as it's a party and the food was good. Now that you are leaving. What do you do? Do you just leave? No, that would be rude. Thank your host or hostess for inviting you or holding such a gathering. Let those you know that you are departing and will see them later. This is a good move if it is a Malekite party as you want your friends to know you left in case you are found the next day without your head. Then make your way from the party to your home or where you needed to be.

In a few days, send a short card to your host or hostess and thank them for allowing you to partake of such enjoyment and that you look forward to the next happy and joyful meeting. This small act will let them know that you did enjoy yourself and took a moment to let them know such. Now you are ready to attend parties in a somewhat civil matter and behavior.

Most importantly at any gatherings is a simple rule to follow and an easy one.

DON'T BE A JACKASS! literally or figuratively.

About the author: Mrs. Ammika, is well known in Fey society for stabbing those that give her the wrong flower on the wrong occasion in their eye; like most fey will and do. As such is acceptable behavior when it comes to flower giving. Since becoming Lady Beign of Drakehall. The resident Toranites have taken to 'housebreaking' her according to proper Kurathenian manner. Social gatherings, dinners, and parties she has made great strides in. She even knows the names of all the forks and when to use each one. Most importantly, she knows how to interact with others at such gatherings.
