History

Several years after the Creation of the Trust and the new Orders of Magic, certain events brought the then Archmage of the Ebony Order of the Moon, Damar Ogdem, to Valok's fortress on Avernus. There, an immortal servant of Valok revealed to the Archmage Valok's will, that the Gold Order be reformed. Of greater interest however, was that it was to include orc mages. During this arcane revolution, Valok was willing to put aside his anger over the past to gain a foothold in the world of the art once more. The servant of Valok delegated the quest to Damar, who for unknown reasons accepted.

Returned to the Prime, Damar slowly but carefully began making preperations for the new Order, recruiting some of the continents most reknown spell casters. Near immediately after his return, the first of those mages not yet marked by Andrinor, found themselves with the God's blessing. This signified the start of a less hostile between the Two Gods Andrinor and Valok, whose history to that point was not a friendly one.

In time Damar was introduced to Kasaan, a spokesman for many of Brekon's underground cults. Kasaan and his companions had been sent to the city of Visimontium by a dream believed to have come from Valok. With Kasaan's help, the Gold Archmage was able to recruit many of Brekon's mages, which would form the core of the Order. A large number of these orcs have now come to Visimontium, where they believe they are safe from the prosecution of Brekon.

Structure and Philosophy

Hierarchy within the order is strict and many of its members undergo rigorous interrogation until they are trusted to work within the framework. Ranks and achievements tend to be based on not only the raw arcane ability of each individual member, but also upon their ability to utilize their arcane talents to further their self-interest and maneuver themselves into the positions that they desire. Much like the Gold of the Fold before it, the Gold Order of the Sand's philosophies share much in common with the religion of Valok. Ultimately, the acquisition of personal power is the goal of the mages in the Gold Order, as they dedicate their lives heavily to the Arcane Art in order to yield the greatest dividends from its fruits. Overall the members of the Gold Order are generally more subtle and restrained in public than their peers in Ebony or Violet, twisting law and order into a tool rather than a hinderance.
