Knowledge System Specialization System

The Knowledge Specialization System is a skill specialization based off of the Lore skill. Each character will get one free specialization from their base class, as well as being able to select one field. Wizard and Bard classes receive additional perks as scholars well in this system. When choosing a specialization you will receive a bonus to rolls in that field, while receiving an equivalent reduction to rolls in fields your character does not specialize in. Characters level 1-20 receive a smaller modifier, while characters level 21+ receive the full modifier.

Available Fields of Knowledge:

Arcana & Planes (planar lore, ancient mysteries, magic traditions, arcane symbols, cryptic phrases, constructs, dragons, magical beasts)
Architecture & Engineering (buildings, aqueducts, bridges, fortifications)
   Dungeoneering (aberrations, caverns, oozes, spelunking)
   Geography (lands, terrain, climate, people)
History (royalty, wars, colonies, migrations, founding of cities)
Local (legends, personalities, inhabitants, laws, customs, traditions, humanoids)
Nature (animals, fey, giants, monstrous humanoids, plants, seasons and cycles, weather, vermin)
Nobility & Royalty (lineages, heraldry, family trees, mottoes, personalities)
Religion (gods and goddesses, mythic history, ecclesiastic tradition, holy symbols, undead)

There are some extra ways to increase your bonuses to Knowledge checks in the game too from other existing systems such as Bartending and Jali's Book Quest

  • /knowledge help - Gives you additional information while in game
  • /knowledge stat - Displays what fields your character specializes in

  • /knowledge spec <field> - How you choose a field to specialize in
  • /knowledge respec - A One-time-only reroll on your chosen field of knowledge

How to start using the Knowledge System

You can get this information in game as well, but including it here on the wiki as well for convenience.

  1. /knowledge free - To start, do this! Get your free spec based on class.
  2. /knowledge spec <field> - this is how you choose a specialization.

Available fields are: Engineering & Architecture, Dungeoneering, Geography, History, Local, Nature, Nobility & Royalty, Religion, and Arcana & Planes.

e.g., /knowledge spec dun will select the Dungeoneering field to specialize in.

How to Roll using the Knowledge System

/knowledge roll <field> - this is how you roll a knowledge check.

You can use the first word or the first three letters of the field.

e.g., /knowledge roll history or /knowledge roll his will both perform a roll for the knowledge field of History.

Tip: You can bind these commands to your quickslots for convenient rolling.
