Appearance

As you approach Xzar, you catch a glimpse of his strikingly vivid eyes. His eyes—intensified by his fey descent—are an ethereal aqua hue: inside the precincts of the orbs are multicolored speckles of violet and red. Radiating with energy and zeal, his eyes leave his powerful emotions on clear display.

Lengthy chestnut hair cascades down to his shoulders partially obscuring long ears that ascend to a point. A perfectly trimmed beard highlights his jaw line as a small trail of facial hair stretches down his face to his goatee, then back up to meet his well-trimmed mustache that encompasses his full lips. In addition to his wild grin, Xzar has a serious reserve that reflects his inner instability.

Xzar, living a life devoted to the Andrinor, has elevated his magical powers to levels that generally exceed that of his peers. While casting, his movements become elaborate and his voice explosive in--he claims--attempts to gather from the Vortex every fragment of energy.

Demeanor and Characteristics

When he is not carrying out arcane practices, Xzar tends to be easy going, enjoying the aesthetically pleasing components of life. Some of his favorite pastimes are flirting with females, drinking expensive wines, traveling to exotic places, and, of course, adventuring. Xzar has also been known to enjoy a good fight. Sometimes picking fights with fellow adventurers or rallying a party to experience a new dungeon, often choosing the most dangerous he can think of.

Mentally, the young, flamboyant magus appears to suffer from a case of hypomania. His symptoms range anywhere from delusions of grandeur, heightened sexual activity, periodic mood swings, to risky unlawful behavior. Xzar has also been known to display suicidal tendencies mainly during the exercising of his magic abilities.

Xzar loathes the bearing of titles or those who seem to dwell on fancy labels themselves. He has also been known for creating elaborate, ingenious plans, however, lacks the motivation to polish and execute these schemes. For the most part, his desires are neither greedy nor cruel in nature, thus his tendencies bend slightly toward good. Nevertheless, he has moments of passion in which almost anything can happen.

Background

Xzar grew up in the trees of Le'Or with his mother, father, and his adopted sister, Malis.

After attaining the status of Senior Mage of the Ashen Order of the Stars and having a passionate but short-lived affair with Sephira Everliss, Xzar vanished.

Feline Familiar

During a solo expedition into the forests of T'Nanshi as a young mageling, Xzar launched an ambush on a patrolling band of Shaahesk. Utilizing the cover of sanctuary, he was able to unload most of his energy, which decimated their ranks quickly. However, unknown to the young mage an assassin was able to evade his attacks by concealing itself in the environment.

Exhausted by the explosive release of energy, Xzar was about to cast the invisibility spell that would cover his escape, when a burst of pain ripped through his backside. Screaming in agony, he twisted his body to see his attacker. The assassin had released a bolt that tore through Xzar's flesh nearly puncturing his rib cage. He could feel the warm blood on his cold skin as he thrust his hand back, wrenching the bolt from his torn flesh. Panicking, Xzar weaved his hands in the air, conjuring flame arrows and sending them hurling toward the Lizardman. The arrows crashed into the target, scorching it's hardened scales and the soft tissue below, killing the assassin almost instantly.

Seeing his opponent lifeless and overwhelmed by exhaustion, the young magus collapsed to the ground. His eyes focused on the shimmering blue sky above him and his mind was taken by a feeling of tranquility. Just before deaths silent hand enveloped itself around him, he felt a coarse, but warm sensation rubbing softly against his cheek. He slowly reached out with his hand, and when he felt soft fur, opened one eye. To his surprise, the culprit was a small black and white housecat, which, upon recognition, began rubbing its body against his face. Out of annoyance, Xzar batted the cat away and brought his hand to his packs, removing a healing potion, and pouring the contents into his mouth. From that day forth, Xzar could be seen with a small white and black cat or kitten, which he refers to as 'Pooky', trotting slowly at his heels, purring happily at any ounce of attention.

A Return and a New Vision

Xzar spent a several years in the recluse of the mountains of Visimontium allegedly seeking Andrinor's blessing. Upon his return to Southern Avlis, Xzar sought the predecessors of what would be his new goal: to serve Andrinor as a wild mage. The first and most antagonistic personality he was to encounter was that of an eccentric elven mage of the Ebony order named Teth. After a brief conversation and many beers later, Teth agreed to unfilter Xzar's connection with the Vortex. Foreseeing a window of opportunity to elevate his power and connection to the Vortex, Xzar agreed to subject himself to Teth's perilous methods: methods that ensured only a slim chance of survival. Triumphantly, Xzar emerged a wild mage and sought the tutelage of Bedlam Dender, whom agreed assist the young mage. After obtaining an apt mentor, Xzar resigned from the Ashen Order and promptly joined the Red Order, which perhaps came as little surprise to those who know him.
