Lay of the Fey King

by Jones de Valor

[1]

The tale I am to tell is known to all

Though only those who lived it know its toll

This world was new, our song had just begun

Yet, all too soon, the concert came undone

A King provoked a Queen; a mortal slight

It took a thousand years to make it right

Our dance went one step forward, two steps back

It wasn't long 'till both of us lost track

[Chorus]

Ill met by ~moon~light, proud Titania

It truly ~breaks~ my heart

to ~see~ us come this far

I'm tired of ~keep~ing score;

If ~on~ly ~for~ a ~mo~ment more

Together may we ~stand~ beneath the stars

[2]

It's been a thousand years and a day

Yet what was said and done, is here to stay

For King and Queen alike, a dreadful sight:

The children of our children, locked in fight

At last we reach the point of no return

My walls are breached, my holy city burns

My banner colors run in blood and tears

I knew this night was coming, all these years

[Chorus]

Ill met by ~moon~light, proud Titania

It truly ~breaks~ my heart

to ~see~ us come this far

I'm tired of ~keep~ing score;

If ~on~ly ~for~ a ~mo~ment more

Together may we ~stand~ beneath the stars

[3]

Upon the end of centuries of strife

You march into the ruins of my life

And as we face off on the board tonight

There cannot be a Queen who shines more bright

As King, I will accept your cruel decree

The final move to set each other free

This blood feud of ours must end for good

I would not stop you, even if I could

[Chorus]

Ill met by ~moon~light, proud Titania

It truly ~breaks~ my heart

to ~see~ us come this far

I'm tired of ~keep~ing score;

If ~on~ly ~for~ a ~mo~ment more

Together may we ~stand~ beneath the stars

[Instrumental]

[Spoken]

Tomorrow, when our children sing our song

I hope they will not judge us right or wrong

May all that kept us fighting from the start

remain between your dagger and my heart

[Closing Chorus]

Farewell for~e~ver, proud Titania

There's ~so~ much to our tale

this ~world~ may never know

You ~will~ not ~see~ me shake;

My ~fi~nal ~breath~ is ~yours~ to take

Deliver it from my ~lips~ and let it go
