Blake Benneset
Race: Human (M'chekian)
Place of Origin: M'chek, Mikona, Noble District, House of Benneset (defunct).
Member of the Golden Path
Apprentice of the AKN

Blake is the second youngest of nine children of Nicolo, current head of the ancient but declining noble house of Benneset. Though prominent members of the family sat in the M'Chek's noble house in centuries past, recent generations have been no more than scribes and lawyers. In recent years, the ancestral House of Benneset was sold to settle debts, and all but one of the family left Mikona for the Seven Cities. Since his family's relocation, Blake is the last to remain in Mikona today.

Blakes' mother died of the Spite when he was only a few years old. Clearly he has never forgotten who was responsible for the plague that killed her. His public campaign against the Sereg'Wethrin is testament to his continuing desire for revenge.

From a boisterous young adulthood of partying, traveling, and other extravagant and escapist pastimes, Blake has grown into a more serious man. Keeping family tradition, he has directed his ambition towards M'Chekian politics. Pursuing membership in different Mikonan institutions, he keeps public company with a variety of seemingly contradictory acquintences from across social classes. A member of Kered Rose's and Dala Wennen's Golden Path party, he is also close to the Temple of Mikon and the Council of Balance. Perhaps it is his own interpretation of his patron Mikon's axiom of balancing extremes that motivates Blake to keep strange company. His naive attempts at diplomacy between factions in M'Chek and Elysia have been met with hesitancy at best, and animosity at worst.

While Blake leads a spendthrift lifestyle, it is clearly not funded by his family's exhausted treasury. Though a low-ranking member of the Guild for Advancement in Knowledge of Nature , his money couldn't come from an apprentice alchemist's stipend. For explanation, he sometimes brags of far-fetched adventures, grand battles, and recovering lost treasures. But his eyes and tone of voice leave the impression that there's more to the story than he tells. There are rumors around Mikona of his having a criminal history, a wealthy mysterious patron, or connections to a foreign government, but few but his closest friends could confirm or deny this gossip.
